Why Karen Harris chose Hiawassee

This property, The Honey Lodge, is in a cozy setting among trees and the mountains. A private setting. Two steps to the porch and living area with the master on the main with a beautiful view of the mountains of Brasstown Bald. Only one mile off main hwy 76 and one mile to the middle of Hiawassee. Ingles Grocery is very nice with a Starbucks inside. Very peaceful and you can hear the stream after a rain.

What makes this cabin unique

This true log home is only one mile off the main road, hwy 76 in Hiawassee Georgia. The home is secluded and has many hardwood trees around the home with plenty of parking. What is unique about this home is it has a beautiful view of the North Ga. mountains which is the national forest so no other homes are seen on the view along with a Lake Chatuge view. Very close to shopping and dinning, about 2 miles. This is a great home to get away and relax with nature. Now with a new whirlpool hot tub and hammock.

Loved this place. Lovely view. Close to Brasstown Bald, which our family hiked together. Convenient Ingles grocery.

House was lovely and hospitable. Karen provided the basics—coffee filters, paper goods, bath soaps and shampoos. Beds were comfortable and common rooms were cozy. Wonderful place for a family reunion with our kids. Thanks!

Cozy Cabin with Great Location

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I stayed at Honey Lodge for 4 nights recently. As people have said in other reviews, the pictures don't do this cabin justice. It is well furnished and accessorized and has all you will need as far as towels and kitchen utensils, pots, pans, etc., and is extremely well kept and clean. The bedrooms are comfortable and each has a TV. There are two full baths that are large and have plenty of towels. There are two bedrooms and a full bath downstairs, along with a sitting room with TV. I loved having the privacy of a second level. The view from the back deck is phenomenal and seems to change by the hour. It is beautiful at night with the twinkling lights of the town below. The cabin is easily accessible and so convenient to Hiawassee, Helen, Young Harris and Brasstown Bald. The people were so friendly and welcoming as well. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and hope to plan another trip in the months ahead! Thank you Karen, for sharing this lovely cabin!

Fantastic views, close to everything, EVERYTHING was supplied and VERY private.

  • 5 of 5

The honey Lodge was just as the pictures showed, clean and inviting. Everything was supplied, no need to bring much in the way of household items. Being there for Thanksgiving we had everything we possibly needed to cook a proper turkey dinner: pots, roasting pans, utensils. Everything was very clean the hot tub was amazing, always ready to go whenever we felt like going in it. The property itself was very private and lots of area to roam. Our dog had a wonderful time exploring. Karen was great and was very helpful. Even a discount card to Ingles supermarket was on the fridge for our use...saved us $25+! The views are amazing! Would definitely stay there again or one of Karen's other properties as I know they would be just as advertised.

Outstanding find

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about this mountain home. The pictures are good, but the house and view are even better. It is beautifully furnished and the full-sized kitchen had everything we needed. We've rented cabins many times, but never had dishwasher, washer and dryer. This is more like a home than a cabin. We had never been to north Georgia before. It was stunning, and this home was a wonderful retreat after days of hiking and sight-seeing. The large deck and view were hard to leave. Our only problem is that it's too far away from our home in central Texas! We would love to go back.

Great Home Base for Tons of Activities

  • 5 of 5

I rented this house with my husband, brother and sister in law, and my 84 year old mother. I was specifically looking for a place that Mom didn't have to go up or down too many stairs. The master suite was on the main level, and attached to the main floor bathroom, which was perfect for her. She only had to climb two stairs on the front porch, which she had no problems with.

The house itself was immaculate when we arrived. Everything promised was in order and available. The view off the back deck overlooking Lake Chatuge and the adjacent mountains was worth every cent we paid. It was stunning all times of the day. We spent a lot of time out on the back deck and in the hot tub! The hummingbirds came often to feed on the hummingbird feeder. They were so cute! Every room in the house was comfortable and inviting and clean, with plenty of space for five people.

As I stated, this was a great home base for many activities. My husband loves to fish, and caught his limit of trout in a nearby stream. I'm not allowed to give away his secret spot! We rented a pontoon boat for 4 hours from Boundary Waters Marina which is very close to the house. It was a wonderful way to see Lake Chatuge up close an personal, and the views of the mountains were a photographer's dream. More fish were caught on that expedition. Bell Mountain is a new opened park, and the entrance is right around the corner. The spectacular 360 degree view is worth the drive up. We also visited Brasstown Bald which is the highest point in Georgia. It is accessible for those who have difficulty walking, which was a great boon for my mom. Because I am a potter, I spent time visiting pottery studios in the area and speaking to fellow potters. Cleveland even had a pottery and agriculture festival the last day of our stay.

We ate out a few times on our wanderings, as there are many great restaurants in the area, but we also enjoyed our trout dinners in with a well appointed kitchen.

Our host, Karen, couldn't have been more accommodating. We received directions for the house in a timely manner, and instructions on the house as well. She made certain that our stay was going well, and even offered us an additional night at half off since no other party was coming the following day. She and her husband both were extremely cordial, and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a happy one.

Honey Lodge is highly recommended by this happy camper and her family.

Hiawassee is a beautiful, peaceful town, so you can 'get away' from the city. This home now has a hot tub with a view of the North Georgia Mountains. The Georgia Mountain fair goes on twice a year in Hiawassee, along with several other activities at the fairground and concert of famous singers. There is a mountain beach and playground for kids and teens. The German Alpine village, Helen Georgia is only 25 mins away and Gatlinburg Tenn. is a beautiful 2 hour drive. Lake Chatuge is in town and is one of the most beautiful lakes in Georgia with fishing, boating and swimming.
