The quintessential Tahoe Cabin, Pine Hollow was originally built in 1938 and is a welcome addition to Hauserman Rental Group in late summer 2012. With seasonal availability ***(not available during winter months)***, this Tahoe Park vacation rental is the perfect spot for a small family or couple looking to escape the city and relax in the forest with access to coveted Tahoe Park Beach. Some highway noise possible.
A small cabin, Pine Hollow is 1 bedroom plus a lofted bedroom, and is so cute with woodsy accents in every detail. A wonderful back deck with greenbelt behind the house, enjoy your morning coffee with woodland critters and BBQ on the gas Weber grill.
Entry level offers living area with comfy seating, wood-burning fireplace (Presto Logs provided- please no regular wood!), flat screen TV/DVD surround sound with Charter Cable, phone and WiFi internet. Dining area with chairs for 4 looking out the picture window to the forest beyond. Fully-stocked and updated kitchen with all new appliances, new stacked washer/dryer, breakfast nook and great little picture windows.
Cozy bedroom off the living area has a brand new (June 2016) Queen bed; 3/4 bath (shower only, no tub) in the hall.
Loft upstairs offers 2 brand new (June 2016) twin beds and has a TV/DVD.

Great cabin, terrible mattresses
-Cabin is darling, well cared for.
-One of the best kitchen set ups I've seen in the 10+ years I've been renting houses. The fridge had basics like butter and condiments (don't expect certain things as I'm sure it's left overs but I've rented lots of places where the maid's either take or toss whatever is left over). The pantry has everything from flour to peanut butter along with lots of spices. While most places have the very basics for cooking the owners provide an impeccable variety of bowls, pots and pans, skillets and more. I would guess the owners spend quite a bit of time here as the kitchen is prepared for anything you might want to cook, and that is a rarity.
-The loft is a great space for kids (mine were highly entertained that they could still see us yet had their own space) but also tall enough to work well for adults too.
-Gorgeous deck, while we didn't use it much it's a nice size and the surrounding trees provide a nice environment.
-The basketball hoop was tons of fun! Such a small thing but it gave the kids something to keep them entertained while getting dinner ready and before it got warm enough to head down to the lake. Be aware it's sloped though.
-The HOA beach. With bocce ball, playground and 1/2 court, plus volleyball it provided additional entertainment.
-The mattresses! When I sat on a twin in the loft to read to my kids at bedtime the foot of the bed jumped up in the air. Unfortunately the downstairs mattress is no better. They are all very soft, in a way that leads me to think that they were very, very cheap as opposed to old. Considering you can buy a decent twin at Costco for $99 and a stunningly comfortable full for $350 I don't think there is any excuse to providing crappy, uncomfortable mattresses. It's been 2 weeks since our stay and I'm still having headaches because my neck and shoulders are so knotted up from the mattress.
-Seating in the living room. The couch is comfortable, unfortunately it's the only comfy seating. My family of 4 squeezed onto to watch a movie but if my kids were much older (7 & 8 ) we wouldn't have been able to. There is easily room to have a small loveseat on the door side of the living room and while the view is nice from the table in the living room as a rental that space would be better served by actual living room seating
Thank you for your valuable feedback. We think you'll be happy to know for future visits that the home owner has replaced the mattresses. There is now a Queen bed downstairs as well as two new twins in the loft. He also added additional seating in the living room along with a flat screen TV. We hope you'll return soon to enjoy Pine Hollow.
Works for Us!
We carefully went through the VRBO site regarding this property. We knew exactly what we were getting and couldn't be happier. We were also able to contract this property late in the season. Wish we could have used the loft upstairs ! Loved the stairs leading up out of the kitchen with the "Duck" sign. If you are over 5'7, you'll need to see this prior to ascent ! :) The coffee table has a usable reference book regarding local restaurants, bike trails, hikes. The menus are not necessarily current. An easy fix. We particularly enjoyed the Fire Sign for breakfast twice, the Sunnyside for Dinner and the quirky Spoons for dessert one night. One night we grilled out on the back patio...The kitchen is well appointed. Three different areas within the cabin to dine (including the porch). Awesome. The Homeowners beach front property is the bomb! Next time we'll BBQ there.
For activities, we took the bike trail into town and out to Squaw Valley. About 18 miles total. A couple of steep areas, but gear down and you can do it. I think we got off once to walk, and that was maybe for about 30 yards. Also enjoyed the fairly new Eagle Rock trail. Only 1800 ft with 250 ft elevation gain. Fantastic view. Highly recommend. Best Birthday trip ever!
Just a few blocks (and easy walk!) from Tahoe Park Homeowner's Association Beach, Sunnyside, Firesign, and Spoon, it's close to several great summer destinations! In the winter, it's just a 10 minute drive to Homewood, and a 15 minute drive to Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows ski areas!
