Sea Ranch 78- Meredith Lodging

Looking for a quiet stay at the beach, a bit off the beaten path, but handy to golf and some of the best family fun on the coast? Try a stay at Sea Ranch 78, an updated, two-bedroom duplex designed for your comfort and convenience in the heart of quaint downtown Gearhart. You’ll enjoy a bakery, café and grocery mere blocks away, and easy walking access to miles of quiet, sandy beach, but a quick hop in the car will take you to world-class golf or the excitement and family activities of Seaside.

The two cruiser bikes in the garage will give you the run of the neighborhood. Inside, you’ll find a comfy new sofa in front of the gas fireplace and TV, a dining room that seats 6, and a galley kitchen with all you’ll need for dining in. Two spacious bedrooms, one a king and one a queen, have new memory-foam mattresses for a comfortable sleep in this quiet neighborhood. Sea Ranch 78 has its own backyard, with a patio dining table and plenty of lawn for the kids.

Combine your serene stay near the beach with golfing at the wonderful Gearhart Golf Links (the oldest golf course in Oregon, since 1892!), and enjoy a meal and drinks afterwards at the stately McMenamins Gearhart. Or take the family to Seaside or Astoria for the day to explore the historical sites, beautiful beaches and tourist fun galore. Or, if you prefer, you can beat a path from the Gearhart beach to your cozy stay at Sea Ranch 78 and have the quiet coastal stay you crave. Overall, a great stay. The property was a bit rundown and dirty, needs a bit of TLC but a great size, central to hot spots in town and the beach is right down the road ! Very accommodating for dogs !

This property was great. The pictures represent it perfectly. The location was close to everything you want to do in Gearhart and parking was available on the driveway or in the garage. My only exception to the stay, is that I asked about an early check-in as check-in was at 4 PM. They mentioned a fee, and upon finding out the fee was 60 to check in at 2 PM I declined it. I think it’s outrageous to charge 60 for two hours. I Ironically, the maid was still there at 4 pm. It was a bit noisy at night with the trash trucks and the front lock gave us some trouble during the stay but I really liked the property.

Location, parking, and access to the host were good. The home is very run down. The light in the master bedroom had a hole in the drywall, the couch was very dirty and not comfortable, the sheets were also stained, blinds were broken on some windows. We didn’t even use the couch/watch tv because it was gross. The kitchen chairs are metal and uncomfortable. We didn’t spend much time relaxing at the home because of this. In the pictures there are two mini fridges, there was only one. Also the tv was apparently broken, we didn’t use it so had no idea, but one day they called me multiple times to ask if they could have someone replace it when we’re were out of the house which was odd. There are check out and check in windows for that reason. We told them no as we weren’t using the tv anyway.

I'd like to leave a 5 star review but I have several things to mention that won't allow me to give you a 5 star review. The lighting in the bathroom is not good. For a woman putting make up on, it's barely even dim. I left the lights on when I dried my hair and it tripped the breaker. The blinds in the master aren't good. There's big gaps in between the sets of blinds and one of the slats is broken which left me vulnerable with the master being on the street. It would have been nice to at least have black out curtains to protect the privacy in that room. The long mirror is hung too low, I'm 5'5" and still had to crouch down to see myself. The shower head is very low which made it tough for my 6' husband to shower comfortably. But the pressure was great! And a mini fridge in the kitchen??? I get there was a larger fridge in the garage but the garage was dirty with cobwebs everywhere, I'm not bringing my food to the garage. The location was good, the back was nice for our dog and the neighborhood was quiet but the house needs help.

Great spot for a beach getaway

Great location to the beaches and surrounding area. Kitchen wasn’t as well stocked as we had hoped, but we made do. Comfortable beds and overall a great stay for a couple or small family to stay for the weekend.

The property had all that we needed. It was a little warm on the first evening and no a/c, but open windows cooled it down just fine.

Great location

The beds were comfy and the location was super convenient. The wi-fi was a bit shotty and there weren’t many amenities for kids, but we still had a great stay!

Wonderful Location!

We so enjoyed our stay in Gearheart, Oregon! This vacation rental was comfortable, had everything we needed, and we walked to the beach at least 2x per day. We were mere steps from the best restaurant local bakery, and tapas/beverage spot! We will stay here again!

Great location, outstanding cleanliness and comfortable beds.

A one block walk to a beautiful beach. Short trips to Seaside and Canon Beach. T Great little bakery by house. The cleaning staff did a great job the house was spotless upon arrival. Would definitely recommend.
