Cozy Sunset Beach Cottage By Lake and Ocean, Peaceful Setting *Wi-Fi*

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,200 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Relaxing, peaceful location. This cozy home is 1/4 mile from the beach

This house is in a perfect location. It is literally steps away from Lake Neacoxie. It is a short 1/4 mile walk to Sunset Beach. This beach is great because you can drive on beach is also know for it's amazing clamming season. So much fun for adults and the kids. Seaside is 8 miles down the road, or the other direction is Astoria, which has the best Saturday Market and amazing shopping.

The house was built in 1940, and has been renovated. We have a family of 4, and usually bring another couple. It seems to be the perfect size. My family and I love going there to re plug into each other. It works every time!

We love our home, and hope you get the same enjoyment from it as we do!

About Ken Stinnett

I live in Newberg Oregon. I try to retreat to the beach house as much as with growing boys means growing schedules. So finding the time to go is difficult. Since it tends to be unoccupied most of the time, we thought we might as well rent it out. It will help financially, but also hopefully provide a place for memories to be created.

Ken Stinnett purchased this house in 2005

What makes this house unique

The location is so wonderful. With the beach nearby, the lake steps away. A park a block (if that) down the street that has picnic areas, basketball court volleyball net and a boat ramp. Between the house and the beach there is the Lewis & Clark National Historic park with miles of hiking. If you go early enough in the morning you are sure to see elk. Bald eagles also make appearance. If golf is your thing, then there are plenty of courses in the area to choose from. This area of the beach is less touristy than Seaside, so it is a great place to fly kites, go clamming, have a campfire, or even play baseball!

Great cozy beach house

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay! The house is very well stocked but could use some new furniture and linens....otherwise very nice for the price! We will be back!

The place is as advertised, cozy, quiet and comfortable.

  • 4 of 5

It was a nice clean central location for all NW Oregon attractions from the mountains, to the waterfalls, beaches, towns and restaurants.

The only complaint I heard was the lack of a blow dryer and maybe a second bathroom.

But we loved the fire pit in the front yard and close proximity to the ocean and beautiful sunsets. Driving on the beach was also something you don't get to do often.

Overall the place worked out great, we got up... made breakfast, packed a lunch and headed out for a day of sightseeing.

All and all it felt like a home away from home and made for a great vacation.

Delightfully Peaceful Visit By The Sea

  • 5 of 5

Super close to the beach with a clear view out the front windows of a quaint little lake and bordering golf course! What a way to begin our 2017 visit to the Oregon North Coast. This superb cottage showed us a lot of comfortable hospitality, and plenty of room to stretch. The neighborhood was quiet and the deer family meeting us in the back yard almost every morning was pretty special. The weather changes quickly between rain/thunder storms to blazing sun and warm; and all is good. Especially convenient for short trips to Astoria to the north, or Seaside and Cannon Beach down the highway south.

The cottage was well stocked for our needs, however the listed storage shed was not accessible due to lack of a padlock key. Nice to have a hose outside to wash beach sand off feet, sandals, dog, and car. The extra room in the house will make us attempt to bring along some grandkids for our next visit(s). However, the one locked bedroom(?) with no explanation caused us some concerns about what [or who?] could be in there .... too many late night movies lead to mystery theories abounding .....

In conclusion, we very much appreciated this property being available and reasonably priced. We sincerely look forward to a future visit!

Communication with owner is very poor.

  • 1 of 5

Emails/phone call not answered and compassion is not found. We left our granddaughter's very special little blanket. Amy told us she would check with the house cleaner but that was over 3 weeks ago and we've never heard from her again. Our granddaughter cried for days and we reached out to Amy but she just ignored us. She has never followed up and hasn't returned emails or a phone call since then.

The pictures show a nice clean ceramic top stove. The actual stove is a very old electric range that is FILTHY! So disgusting that we didn't want to use it but we did turn it on to warm up some water. The entire house smelled of something burning. The girls came running out of the bedroom because they thought the little tv was burning. The little tv was difficult to work and didn't always work so that is why they thought it was the tv making the bad smell. The DVD player in the living room didn't work at all. There kitchen was well equipped.

The sinks and tub in the bathroom were very slow to drain. The shower curtain liner isn't clean. There were plenty of towels and wash clothes.

The metal bunk bed set has broken slats hanging down. Our granddaughters are very little so we weren't worried but I wouldn't want older active kids sleeping on those beds.

The house is very old but for the price the property would deserve more than a 1 star but any owner that won't return emails/phone calls is a 1 star owner.

Owner's Response: This is the new owner. I apologize for my ex wife not responding. We are fixing all addressed items and I am running the house now. Again, my deepest apologies. Ken

Good sized, great location cottage

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was good sized and very comfortable, in a great location with easy access to the beach and other amenities we enjoyed. It was well stocked with necessities for our family of 4 as well. It could've used a thorough cleaning as there were a few cobwebs inside, but We'll return when we come to this part of the coast again

Girls weekend

  • 4 of 5

Great house, great location and very clean. Kitchen had just about everything you would need as well as the bathroom. The two smaller bedrooms could use new mattresses. Will definitely book again next summer.
