Lundy House

  • 4 of 5

Overall it was great. We left the Lundy House all cleaned up, but I still have not received my $129 refundable cleaning deposit! I have sent an email to the owner but he has not responded.

Generally speaking, we enjoyed our stay. The fall colors where at their peak, got lots of photos.

My first impression was a great house lots of room. I would stay there again. One thought though the floors are getting tired and need a good cleaning. I was getting concerned that the spots on the floor were going to be charged to me. I'm very sure that Marty is a stand up guy and that won't be an issue. Thanks again for allowing us the loan of your house!

Beautiful property in a unique and inspiring region.

Nicely appointed rooms, and comfortable beds.

The kitchen saute pans need to be replaced. I put the one with the broken handle in the pantry. Other than that we found everything we needed.

Owner's Response: This lady stayed an extra day. When the cleaning lady arrived a day early she found a party of 9 instead the claimed party of 6. Furthermore, she felt uncomfortable about being pressed to admit cabin guests to the garage, which is bolted shut and obviously off limits. I'd feel uncomfortable about having Lois back. She also moved major furniture around to accommodate her large group, which is frowned upon at Lundy house. I tightened up the handle on the saute pan and put it back in the drawer. We provide a couple of sauce pans, but only replace 'em once a season.

Location, location location!

The Lundy house suited us just fine during our Yosemite visit. The Lundy Canyon area is beautiful and you should make sure to head down Lundy Canyon road to the beautiful lake and if you drive all the way back to the entrance to INYO national forest off the dirt road, there is an easy hike to a gorgeous waterfall. The resort on the lake has a book for purchase that tells you about other hikes in the Lundy Canyon area. Don't miss a visit to Bodie Ghost town a little to the north and the Hot Springs a bit south of Mammoth. One thing to keep in mind if you're thinking of staying here for a Yosemite visit is that while the Tioga pass entrance is nice and close it is a good 2 hour drive down to the valley floor. If you love the North East end of the park away from a lot of the hustle and bustle then you'll be happy, just schedule your trip to the valley floor during the week when it's less busy.
