The Larsen House is perfectly located for guest that like everything surrounding them, beaches, kayak rental, marina, shops, dining, night life, concerts, groceries, bakeries, and all is in walking distance.

Golf Courses, Parks, Music Festivals, Outdoor Theater and so much more is a few minutes or short drive away.

Our home has had much remodeling done, refinish maple hardwood floors, new full bathroom, interior freshly painted, two new windows, new beds and furniture, much more. We have central air conditioning and a new wall mounted 50' HDTV Directv and a BluRay Player!

New outdoor furniture and grill in a big back yard for your use as well a Big Fire Pit.

And to me, one of the most important parts of a vacation rental is cleanliness. Our home will go through a rigorous cleaning and fresh sheets put on all 3 beds prior every check-in.

About Paul Larsen

I was born and raised in Baileys Harbor, resident of Door County since 1961. Graduated as an Electronics Technician in 1980. Popped right into the Television Business as an owner in 1981 out of Baileys Harbor. I bought this property in 2001 to relocate my business. The property ended up being larger than I knew as there was not a land survey done at time of purchase. One day in 2004 I was on a television service call and fell in love with my customer's home. My customer's home was a 1800 era log home and was beautiful. Long story short, I ended up buying a log home from him that was stacked in a pile in storage. Ultimately this is what put me into the vacation rental business. Starting with restoring history of an 1861 school called 'old school house #3' now called Larsen Log Cabin and is our other vacation rental, VRBO #427036. Our big log home is considered top of the line and this house is just a quaint, clean and affordable rental. So I hope you enjoy either of our places.

Why Paul Larsen chose Egg Harbor

This property was for sale for a long time and belonged to my relatives. The price was right and I wanted to be part of the Village Egg Harbor, because it is such a beautiful Village. My Grandmother grew up in Egg Harbor across from the Shipwrecked Restaurant and Blacksmith Shop, now a clothing shop. Grandpa married Grandma and they started their first bar business in Fish Creek. Later they moved to Baileys Harbor and started another bar business called Paul and Viola's Glass Bar, now called the Cornerstone Pub. My Grandma's Sister owned and operated Lena's sip and chat in Egg Harbor, my Great Aunt and she was great. And my Uncle Kenny owned the Midtown Tap in Egg Harbor (now Mojo Rosas) and also ran his barber shop in the Bar. Well you could have a beer and get your hair cut at the same time.

What makes this house unique

The uniqueness of this property is the location and it's naturally pretty yard. And there is something about a home next to the Historic Landmark Cathedral Church across the Street.

We had a very pleasant stay.

Clean and comfortable. Great location, within walking distance to restaurants, shops, grocery store, and Egg Harbor waterfront. Our host, Paul Larsen, made us feel welcome. He was readily accessible if needed; however, we had no issues or problems arise. We would definitely stay there again.

Great location!

Walking distance to downtown Egg Harbor and close to several wineries, parks and restaurants. Cave Point is a must! House had everything we needed. It could use a few upgrades and some air fresheners.Recommend a porch or motion light by the drive way. Hard to see at night. Beds are comfortable and the upstairs would be great finished. The church across the street is beautiful when the sun comes up.Loved sitting on the front porch in the morning. I would stay here again.

Okay For the Price

This was a good deal for a really busy, nice weekend in Door County. Walking distance to downtown Egg Harbor. The beds were clean. The upstairs half bathroom was not as clean as we would expect-the 7 of us used it twice. I took pics. If a dehumidifier was used, they may get rid of the musty basement smell when you walk in. A check out list would be nice so I knew we were doing everything needed for clean-up. Again, a good deal. Good location. Could use a little TLC.

Owner's Response: I appreciate your review. I always thought the house smelled wonderful after I finished cleaning. The basement has a dehumidifier and at your time of stay we chose to leave the basement windows open. The upstairs half bath is as advertised an emergency bathroom for big groups, but it is clean. We 409 spray everything in this bathroom and clean the bowl with the blue works cleaner. Regarding check out, you received our rental agreement from VRBO. It states the kitchen must be left as clean as at your time of arrival and the home must be left in good order. I guess I would had appreciated the garbage taken out, especially the bathroom garbage can. The stove was very greasy. I think the musty smell you speak of is confused for the lemon Mr. Clean I use on the hardwood floors. I have heard it before, I think I am going to change cleaners. Thank you for staying. Thank you for realizing we are a good clean home for a good rate and we are meant for guest such as you. Thank you Paul

Spent 5 days at this house with wife, adult children, and son-in-law. Location is perfect and all items were as advertised. Also extremely clean! Great cable and WiFi service, all appliances and the location is perfect - on edge of town and walking distance to Egg Harbor restaurants, coffee shops, bakery, grocery store, marina, etc. I highly recommend this place and the owner, who went out of his way to be accommodating. I have stayed in the area many times but this was the best in terms of value and overall experience. We expect to be back!!

Never Again at any Price

Rented for nearly 2 weeks the first five days of which we had a warm fridge which took days of wrangling to get fixed or replaced. Owner kept insisting it was because we overloaded it with warm groceries. After 72 hours of throwing out food that had gone bad he finally agreed to replace the unit.

There was no shade or curtain on the bathroom window and owner's response was that no one can see you unless they climbed a tree. He offered to nail up a towel!

The half bath is up in an unfinished attic; the master bedroom bed is too big for the room (can't open closet door all the way); the house sits right on Hwy 42 so it's noisy all day and inadequate bedroom shades don't block out headlights.

Upon arrival we were greeted by sour mop odor in the doorway, a dirty grill and poor lighting throughout.

The photo of this property must have been taken years befor the bushes overgrown the sidewalk to the front porch.

But on a good note you always know where to turn into the driveway - it's just past the TV repair service sign which is on the front lawn.

Would never return and certainly don't recommend.

Owner's Response: VRBO warns guest of misrepresentation and defamation. I work very hard providing a spotless home and yard. I service all issues immediately. Our VRBO web page is accurate. This couple selected our property for it's value rather than for their needs. We immediately contacted our appliance service center and text pictures of cases of warm liquids they put in the refrigerator. They only had English muffins and cheese in the bottom drawer. I still ordered a new refrigerator. The service center was helping me unload the refrigerator to install the new. I handed the installer a can of cold diet root beer and I said it looks like I am replacing a refrigerator that does not need to be replaced. This couple did not have the integrity to let me know their drinks were cold and a new refrigerator was not needed. They did not throw groceries away as there was no groceries as shown in the photo. We previously offered bags of ice and a cooler, they said it was fine. He complains about the new grill being dirty, it had a little grass on the top of the grill because the lawn had been mowed, inside of grill perfect, complains yet never had a cookout. We mowed the lawn twice during their stay, our bushes are purposefully high away from the house on the front lawn. This couple complains of noise yet they sat on this front porch looking into the village, watching cars, rather than enjoying the big private back yard freshly mowed. We asked him how does our sign on main street affect him, no answer. We do put the mop and bucket in the breezeway, Mr. Clean does not smell sour. Half bath is upstairs for emergency use as advertised, not in the attic , yes the upstairs is not finished, we do not want the additional space, I cater to smaller groups. These 2 people never used the bathroom upstairs, water still had the blue cleaner, yet they complain. He states I offered to nail up a towel. This window and trim is brand new, I said I would staple a towel up. The window is small and 15 feet up from ground level. My blinds are brand new and I like them, this couple does not like them. 4 email exchanges, all is fine he said and thanked me. These were 2 older people with issues. I came to the home to check on the refrigerator, embarrassed to hear their violent exchange I left. I think his wife may be in danger and I will contact Florida Domestic abuse as well an attorney for his dishonest review. I asked him to take it down, refused. Please treat owners with respect and honesty. Paul

The Larson House

The Larson House is in a very convenient location in Egg Harbor. The accommodations were comfortable and clean. There was a nice sized kitchen and big dining room table. There was also storage in both bedrooms. Paul was gracious and helpful. Had a blast on Girls Weekend!!

Car: not necessary

The Larsen House is in the beautiful Village of Egg Harbor. Our location is perfect for walking deep into the Village and enjoy so many beautiful and charming places it has to offer. We have concerts in two of our Parks also Birch Creek Music Festival and Peninsula Player Theater is just down the road a few minutes. We are surrounded by 7 fabulous Golf Courses, beautiful Beaches and Parks. In fact our guest walk to our Village Beach with 500' of sand access, bathrooms, playground, kayak rentals/more. Also our guest enjoy walking into town for dinner and drinks without a worry of returning back to our pretty home. Walk into the Village early in the morning, return and surprise your family with back fresh bakery and special coffees. My favorite place to visit is Woods Orchards on the other side of our Village, it is so awesome, with about 50 different samples of salsas, jams, dips, apples, fudge, strudel, apple and cherry donuts, wow! And when you look out the living room window you will see the famous Stella Maris Cathedral Church and has services if you wish.

The home must be left in nice order, all dishes and kitchen must be clean as at arrival. No Pets, No Smoking. Rates are based on 5 person occupancy. We do accept 2 and 3 night stays, rate may increase for a 2 night stay. Rates are subject to change based on check in and check out dates. Rate shown on front page is the nightly rate based on a week stay. Prices also can change on holidays or event weekends. We normally only accept three night stays, however we may accept a two night stay that would fill a gap on our calendar.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 7 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
