Stylish, Safe & Perfect Location
The property was very clean and stylish. With it's crown moulding, doors and decor the interior has the feel and look of a Colonial home with a modern twist. Much of it is furnished with items from the United States (Pier 1, Ikea, Home Goods, etc.). Both the indoor and outdoor/patio kitchen are fully stocked with everything you might need. There is a water filtration system in the kitchen, so you will not have to worry about buying bottled water. The outdoor kitchen has a new dishwasher and stove that will be installed at some point. The king bed in the master bedroom upstairs was very comfortable (most beds in Brazil are in the hard side) as was the bedding. Soft towels in the bathrooms. The outdoor living space and pool area is gorgeous.
Just up the street the condo community has a small grocer for those little items. There are two larger grocers less than 10 minutes away. Distance-wise both are close, but it takes time to work your way through all the speed bumps. We prefer to shop at Oba Hortafruti for most of our groceries. The basics (flour, oil, cereal, milk) will be cheaper at another grocer/supermarket or Walmart.
The house is located in a gated community within 20 minutes of all the tourist-type buildings you may want to see while visiting Brasília. Lake Paranoá is also close by. Sherpa Boat Tours (meet at Jr. Marine) is also just a 20 drive. Salto do Itiquira (second tallest waterfall in Brazil) is about an 80 minute drive.
We (couple in their 40/50s with 7-year-old son) prefer not to stay within the Federal District because (1) it's not pretty -- graffiti everywhere, (2) parking can be tricky, (3) you still need wheels to get about, and (4) being approached by those in need is frequent.
Luis was our contact prior to our arrival and during our stay. Communication was super easy. We set a time when to meet at the house. Luis walked us through the house to show us how everything worked and was just a WhatsApp away for any questions. There is a list of 10 Rules to follow. Most of them were common sense, e.g., don't light the candles because they are decoration. Others were about community rules, e.g., don't put trash out on weekends or be loud after 10:00 p.m.
Luis contacted me a few days prior to our departure to set a time to turn the keys over to
cleaning lady.
This house is perfect for us (we've also stayed in a condo on Lake Paranoá, but prefer this house). This will be our first choice for future stays.
