Felt like home!

There is nothing we didn’t enjoy about our stay. We started our mornings with coffee on the balcony watching the deer and ended the day in the hot tub listening to the cicadas. Wish we could stay longer!

Weekend Vacation

We enjoyed the stay at Ark Bunkhouse. The listing was accurate, the check in and out was easy. The house was clean and we did not want for anything. The owner lives next door and stopped by one time to say hi and make sure we were happy or if we needed anything. He’s a very nice man. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet getaway in the country. Nice views of wildlife as well.

Wonderful Getaway and Great Host!

We booked the Ark Bunkhouse for our anniversary and really enjoyed the experience. The bunkhouse is 10 minutes from downtown Fredericksburg, but feels very private. We enjoyed the balcony as well as the bench swing outside. We spent most of our time indoors in the upstairs part of the house, and the whole house was cozy and clean. (We did encounter some tiny bugs which came in from outside, but that's really unavoidable with a cabin in the Texas springtime). We also had the amazing experience of seeing some baby lambs being born during our stay, and got to chat with Mike and his son. Additionally, Mike had a bottle of wine inside when we checked in and even gave us some eggs before we left. Overall, we had a great time and would stay here again. It was a perfect getaway!

The old west

Amazing private bunk house with hot tub on a private ranch of a sweet couple. The property was beautiful, the bunk house was like stepping back in the Texas old west, so much nostalgia in the antique and unique decor. There are chickens and a rooster named judge that does wake you up in the morning, a refreshing moment that reminds you your not in the city anymore. The hot tub is so nice in a private setting and at night the stars are so bright and abundant away from any light pollution. The property owners are a delight and even gave us a dozen fresh eggs as a parting gift! All in all it was a wonderful and relaxing experience with many memories.

We stayed 4 days and could not have been happier! We had plenty of privacy, the hottub with some local beverages was amazing in the evening despite the outside temperatures, and the cabin was decorated floor to ceiling in beautiful antiques! We were close to town but still secluded and in an intimate setting, the bed was very comfortable, and the overall feel of the place was very relaxing. The deck for watching free-range axis and whitetail deer provided a beautiful view, and Mr. Mike is a super nice man who I sought out for some good conversation and recommendations when I saw him out and about during our stay. The bunkhouse is not far from their home, however we still had complete privacy, and could not have been happier with the entire experience! Definitely recommend this hidden gem, and we will be back! Thanks Mr. Mike!

Peaceful and perfect

Everything about our stay at Mike’s property was incredibly peaceful. The construction of the Ark bunkhouse is beautiful. I loved sitting on the balcony and watching the sheep graze. It was exceptionally clean and decorated with love and attention. We will definitely be back for a peaceful getaway.

Kinda let down

My wife and I look for two things. Privacy and a hot tub. The listing pictures do not show that the property owners house is 100ft away so we felt miss led on that. Secondly the hot tub is only 110v and will not get hot if it’s cold out side also the water in it was very dirty. So other than a dirty and cold hot tub that you cannot adjust the temperature on because the temperature knob is locked with a lock on the side of it, and the feeling of no privacy it was ok.

Calming sanctuary

Such a wonderful calming sanctuary. After a long day it was great to rest in the hot tube and view the bright stars. The wonderful morning sitting sipping coffee on the balcony watching all the dears and cows was very relaxing. So nice of Michael to leave us fresh eggs at our departure.

Love the quiet country atmosphere and animals. Cute barn and decor. The hot tub under the stars was awesome. The bed was comfortable. I need fan noise to sleep at night and they had a box fan which I was super excited about! :) Received a complimentary dozen eggs from the chicken coop next door on our departure. Would definitely book again.
