Welcoming and Warm Home
This home is a very well appointed, welcoming, and cared for home in a beautiful suburb about 35 minutes from Philadelphia. Rod is an excellent host who has thoughtfully prepared his home to welcome guests. The home has all of the amenities one could need and more and is in a great location that is in walking distance to shops and restaurants and driving distance to local attractions such as the King of Prussia mall. We highly recommend this home and hope to stay in the home again when we return to the area.
Great weekend stay with our adult children
We stayed at Rod's house while in town for a family event. There were 5 adults and we had plenty of room. The house was spotless! The kitchen had absolutely everything that we needed. The living room was very comfortable and large. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms were completely stocked including shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The bath towels were over-sized and soft! We will definitely stay at this house again while in town visiting with family.
Kathleen - Thanks you for your kind review, and so glad your stay was comfortable. Rod
Listing Says It All
Very nice home, neighborhood and owner. The home was clean, plenty of amenities in the neighborhood and owner extremely responsive. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful experience. The house was spotless and had all the amenities we needed. It was in a terrific location. Walking distance to many great restaurants and shops. We would highly recommend this property!
Everything you may need is probably within a 15 mins walk...even an ice-cream store! Restaurants: There are so many within walking distance I recommend opening the Yelp app for Bryn Mawr (or Trip Advisor, Open Table) and searching from there. BYOB's restaurants are very popular in PA due to state regulations. Walk to the state liquor store 5 mns from house, grab some vino and head off to one of many popular BYOB's in the area. Recommended: Lourdas, Fraschetta. Fine Dining: Enoteca Tredicci (not BYOB). Coffee Shops: La Colombe Coffee is 5 mns walk just before fire station on left. Hothouse Coffee is one of my favorites right next to Bryn Mawr Movie Theater (entrance/foyer restored to its former Art Deco glory). Aneu coffee shop on way to Rosemont train station (yoga studio on upper flr) is another favorite .
Pub grub: Gulliftys (a local sports bar), The Grog.
Mexican: Qdobo right around the corner.
Snap Custom Pizza across the street from Qdobo.
Bryn Mawr Farmers Market (open Saturdays 9 to 1 in the summer), located across from the Post Office and train station. Mom's Organic Market is in Rosemont Mall about 2 blocks away (next to Gullifty's).
Acme Supermarket (newly renovated) is 0.6 mls away eastward on Lancaster Ave (Rte 30).
The King of Prussia Mall is 20 mins drive from the house as is Valley Forge National Park.
Bryn Mawr Hospital is 1/2 mile away eastward.
Parks & Playgrounds: A recent guest recommended this nearby park for the kids - "We went to the park at Old Lancaster Ave and Warner. It was great, it had a big play structure for older kids and a smaller play structure for toddlers, which was perfect for Anna. I'd recommend it for your future guests".
Gardens: Chanticleer is a beautiful garden 15 mns drive from our house, It is one of the great gardens of the region. Once the Rosengarten estate, today's Chanticleer is a colorful, contemporary garden within an historic setting. Discover why London's Financial Times calls Chanticleer "planted to perfection" and Garden Design magazine says it is "America's most inspiring garden."
Longwood Garden - 45 mns drive in Brandywine Valley.
About Rod Carroll
I enjoy Life, my family, playing tennis, golf, traveling to anywhere and everywhere, good food (Mediterranean cuisine especially) and good wine, exercising, new ideas, non-fiction, historical novels, history, watching Premier League soccer games on TV (Liverpool and Barcelona are my two favorite teams). My favorite movie is The Irishman, The Godfather (2) with The Deerhunter a close second but then there's Being There...and who doesn't love Casablanca? I was born in Liverpool in England and grew up in Dublin, Ireland. I have lived in the US since the 1980's.

Why Rod Carroll chose Bryn Mawr
Great location - Situated in the mature suburbs of Philadelphia known as The Main Line, we're 30 ms to Phila., 10 mns to I-476 and thus 2 hrs to Manhattan , 2.5 hrs to Washington DC, 1.5 hrs to beaches, 1-5 hrs to PA mountains.
What makes this House unique
I have lived on the Main Line and worked in the Education field for many years. Bryn Mawr is a great base for visiting local colleges and universities. Haverford College, Bryn Mawr College, Rosemont, Villanova University, Swarthmore College, Arcadia University, Univ of Penna, Temple are all within a short drive of our house.
