Escape the rat race and come visit a little slice of paradise. Stay in my three-bedroom, two-bath home on Marco Island. My non-smoking home is located on an over-sized lot in a peaceful setting at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and backs onto the Island County Club for fantastic views. My home can comfortably accomodate a large family; it's also perfect for couples traveling together or as a romantic and extra-spacious getaway for two.

My house features a living room, family room, kitchen, dining area, three bedrooms, and two baths. The kitchen includes all appliances, refrigerator, cook top, oven, microwave, dishwasher, disposal, coffee maker, toaster and all pots, pans, dishes, glasses, and silverware. Everything you need, should you choose to cook.

In the master bedroom is a king-size bed, its own TV, and a separate walk-in closet/dressing area. Bedroom two has twin beds with TV. Bedroom three doubles as an office with wireless wifi for your computer, a TV and a full-sized, pull-down, Murphy bed. There is also additional sleeping with a queen-sized sofa bed in the living room. All rooms have ceiling fans and the house is fully air conditioned.

The two-car garage has automatic opener and washer and dryer.

Access to the lanai (screened-in patio) is from the living room or family room and features an over-sized, 16-foot by 32-foot pool, which, of course, is heated for your year-round pleasure. For your convenience there is a pass-through window from the kitchen to the lanai. Whether sitting on the lanai or swimming in the pool, you are sure to enjoy the spectacular views of the beautifully manicured golf course, with numerous trees and flowers that are always in bloom. While relaxing pool side, you may be visited by the bald eagles when they rest in my North Fork Pine.

If you decide to spend time inside there is a 55 inch HD smart TV (with cable) and both a VCR and DVD player. Included is wireless hookup for your computer (you will need your own printer) and free nationwide long-distance phone service. The home is family friendly with child safety locks on all sliding doors leading to the lanai and pool.

Marco Island is a vacationer's paradise with numerous restaurants, shopping, water sports, golfing, groceries, sport rentals, and charter fishing, offering something for everyone. If you grow tired of Marco Island, Naples is a short 25-minute drive with its many offerings. My home is also close to the Everglades and its many recreational activities such as swamp buggies, airboats, canoe tours, etc. The city of Miami is just a short two-hour drive away. However, if you decide to spend the day at the beach, you'll find beach equipment available for your enjoyment.

I was never planning to buy a home in Southwest Florida, but after I was in this home five minutes, I knew it was the place for me. I strive to provide a quality home and hope you enjoy your stay. Many of my quests have returned for multiple visits. Perhaps you will too.

What makes this house unique

My home is quiet. I'm at the end of a cul-de-sac and on the Island Country Club which is privately owned. You can walk, run or bike the cart path after golfing hours. The bald eagle's nest is on the next fairway.

We have rented homes in south west Florida in past summers so we had an idea of what to expect in terms of price and location. This year we were traveling with our small dog too, which significantly increased the amount we were going to have to pay. Most available on our price range were 1 bed, 1 bath with extra pet deposits and added cleaning fees on top of the quoted nightly rate. We got really excited when the price quoted for this home was comparable to the smaller condos AND it had its own pool!

This home seemed too good to be true but surpassed our expectations! The location was amazing - it was awesome watching the birds and weather come in over the golf course. The home was cozy and clean with all you'd expect, clean linens, lots of kitchen appliances, great washer and dryer. Plus lots of little extras like board games, pool and beach toys and bikes (though we couldn't find an air pump for the tires). The pool was cleaned while we were there and grass was cut the day we left. No sign of fleas or that other dogs had stayed or visited before.

And while we didn't see the American bald eagles in the Norfolk pine while we were there, we loved watching the endangered Burrowing owls down the street!

Beautiful Home

My 2 year old son, significant other, and I stayed at Joan's home April 20-27th. While it would have been nice to know about the construction and have the option to decide with forethought, we didn't let it ruin our stay! We loved the house and made good use of the pool. We were out exploring and taking advantage of the area a lot, so we didn't worry too much about the view. My son actually loved watching the trucks all day and they weren't loud enough to disturb his naps or bother us at all. The sliding doors to the pools had locks but my son figured them out pretty quickly, so I would consider that if you have young children and just make sure to keep a close eye on them at all times. I would definitely recommend Joan's home, she was amazingly hospitable and a pleasure to do business with. We will consider this destination again for future travel and I will keep Joan's house in mind, especially once the golf course is finished in the fall! Thanks again, Joan, for allowing us to use your home!

Lovely house, but...

...when we got there loud heavy equipment (bulldozers, backhoes, etc.) were tearing up the golf course right behind the house. They started each day at 7 a.m. and didn't stop until 6 p.m.

It really made staying there impossible, unfortunately. So the rental company switched us to another house and we were very happy there. I'm sure this house would have been perfect for us, but it would have been nice if the rental company had told us this was going on first, however.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Unfortunately they are completely redoing the golf course this summer. They shut the course April 1. This was something beyond my control and unfortunately I was not aware of. They plan to have it completed by fall. I'm sure the views will be just as beautiful. I am sorry you were not able to enjoy my home this stay.

Great vacation home!

We enjoyed the stay at this house a lot. It was spacious and very nice. Everything what we needed we could find and the children enjoyed the pool a lot.

In the early afternoon came an eagle and stayed at a tree next to the house.

Great for a family!!

The house was spacious and comfortable! The pool and pool/beach toys were a hit with my kids and they thought the "bed that came out of the wall" was amazing! Great location - all you could need out of a vacation home.

Fishing: fresh water fishing available in the backwaters or by charter in gulf abound. Golfing is everywhere! There are numerous public courses for your enjoyment. I have bicycles for you to explore the island. Watch the bald eagles rest in my North Fork Pine. And don't forget the shelling. Once you get your shells, hot glue them to a picture frame. This give a great way to remember your trip.
