About Michelle Shelby Spinneweber

I go by Shelby and I am a sagittarius:) Which makes me a lover of travel and adventure . I like to write, read, eat really good food in really nice or really unusual restaurants, and listen to all kinds of music (country, jazz, blues, classical, old rock) I appreciate a finely crafted cocktail and prefer 'top shelf'. My husband and I have 10 horses (mostly quarter horses) and we like to trail ride at the beach and numerous state parks. I am a fan of camping. I would like to work on the 'glamping' thing. I work full time as a realtor in NE Florida. I specialize in St. Augustine which is the oldest city in the US! My work keeps me really busy but I like it as I get to work with buyers and sellers from all different walks of life and I get to see a lot of nice homes. I like renovation projects best as I love to see an old home with good bones get new life. In early life I grew up on 40 acres in Pennsylvania. I moved to S. Florida in the 80's and now live near St. Augustine, FL.

Michelle Shelby Spinneweber purchased this townhome in 2003

Why Michelle Shelby Spinneweber chose Florida North East

I love wildlife and especially birds. I wanted Herons and Egrets for my neighbors so I built this house on the marsh. I made sure there was lots of deck and lots of windows so I could enjoy the amazing views and wildlife.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My wife and I had a delightful time at Heron Haven in St. Augustine. The living space is on the top floor of a two story house. The inside of the house was very pleasing to the eye and our visitors also commented on what a neat looking interior we had. The bathrooms were spacious and functional. The lighting above the kitchen and living room was very modern and nice looking (track lights). There were plenty of linens available and a very good washer/dryer combination we used often. There are 3 bedrooms which allows for a larger family or visiting family. The deck is spacious with great views over the marsh and birds were frequently in evidence. A gas bbq aded a good touch and we used it frequently. We never did use the hot tub but it looked functional. The winds did blow frequently through the deck area and I imagine it is a good feature in the summer as the house is shaded most of the day. A note on the entrance--the driveway is right off Lewis Speedway and one sort of has to know where it is before one approaches it. It is recommended that guests arrive in the daylight hours so as to spot the entrance more easily. The location of the house is very close to SR 16 and when one reaches that artery, access to the city (Route 1) or the freeway ( about 5 miles down SR 16) is easy. There is a grocery store on SR 16 (Publix) and a good fresh fish store on Rt 1 in the neighborhood of Winn Dixie. Shelby has compiled a handy collection of restaurants and shopping tips as well as tourist sites in a big notebook which one should peruse upon arrival. This is a great vacation spot and we stayed there 6 weeks. Our hostess Shelby Spinneweber came by the first day to make sure everything was alright. When we had a minor malfunction of one of the toilets she ensured that the plumber arrived the same day to fix it.

Great home and location

  • 5 of 5

This home is private and secluded and at the same time close to everything.

What a wonderful month we had.

We enjoyed wine by the fireplace when it was chilly or on the deck when it was warm. The amazing wildlife on the marsh can be enjoyed either from the deck or sitting in the living room through glass doors.

We were only minutes from beaches, historic areas, winery, chocolate and distillery tours, wildlife rescue, grocery stores, shopping of all kinds.

Shelby had the house ready for us with everything we needed and more. Our pillow top bed was made up with soft sheets, plenty of pillows and an extra blanket. There were plenty of towels, books, dishes, cookware, utensils, large washer/dryer, knives, silverware, even wine glasses. Everything is there.

Shelby is very easy to work with. She was quick to respond to my questions. She really cares about her renters and wants them to feel happy and at home.

We would enjoy being her quests again.

Wonderful Christmas Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This place was everything described plus more! We were able to enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the captivating marsh views, relax by the fireplace, and unwind in the hot tub. The property was pristine and very well maintained. We had lots of privacy and took comfort in knowing someone was close by if we needed anything. Working with the owner was simple and very pleasant. This was absolutely the best Christmas vacation we have ever had. I recommend staying at this property to anyone that wants to enjoy the beauty St Augustine has to offer. Thank you for everything and we will be back!

Great view! Great location! Lovely home! Will return.

  • 5 of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The home was nice and I especially loved the fireplace in the great room, the hot tub, and the huge covered porch overlooking the marsh. There was constantly nice breezes and not a mosquito in sight:) I also liked that is was a very short drive to the historic district and the beach. The owner was great to work with and answered questions if they arose and made lots of great recommendations in the guidebook. I will return!

Great Experience

  • 5 of 5

Huron Haven is a short distance from St Augustine and all the attractions. It was easy to come and go to places throughout the day. The best part of staying here was the beautiful porch and nice views. There was always a nice breeze. This is a clean upper floor flat with enough room for three couples to stay comfortably. There are a lot of stairs to climb, so it would not be good for those with difficult climing. There was a BBQ, hot tub and full kitchen and washer and dryer to use. There was someone on the property to help with any concerns, which is always nice. There was also ample parking. Some of the best places we went to eat were Harry's and Pizzalleys-downtown, and on the water: the Conch House, Caps on the Water, and Hurricane Pattys. They were all excellent for food and atmosphere. We enjoyed going on the train ride around St Augustine and stopping at the jail (great!), the fort (very interesting), Ripleys (fasinating) and the winery. Of course shopping and the beach were terrific. It was great watching the surfers . There is so much more to see, we can't wait to go back and would stay here again.
