Welcome to The Owl House on Whidbey Island, Washington!

My name is Doug and I am from Colorado, but love to spend time in my second state of Washington where I previously lived full time for nearly a decade.

There is something unique and special about Pacific Northwest Island life, and Whidbey Island in particular with its special blend of Pacific Northwest culture and rural ruggedness, bracketed on two sides by the mountains of the Olympics and the Cascades with the saltwater of the Salish Sea in between.

The house is wonderful, but what makes the Owl House really special is the setting with its long poplar-lined driveway, seasonal pond, little apple orchard, and large yard bordered in the back by a forest of cedars and red alders. We blazed a loop trail through the forest. The atmosphere glows in the evening if you turn on the 1000 feed of outdoor LED lights that follow the contours of the property including the forest trail. When the owls arrive at dusk (and they usually do) and call out from the forest, it turns this unique place into a magical one. In the spring life explodes here as the frogs sing and the many flowers bloom including several large rhododendron bushes. The huge covered front porch with hammocks, grill, and outdoor seating makes for a wonderful indoor/outdoor guest experience.
