Why S Wilson chose East Maui

Beautiful location- nestled among 100' eucalyptus trees, several hundred yards from the main road at the end of a tree lined driveway just minutes from Makawao town.

Axis deer can often be seen in the front yard and endangered native Hawaiian bats can be seen flying between the trees at dusk.

The property is surrounded by open pasture land and is a vibrant farming community.

Horses, cattle and goats abound throughout the area amongst a sprinkling of protea, cactus and citrus farms which can be all be seen within minutes of the cottage.

Friendly locals, upscale boutiques and art galleries with fabulous restaurants are just two miles away in Makawao town.

What makes this cottage unique

Our friendly Nigerian Dwarf Goats and pet sheep just love to welcome new guests!

Our cottage is peaceful and quiet on its own area of the property- the ideal honeymoon getaway or family retreat.

Located in the sunny, drier area of Upcountry Maui.

Surrounded by large beautiful scented eucalyptus and purple flowering jacaranda trees in a park-like setting.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Saw a herd of deer in the back forests!

Looking down to the sea is calming with horses often grazing in the distance.

Lovely quiet house which worked well for us. Road into the property was not ideal.

We rented the house for 3 weeks while installing cabinets in Haiku. Nice quiet location at the end of long days. The owners were very accommodating when we requested a new frying pan and a crock pot. Would stay again if the need arose.

Wonderful, unique home in beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

We loved this beautiful house and it was perfect for our family of five (mom, dad, 17 year old, 15 year old and 12 year old). Unique layout with the loft bedroom. Plenty of room for our family to spread out, both inside the house, on the covered patio and outside in the yard. Loved the cool breeze that came through the porch, and we were all thrilled to sit outside at night on the comfortable lounge chairs and hammocks with the gas fire pit, watching incredible shooting stars. Perfectly located to see the sunrise on Haleakala and travel to the Road to Hana. Everything about this house was comfortable and beautiful. Thank you to Siobhan and Geoffrey for making this such a wonderful haven for travelers. Would definitely return!

My wife and I have visited the Hawaiian islands many times in the past and always use VRBO for booking. We have a go to place on the Big Island and now we have found our go to place to stay on Maui. This home is fantastic. Comfortable, very clean, great hosts (couldn’t ask for better communication) and cute goats to greet you on the drive in! We stayed for a week, it was very quiet and the stars at night were outstanding. Our only regret is that we were not able to meet our hosts as they had to travel off island. If you love getting away from the hum drum tourist areas, enjoy nature and quiet in a home that is super clean and well taken care of, this is the place for you! We will certainly rent again when we return to Maui. Thank you Siobhan!

Wonderful cabin in upcountry maui

  • 5 of 5

My favorite part was the goats, but all in all a lovely home and a great place to stay while visiting Maui. The back patio is a really lovely place to sit in the morning and enjoy a cup of the Hawaiian coffee thoughtfully provided by the hosts. The house is cool (and also cool), shaded for much of the day, and the island is small enough that even being seemingly "in the middle of nowhere", it's not too far from anywhere.

Also goats.
