About Will Cogswell

The “Tree House” belonged to our parents who lived in Lake Tahoe four months out of the year. Tahoe was their “primary love” since buying a cabin on the West Shore in the late 1960’s. In 2001, when the cabin became too difficult to manage in the winter, they purchased the “Tree House” in Tahoe Tavern. Completely satisfied to stay on property they would walk the grounds and spend hours reading and playing cards in the light of the upstairs. They often talked of the “spirit and calm” they experienced while living in the “Tree House.” With such good memories, we want others to enjoy Tahoe Tavern and the year round amenities that it brings.

Will Cogswell purchased this condo in 2001

Why Will Cogswell chose Tahoe Tavern

Our parents purchased the "Tree House" at Tahoe Tavern because the Tavern is "Old Tahoe." There is such a rich history here, as the site for a magnificent destination hotel at the end of the line for the Lake Tahoe Railroad in the early 1900's. The grounds are open and expansive with many grassy areas dotting the landscape. The access to the lake from the famous Tahoe Tavern pier is incomparable. Lastly the "Tree House" is a wonderful mixture of light, color and views that makes time spent there peaceful and serene.

Great spot

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place and all the amenities. The homeowners are very accommodating and always available if needed. Great family spot away from the bustle of south shore but there is still tons of fun stuff to do and see.

Beautiful home, excellent hosts, squishy bed

  • 4 of 5

Will was a very attentive host checking in to make sure everything was smooth. The home was well appointed with linens, and kitchen staples to cook, relax, and enjoy Lake Tahoe. It's an easy walk into town for restaurants, the pool, tennis courts, big lawn and lake are all perfect. The home is nicely designed with lots of space to change your mood or activity even with lots of people in the house. We had 8 people and it never felt too crowded. So nice to relax. Lots to do. Our only complaint was the queen beds were too soft for a couple of few adults so we didn't sleep as well as in our beds at home. The kids and twin bed didn't seem to have any issues. We had a great time during our stay

Owner's Response: We are so glad to hear you enjoyed the "Tree House" for your Labor Day stay in Lake Tahoe. Thank you also for your comments about our queen beds. We want our guests to always be comfortable when they come to the "Tree House." We took your comments seriously and new beds were delivered to the house this week. We look forward to your return to enjoy a great night's sleep.

Owner's Response: It is nice to come to the West Shore of Lake Tahoe and not have to drive your car if you so choose. Not only do you have all the activities on property at Tahoe Tavern, but you are walking distance to rafting, boat, SUP, kayak and bike rentals, the Commons Beach and all of the restaurants and stores you can imagine. We are glad you enjoyed the "Tree House" and look forward to your return.

Perfect Summer Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed a great week in the Tahoe City area. The "Tree House" was a perfect fit for our family of 6. We enjoyed our afternoon time looking down at the tennis courts and neighboring trees while playing board games and getting dinners together. The Tahoe Tavern facility offers a bit of everything one could want while visiting the Tahoe area from tennis and family friendly pool access overlooking the lake to enjoying walks down the 1/4 mile pier. Our unit was well equipped for cooking and we even came home with clean clothes after using the laundry machines in the unit prior to our departure.

The owner is very responsive prior to and during the visit to answer questions about the home along with having a wealth of knowledge about activities and dining in the regional area. We would recommend this property to anyone.

Owner's Response: What a great testimonial about staying at the "Tree House" at Tahoe Tavern! We enjoyed hosting you and appreciated your care of our unit. I'm glad you took us up on some of our suggestions on activities and restaurants. We've been visiting the West Shore of Lake Tahoe for almost 50 years and no many of it's secrets. We look forward to your return visit!

Great location, so much to do

  • 4 of 5

Our family of five (3 kids - 13, 11 and 2) had such a great vacation at the "Treehouse." So close to town, we biked in and back several times. The pool was beautiful, right on the lake. The condo itself was comfortable, with a nice bright large booth to eat meals. (The only negatives -- relatively minor given all the pluses -- were that the two queen beds were uncomfortable, pretty soft and need to be replaced - but the other twin beds were fine.) Will was also a great host, with a really useful list of places to eat and activities. Thanks so much! We look forward to staying again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback on your stay at our "Tree House" and especially the comments on our queen beds. We treat our guests comfort very seriously. We took your feedback to heart and just had new beds delivered to the "Tree House" in late September 2017. I hope you'll return sometime soon to try them out.
