Recently renovated and upgraded, Mirror Lake Retreat is the perfect year-round destination to enjoy both a little solitude and easy access to activities and conveniences in the surrounding area. This well-appointed retrofitted barn-style home includes all of the modern amenities - a home theater with Dolby Atmos surround and a wet bar, wifi, DirecTV, Roku, Netflix, and xbox gaming in two rooms with dozens of games.
The main gathering area seats accommodates your full group with a large table and bar seating. The kitchen is fully appointed with updated appliances including a double oven, 4-slice toaster, ground coffee/K-cup coffee and hot chocolate maker, waffle and panini grill, two blenders and all the pots, pans, Pyrex and cutlery you will need for a snack or a feast.
If you would rather disconnect from it all there is a wood stove in the comfortable family room with a very sleepable pull-out Crate and Barrel couch. Luxury mattresses and bedding and s variety of feather, down, hypoallergenic and memory foam pillows ensure a peaceful night's sleep.
The entire upstairs is a private master suite with a travel-themed office space and a separate balcony overlooking the mountains. The ensuite master bathroom includes a spacious two-head walk-in shower and imperial footed bathtub. The nautical-themed bunk bed room sleeps 8 comfortably and includes a realistic boat play area for the kids.
Summer: The property has large fire-pit in the back near by a running creek for storytelling and s'mores. When it's lights out you are presented with a deep view of the starry sky and crisp mountain air, perfect for camping on-site or for the more adventurous, at one of the many campgrounds just minutes up the road. The on-property creek contains plenty of trout, but for those who want a sure thing the Fun Family Fishing Trout Farm is walking distance. They guarantee a catch, will provide rods and even clean the fish for you while you wait. The entertainment area includes a BBQ for grilling them up for a healthy meal, and the enclosed yard allows the kids to run around without having to worry about them wandering down to the river or the road unattended. There are plenty of summer activities in the area, including dozens of hiking and biking trails, canoeing, kayaking, boating and water skiing at the nearby Jordanelle reservoir. Head the other way and you're on the scenic drive to to Mirror Lake, but don't forget to stop at the waterfall! As a testament to the location, in 2016 Mirror Lake Retreat was selected for an on-location photoshoot for Eider Sportswear.
Winter: This is snowmobiling and snowshoeing country, but several Ski resorts, including the Canyons, Park City and Deer Valley are less than 20 minutes away. The well plowed roads all winter ensure you are never snowed in. The place is just off the highway, ensuring year-round hassle-free accessibility. In the winter the National Park closes the roads, providing thousands of acres of pristine snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
Year-round: Run across the street to the Samak Smokehouse whenever you get a hankering for the best Jerky and smoked cheeses on the planet. (We've tried quite a few). This place also carries high-quality organics. Our personal favorites are the homemade caramels and pomegranate licorice. Jen and Dave will certainly take care of you and also have canoes and snowshoes for rent.
And that's not all, just up the street is The Notch Pub, serving up fish and chips and delicious home made burgers and staging live entertainment and pool competitions year-round.
Quaint Kamas Main street is only 10 minutes away, where you can find melt-in-your mouth pizzas, homeskillet breakfasts, and turn-it-upside-down malts.
After all that snacking, hit up the local rec-center to swim a few laps, float the lazy river, zip around the water slide, play a round of racquetball or climb the rock wall.
If exercise isn't your idea of a vacation, how about shopping? Park City main street and the Outlets are just a short drive away...
These are some of the many reasons we love our Mirror Lake Retreat. We hope you do too.
Notes from review feedback:
1. In early 2017 the cabin has been updated with a new tankless water heating system and backup system to ensure no further issues with hot water.
2. There is no air conditioning in this unit as it is not necessary except for a few nights each year. The cabin is nestled in a sheltered canyon which is often 10 degrees or more cooler than the surrounding area and channels a cool breeze in the summer. We have found that there are only a handful of nights a year when it feels warm, and overhead and portable fans are available for these times.

About Krista Stevens
We are an international family who has lived across the globe. We have had many people open their doors to us, and are excited to share our home with others.
Krista Stevens purchased this House in 2010
Why Krista Stevens chose Samak
We are world travelers who bought the Mirror Lake Retreat as a place we can always go home to. After a lot of time searching through Tahoe and Park City, we finally found 'the one' We loved that it was so central to so many things, convenient yet remote enough to feel like we were truly getting away from it all.
What makes this House unique
The idea of a retrofitted barn wasn't what we had in mind for a cabin, but when we actually saw it inside and out, we fell in love with its unique quality, solid craftsmanship, and the firepit and stream! Our family reunions have been pretty fun the past couple of years. We understand that every group has a different idea of what a vacation should be. Actually, sometimes every person in a group has a different idea of what a vacation should be, and this place can cater to all of them.

It's a barn with a modern feel on the inside. I was worried about the wifi before going up to the cabin but it worked fine!!! It'sa smart home on the inside which we really liked. We had 3 TVs playing online gaming and one watching Netflix and they weren't having any issues. It was a fun placeto get away to!!!
Great Stay in Kamas
The property was extremely clean, spacious, and well-furnished. It also provided all the kitchen supplies a large group, like we were, needed to cook properly. And if the skiing is what you hoped for, the home theater provides plenty of entertainment during down time. Don't let the 15 extra minutes to Park City or the Canyons make you stray away from this beautiful property.
We come to Park City every year. This house had everything we needed and more. The owner was very accommodating and responsive. The disposer didn’t work when we first arrived but she was able to get someone to fix it the very next day. The backyard was big, and and the fire pit was an added bonus. Kids loved running around the backyard and so did my dogs. Thank you, hope to be back next year :)
We were 10 people who went to Park city to Ski and snow board. This house was convenient to so many mountains and only 15 minutes from main street park city. We cooked at least 2 meals a day at the house and the kitchen has everything we needed. The movie room was awesome not only for the movies but video games as well which came with the house. Super easy check in and check out process. Only small suggestion we had would be water pressure was low when multiple showers were taken. We would do this again the next time we come back to UTAH.
Better Than Expected
We had a wonderful time in Kamas and our accommodations couldn't have been better! Those who have come before have left plenty of spices and cooking supplies like flour, sugar, salt, etc... If you are staying for a few days I would recommend not shopping until you see what is already in the cabin. There is a really good grocery store not 10 min away.
The rooms are all cozy and much thought went into setting them up. The kids room is great as well as the family room with the projection tv and games. The upstairs master suite is great but the two headed shower would be better with better water pressure. One head is great but when you turn both on you just get a trickle.
It snowed two days before we arrived but waiting for us was an igloo, and a great little hill made of snow for sledding. Our grandson loved it and had plenty to do.
It's a beautiful area and the cabin is wonderful. We will be back.
Strengthen Family Connections Here!
Our family from east and west chose to meet here. What at great site! The kids were wowed by the bunk beds, boat, and big screen. The grand table facilitated great conversation at meals and games. Kitchen and refrigeration were ample as we brought up ingredients for favorite family recipes. The kitchen is fully equipped. The arrangement of bedrooms and baths provided privacy, quiet and comfort for our three families, total 11 people.. We didn't want to be in a city neighborhood, so we didn't mind the distance from Park City or Sundance. We loved the drive to Sundance! The local Kamas grocers covered what we didn't have. We had a perfect time. The whole family said "yes" we want to do this again HERE.
Thank you for your review of our property. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and would love to host you again in the future. We appreciate the care you gave our property and the clean condition in which you left it.
