High Tide Villa (Winding Bay, Eleuthera)"

Bedrooms 3
Space 3,560 sq. ft.
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms, 4 baths, sleeps 6 + (up to 10) , private beach

A High Tide Villa vacation will be one you will always remember. Your vacation home is just steps from 2 miles of pink sand beach and the calm, warm, blue waters of secluded Winding Bay. You will revel in the luxury and privacy of this recently upgraded 3,560 sf, 3 bedroom, 4 bathroom house with stunning views from every room. At the same time, you will find High Tide Villa casually welcoming and family friendly. Our own children learned to swim and snorkel right in the 'backyard' (beach). Each of the 3 bedrooms has a private bathroom and individual entrance opening towards the beach. The Master Suite includes a king bed, plenty of dresser space, walk-in closet area, and a giant soaking tub. Bedroom #2, (The Coral Bedroom) has two twin beds. Bedroom #3 (The Sandpiper Room) has a queen bed and is secluded at the end of the house. The entire home has ceiling fans and air-conditioning.

The 'Great Room' (living area) is open and spacious with lots of room for dining, lounging, reading, playing card/board games, and watching satellite TV. Bring your Ipod and enjoy your favorite music anytime on the MP3 player. DSL internet is also available.

Cooks will enjoy the fully equipped remodeled kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances. You can prepare the fish, lobster (in season), or conch gathered near your villa or visit the wharf in the nearby village of Tarpum Bay where the local fisherman bring in freshly caught fish each afternoon. A gas barbecue is also available.

You'll want to take one of the kayaks (or paddle boards) to check out the abundant sea life in the tranquil bay and the inner reef where you'll revel in the accessible snorkeling. The beach offers a waterfront cabana and plenty of beach chairs and lounges, as does the patio. There are many other nearby opportunities to explore secluded beaches, snorkel, indulge yourself in local culture, or just sit back and revel in your own private tropical paradise. It's always 'island time' in Eleuthera!

Your stay includes maid service for 2 days/week by a trustworthy maid (Lilly) who has been with High Tide Villa for over 20 years. If you require additional housekeeping services, babysitting, errands, etc, she can be hired for an additional fee (as required).

Have Cindy (a local cook) cater a real Bahamian feast of conch fritters, grouper, peas and rice, mac and cheese, coleslaw, and top it off with pineapple-coconut tart. The local restaurants offer great opportunities to sample everything from local home style dishes to gourmet fare served on the deck while you watch a romantic sunset over a tranquil sea.

Ask Columbus (the property manager and source for information on all local attractions) for suggestions on local fishing charter opportunities. Expect to catch dolphin (mahi-mahi), king fish, wahoo, mackerel, barracuda, grouper, and, yes, sailfish and marlin are possible. Columbus can also arrange car rentals.

Check our personally prepared local guide book for shopping, restaurants, services, etc. Visit our website for more information and available dates.

Relax and enjoy!

Lovely, spacious home on secluded bay

  • 5 of 5

Exactly as described. Well maintained, fully equipped and spacious home on a bay that only has 11 houses. In addition to the sandy beach which is a 1 minute walk down a path, there is a back channel and lagoon nearby that is quite calm and an interesting adventure. A car is essential as the location is secluded and not walking distance from provisions. The bay was calm most days -- good for kids -- but when the wind shifted to the north we had quite a few waves. One of our party was susceptible to bug bites and got quite an angry army of them on her arms and legs. One of our party got no come prepared if you are tasty to the little "no see ums."

A wonderful, relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

High Tide Villa had more than enough amenities for our party of 5. We swam in the bay, used the kayaks and paddle boards, did some snorkeling and thoroughly enjoyed the cabana.

Columbus was most helpful in getting us into the right airport (Rock Sound), transporting us to the house and renting us a car. Lily was an excellent housekeeper, good conversationalist and a pretty good singer as well. One of our party is an entertainer and Lily joined him in song on a couple of occasions.

We ate delicious fresh snapper and lobster bought from the pier at Tarpum Bay which we prepared in the kitchen at High Tide Villa.

We drove to a rather remote beach south of Northview Inn & Resort and were rewarded with a private swim and walk along the beach. To say that the road to the beach is rustic is an overstatement of its condition but it was a true adventure.

We also ate at restaurants in Rock Sound including Sammy's, The Frigate and Rose's Northview Inn . All were very good with Rose taking top billing as both cook and singer.

We drove to Governors Harbor for a day - the town and adjoining Cupid's Cay are well worth the trip. Club Med Beach is beautiful for both swimming and walking; ate lunch at The Buccaneer, excellent food.

Initially we were mildly disappointed that we could not walk to any of the places mentioned

but getting out and about in the car proved lots of fun and gave us some great sightseeing we would have otherwise missed.

All told this was among our best vacations ever; when we return to Eleuthera we will stay again at High Tide Villa.

Wonderful House

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a great week at High Tide! The weather was sunny and warm every day. We were able to enjoy the kayaks and the paddle board but as the week went on, the winds picked up. Eleuthera offers lots to explore. Columbus arranged a van for the 6 of us and we went out every day to explore different areas of the island. We went up to Spanish Wells and Harbour Island one day and went south to Cape Eleuthera another day. OceanHole is not far from the house and we jumped in there. Another day was spent on the beaches around Governor's Harbour with lunch at Tippys. The house has a beautiful layout! The kitchen was well equipped with good quality cookware, knives and utensils. We had dinner at home every night and enjoyed lounging around in the Great room. The house is well maintained, very clean with lots of fresh linens and towels. We were able to get some fresh fish from nearby Tarpum Bay one day but it was limited due to the high winds and the fisherman couldn't go out as much. As the week progressed we discovered more small stores to pick up a few groceries. The location of the house is lovely, the beach felt like our own and we were always happy to come ' home' at the end of our day. At the end of our bay we saw lots of turtles. We would definitely go back to High Tide! The pictures don't do it justice. It was such a pleasant surprise to see those beautiful views. One week was too short!!!

Exceeded All Expectations

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been more pleased with our stay on Winding Bay. The home is not a standard rental - it is a beautiful and welcoming family home. We were warmly greeted by the home's caretaker and housekeeper. Enjoyed two meals cooked by a local woman recommended by the owners. Visiting with her and her husband was like catching up with old friends, and the food was delicious. The views from the home are absolutely breathtaking, and the beach is spectacular. Had so much fun paddle boarding, kayaking, and snorkeling. We had a great time exploring other beaches, too, some in walking distance, others a short drive away. Many times we were the only people in sight. Just the quiet, peaceful respite we all needed. Incredibly special place and people. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Family found paradise on Winding Bay

  • 5 of 5

Our family had the most amazing week long stay at High Tide on Winding Bay in Eleuthera. The property is definitely as described except even better! Every day we've been back I've longed to be back at High Tide...

We had 3 families which included 8 kids, ages 4 to 12 stay at this property over spring break. The home was super clean, updated and had every amenity you could think of for a more than comfortable stay. Most stellar feature? Every room in this home has a view of the magnificent Winding Bay and its incredible turquoise waters. Access to the softest pink sandy beach was only steps from the back porch where you could dip your toes in or just relax in the shade under the palapa.

Almost daily, we walked the length of the beach and back (approx. 2-miles round trip) for some exercise. The kids spent the day playing on the beach, swimming, digging holes or exploring the nearby "cut" to the mangroves during low tide. Nearby, we found the Ocean Hole to be a really fun outing and chance to swim with some beautiful fish. There was no shortage of things to do and explore in the most amazing setting.

One of the best features about this beach? No waves. Winding Bay is beautifully protected by the outer reef and its clear waters made it ideal for swimming. As a parent, you can sit back and relax as the kids play in the water.

This 3-BR home has one of the best layouts I've ever seen for a vacation property. The large great room where we ate great meals, hung out in and played games has a fully equipped kitchen right off of it. On both sides of this great room are two very large bedrooms with full bathrooms. A third equally large bedroom and bath are on the side. Columbus and Lilly, High Tide's caretakers are amazing and provided everything we needed for this trip. And if we needed something ourselves, the convenient proximity to Tarpum Bay and Rock Sound made it easy to pick up fresh fish from the dock or shop for groceries.

Everyone should experience a little slice of paradise. For me, it doesn't get better than this. Having been to several Caribbean islands including: Nassau, Barbados, St. Lucia, Montserrat, Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos, St. Thomas and Bermuda, I can honestly say, that my visit to Winding Bay on Eleuthera is my all-time favorite. We can't wait to go back.
