Hemingway sleeps six across three bedrooms — loft king, main floor queen, lower level king — with an open main floor that keeps the group together and a lower level that gives everyone somewhere to land.
Named for Ernest Hemingway — who lived as hard as he wrote, and always found his way back to the water and the woods — it's one of four cabins at Notestone Reserve, our family-owned 14-acre property in Laurelville.
⭐ What You'll Love • Three sleeping areas across two levels and a loft — everyone has somewhere to land, nobody's on the couch • A lower level built for the long evening — king bed, game table, arcade machine, 65" TV • Covered hot tub off the lower level, ready in any weather • Fire pit that earns its keep once the sun goes down (firewood on site) • The shared game room just a short walk across the property — pool table, arcade, 85" TV, and more
🌲 Outside • Covered deck off the main floor with seating • Fire pit for s’mores, stargazing, and evening conversations (firewood on site) • Personal hot tub off the lower level — covered, so it works in any weather • Propane grill with tools
🏠 Sleeping • Loft: king bed • Main floor: queen bedroom • Lower level: king bedroom • Pack 'n play available on site — just give us a heads up. Sheets not included, so bring your own if needed.
🍳 Main Floor Open concept kitchen, living, and dining — the kind of layout where whoever's cooking is still part of the conversation. Bluetooth speaker for the background noise. Full kitchen with everything you need to cook a real meal. Seating for 4 at the island and table seating for 3. • A heads up: no garbage disposal or dishwasher — plan accordingly for longer stays. • Kitchen stocked with the basics to get you started — salt, pepper, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, foil, and cooking spray.
🚿 Bathrooms Two full bathrooms with showers — one on the main floor, one on the lower level.
🎮 Lower Level • King bedroom • Living area with 65" Smart TV • Arcade machine • Game table
🐾 Dogs Welcome Up to 2 dogs allowed per stay. One crate is provided. Dogs must remain leashed on the property and off the furniture. A $100 pet fee applies per stay.
🏡 The Shared Game Room Open to every Notestone guest, just a short walk across the property: • 85" Smart TV • Pool table • Foosball • Basketball arcade • Classic arcade machines and a racing game • Legos, card and board games, indoor cornhole • Plus an outdoor playground for the kids (big and small)
🧴 What's Here When You Arrive Every bathroom comes stocked with the good stuff — shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion. One less thing to remember when you're packing for the weekend.
We provide a starter kit of the essentials — 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, a roll of paper towels, a kitchen sponge, and trash liners. We recommend bringing a little extra just in case.
🗺️ What's Nearby Notestone Reserve sits in the heart of the Hocking Hills, close enough to hit two or three trails in a day and still be back in time for the fire pit.
Rock House — 7 minutes Conkle's Hollow — 15 minutes Old Man's Cave — 20 minutes Ash Cave — 26 minutes
Cedar Falls, Cantwell Cliffs, and the rest of the state park system are all within a short drive as well.
📶 About the WiFi We offer Starlink satellite internet. In general it holds up well — most guests have no trouble streaming movies or music without issue. That said, satellite internet is a different animal than what you're used to at home. Video calls and long phone calls can cut out from time to time, especially on cloudy days when the router is working harder to find its signal. We'd rather tell you upfront than have you find out mid-Zoom. If you're planning to work remotely during your stay, it can work — just plan for the occasional hiccup.
🌿 A Note on the Setting We're in a wooded area, and while we stay on top of regular pest control, the occasional ladybug or curious spider showing up is just nature doing its thing.
📋 A Few Things to Note We're a small, family-owned operation, and keeping Notestone calm and well-kept is a group effort. A few things we ask: • No parties or events, including bachelor/bachelorette groups. And no glitter — it never, ever goes away. • Only registered guests on the property • No smoking, vaping, fireworks, ATVs, hunting, or weapons • No commercial photography or videography without written approval • Hot tub: use the striped towels provided and keep the cover on between soaks • Septic-safe: flush toilet paper only; no garbage disposal at the sink • Under normal conditions, our driveways are accessible in just about any vehicle. Hemingway does have a steeper approach, and for that we strongly recommend four wheel drive or all wheel drive during winter months when ice and snow are a factor. • Check-in: 4:00 PM / Check-out: 11:00 AM
✏️ Before You Arrive All guests sign a simple renter agreement once you book. We'll send it over — quick, painless, and it helps us take good care of you and everyone else on the property.

Beautiful cabin in a relaxing setting. All the comforts/amenities of home but without all of the home responsibilities. Excellent communication prior to arrival and during our stay. Comfy beds, very clean and well kept get away. Would stay again!

Family Weekend Getaway
We truly enjoyed our time staying in The Hemingway. Beautiful aesthetic, family friendly, and well appointed cabin. Our kids loved the community room, the fire pit and hot tub were also a hit. Very comfortable beds and linens. Lots of lovely touches and relaxing spaces. We hope to return again.
The home was clean and so FUN to engage with family in. We appreciated the aesthetic of everything. Thank you for providing such a beautiful place for us to enjoy Thanksgiving.

Hemmingway was a beautiful property and we enjoyed our stay tremendously. What a great place to stay in Hocking Hills.
Hemmingway was a wonderful place to stay in Hocking Hills. The property was beautiful. The hot tub was so fun. The game room was so much fun too. They have something for every age and everyone. We would definitely come back to stay again. Only thing I would add is bring a couple flashlights if you’re staying during the winter time when we did just to help go up the hill to the game room.
Had a wonderful time! House was beautiful and clean, kitchen was well stocked (pots, pans, dishes, etc.), location made it easy to get to popular hiking spots, beds were comfy, plenty of room, relaxing scenery. Management was extremely responsive and helpful. They provided soap/shampoo, ground coffee, firewood, and even had a welcome basket for our dog. Highly recommend!

First stay in Hocking Hills
Accommodations at Notestone and specifically, The Hemingway, really allowed our family to relax and spend some quality time together. The property is definitely tucked away but modern which is exactly what we needed to feel like we could just enjoy being there to kick back. Our kids loved the game room and hot tub, especially during the light snow. Morning sunrise through the big bay windows was a huge plus! Although you’ll need to bring in your grooves in advance since stores are about 20-25 minutes away, everything you need to make meals is provided, down to muffin pans and a corkscrew. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we look forward to coming back.
Beautiful Cabin! It was so cozy, warm and inviting. Had everything we needed. Pretty secluded and private with a lot of woods around. Great fire pit-hot tub smelled a bit musty but we really enjoyed our stay! The little touches like bowls and treats for our dogs was so nice!

A gorgeous, relaxing stay!
Our party of four loved how well-appointed and well-designed the Heminway is. The furniture and decor are lovely. The multiple seating areas allowed everyone to enjoy different areas of the home. Morning coffee on the porch with the wind whistling in the trees was delightful. Thank you for all the small extra touches and great communication. As are most locations in the Hocking Hills area, this was a rural drive from everywhere, but the remoteness is what people often seek. We will definitely recommend to our friends!
The property is remote enough that you feel like you’ve gotten away, but still close to the Hocking Hills Park attractions. We most enjoyed spending time relaxing on the back porch overlooking the woods and pond, but also enjoyed the game room. Helpful and friendly owners were onsite at the common area and checked in with us each day to see if we needed anything. The cabin was very clean and had lots of amenities. We had a great stay.

Beautiful and Serene
My family enjoyed a beautiful weekend getaway at Hemingway. The house is gorgeous, clean, and very well stocked. I appreciate how intentional the owners are- stocking the house with little things like a clothes steamer, bottled water, kitchen items, shampoo, etc so you don’t have to worry about a thing. The beds were beyond comfortable and the linens were luxurious. Stacey was very responsive and helpful- We can’t wait to come back!
First time in the area and we picked an excellent place to stay! Stacey was very responsive and helpful. Kids (and parents) loved the game room, hot tub and fire pit. Everything was very clean and well designed. Would definitely stay again. Excited to see what this place will look like in another year's time (still under some construction while we were there)!** no dishwasher or washer or dryer**
The Hemingway is a beautiful and clean cabin! Perfect for our family of 4. The hosts have put a lot of small details into this wonderful space. We enjoyed the hot tub and the shared game space on the property. Loved the large windows and spacious balcony. Kitchen was well equipped for cooking meals. If expecting snow, may want to discuss accessibility to property and cabin with hosts prior to visit.

Private Family Experience
We stayed at the Hemingway for a long weekend trip. The place was amazing! Our family of 5 (plus 1 dog) had plenty of room to relax and unwind after a day full of hiking. We enjoyed having coffee outside on the deck watching the sunrise in the morning and listening to the sound of birds chirping away. The community game room was a great place to go enjoy fun and games as a family. We will definitely be back next time we take a trip to Hocking Hills!

Wonderful Serene Escape!
We had the privilege of staying at the Hemingway rental a few weeks ago and couldn't have been more impressed! The home was immaculate with luxurious amenities and a contemporary, airy design. The days that the weather was dry, we relaxed on the lovely deck and when it was rainy and a little chilly, we warmed up in the hot tub - which was fully covered so we could fully escape the rain! We had an opportunity to meet the owners, Mark and one of his daughter's, Stacey, who were great to talk to and very accommodating. The beds were comfortable and the lower level was a nice place to end the day! We had our dog with us and he felt very spoiled with his own little welcome basket! The completed property will be a perfect vacation retreat with something for everyone and we look forward to coming back again soon!

You Won't Find a Better Place In All Of Hocking Hills
This is the best spot in all of Hocking Hills - accommodations are like no other! The property is tucked into a beautiful, very private spot with ample space between each cabin. The cabins are so comfortable with anything needed - wifi was plenty quick enough to stay connected. Super pet friendly with a goody basket provided for our fur baby. Plenty of coffee provided for the stay and the bottles of water in the fridge were perfect to take on those daily hikes. Our favorite spot in the house was the porch - pure solitude to sit out sheltered by any weather and just relax. The kids LOVED the game room - a great spot to walk to when the rain hit. We cannot wait to come back. 10 out of 10 stars! You won't be disappointed.

We loved it!
You won't be disappointed in choosing Hemingway.
The house is updated and has everything you will need. I highly recommend and will be staying there on our next visit.
Hi, I'm Stacey — one of the founders of Notestone Reserve, and the person who's been hands-on in shaping every space on the property.
Restoration is something I think about a lot. The idea that something with potential can become something worth keeping — that broken pieces, arranged with care, can turn into something magnificent. Stained glass works that way. So does Notestone.
This property started as a vision and a lot of hard work. What it is now — ten units across 14 acres in the heart of Hocking Hills, each one named for a writer who paid attention to the world around them — is the result of believing that where you rest matters.
Every detail reflects what I personally look for when I travel: comfort without pretense, nature without roughing it. The kind of place where memories get made without trying — and you leave with a story worth telling.
I'm proud of what we've built. And I'd love to have you here.
Welcome to Notestone Reserve.
What makes this property unique
Hemingway is a cabin for six with three sleeping areas, an open main floor that keeps the group connected, and a lower level built for the long evening — king bed, game table, arcade machine, 65" TV. The covered hot tub is off the lower level and ready in any weather.
As a Notestone Reserve guest you'll also have access to our shared community game room — pool table, basketball arcade, classic arcade machines, and a TV lounge. Most nights it's all yours. It's the kind of bonus that turns a rainy afternoon into the highlight of the trip.
Notestone Reserve sits in Laurelville, right in the heart of Hocking Hills. The trails and waterfalls are a short drive away — Rock House just 3.3 miles out. The kind of location that gives you every reason to get out and explore, and every reason to come back.
