Spacious 5-bedroom house in Vancouver with nice decks and beautiful view

A modern place, recently remodeled with great views of the Columbia river from the rooftop deck, with the hot tub. The pleasant neighborhood and the house sits at the end of a cul-de-sac a few blocks to the river. Driving to PDX airport is fast and easy, the traffic won't make a huge difference - however proximity to hwy makes it somewhat noisy. Going to Portland downtown in non-rush hours is also easy. The sleeping areas are on each of three floors, with the full bathroom on each floor too.

This is a beautiful home, bright and airy. The owner was easy to communicate with and very accommodating. We enjoyed cooking in the well stocked kitchen and hanging out in the hot tub on the lovely deck. Visitors should note that the house is next to a highway so it can be a bit noisy out on the deck or with the windows open.

This home has lots of potential but feels neglected. Pros: Excellent communication with the host, large and spacious, pet-friendly, fantastic views and lovely neighborhood. We arrived to find almost no toilet paper in the house and the host had some delivered within a half hour! Cons: Neglected, not clean, not well stocked, and some things are different from the VRBO photos. The backyard is now brown and overgrown. The gate doesn't latch and has a big chunk torn out so pets are not secure. There is no longer a firepit near the hot tub. It is now broken into pieces and sitting behind the hot tub. There is no couch/bed near the hot tub. All planters contain dead flora and the yard art is broken and discarded. The patio had a half drunk beer and bbq remnants left behind. The interior has cobwebs in about every corner and stretching over the beams. There were pins (like sewing pins) left behind on one of the bedroom side tables. There was big spill under the stove that leaked out onto the kitchen floor. The stove vents appear to have never been cleaned. There were only about 10 paper towels on the roll and no backup. There was no kleenex or laundry soap. Overall, the house could be great but it needs some TLC.

Thank you for the detailed review. I have already got firepit out, and instructed my cleaning lady to check for cobwebs and the stove vents. I actually do have have the furniture on the deck near the hot tub, including the coach. I am trying my best to have the house well stocked, especially kitchen, and most guests confirmed it. Probably you refer to paper towels, and I usually have extra rolls there.

The host was wonderful, quick to answer msgs, solve problems and welcoming. The house was worn out, carpet dirty, sheets and towels were awful, oven and dryer were weak and performed poorly, shades wouldn't open, lamp was taped together, wires stick out of outlets, pool table missing pockets, peeling paint. It was spacious and had nice upgrades in some places, good supplies in kitchen but needs a lot of work.

Thank you for the valuable feedback, - I have done my best to fix the issues already. I had the carpet cleaned by the professionals, they said that the stairways were indeed somewhat dirty, the rest was fine. The appliance guy found the oven working fine (heaters, thermostat etc.) and he moved the dryer away from the wall, since the pipe was bent too much and that caused its slow performance. Regarding the sheet and towels, I was surprised by your comments - the cleaning lady is regularly replacing old sheets and towels with new ones. She said you have picked up the old towels from the garage – she put them there to use with hot tub cleaning. I do have the extra towels in the closet in the house, and apparently you have not found them, sorry. The shades for the windows facing the river front have been fixed, the lamp was replaced with a new one, the low voltage wire is wrapped – it was never active actually. The pool table pockets were replaced – they got broken just before your arrival, and it took time to get new ones from Amazon.

Our family of 5 plus my daughter and her hubby stayed here for 4 nights . The host is extremely helpful and always answered all my questions and EVEN made sure we had a Christmas tree.The house advertises as a five bedroom it is only four. Three of the bedrooms have a queen bed and a single bed in each . The fourth bedroom had a couch that collapsed into a bed. The beds were fine , the fold out couches should not be considered a bed unless for maybe a child .There are huge holes in the walls from things that had been hung on the wall in the past. Huge chunks of paint missing in several areas. The carpet is torn and is dangerous as far as stepping on the nails in that spot. The basement shower had what looked like sewer backed up in it. There's a door that goes out to the backyard through the garage the space is completely filled with mold. My pregnant daughters couldn't even go around that area and the downstairs due to being a health hazard. We did not contact the host with these issues. We just did not use the basement at all . Due to the fact that it was Christmas Eve and I could see on VRBO. There was not another option for us to move into and we had all traveled from out of state to be together for the holiday.. The two upstairs bathrooms were fine no complaints. The kitchen was ok but the baking pans are not usable full of rust .The couches are not cozy and are very dirty on the arms . One of the dining chairs back is broken and pinched one of us . Thank you Tanya

I appreciate the feedback, and I apologize for the issues and the inconvenience. I am going to fix all of them asap. I believe it is just one spot where the carpet is torn. And the molded area is in the breezeway to the garage, which I will take care of, but none of my previous guests ever mentioned they had issue with it inside the house. Neither I ever heard that the couches are too small.
