Why john chappell chose Bryson City
My wife and I lived in Va.Beach always like the mountain. While in Al. on business. We pick up a brochure to rent a cabin in the smoky mountain. We spent a week in a small cabin with no view, that not what we came to the mountain to see. We meet a real state person that loves the area show us place after place. After a fewer days we fell in love with Bryson City and them he show the cabin we were looking for (Over The Edge) it needed work but setting on the deck it look like a million dollar. So 10 year later we don’t get there as much as we would like so we hope you will love it as much as we do. Thanks John & Vickie Chappell

We make a trip to the mountains every year and this place by far is one of our most favorite. It was very private and secluded yet close to a lot of cool attractions. Our highlights included trout fishing at a local trout pond, trying our luck in the casino in Cherokee, and getting a glimpse of some wild elk in the area that have recently been introduced back in to North Carolina. John (the owner) called us the day we arrived to make sure we had settled in and had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this to anyone traveling up in that area.
Very clean and cozy!
We absolutely loved everything about this place! Beautiful view of the mountains and very quiet and peaceful. The place was clean and cozy. We wil definitely be returning!
Quiet and relaxing
This is a quiet getaway with an awesome view. Hot tub was nice with a view. House was clean and had everything we needed.
Quiet mountain view - restorative weekend.
I was looking for an affordable cabin with a private hot tub and a mountain view, and this place fit the bill. The interior is simple and perhaps dated, but that isn't why you book a place like this, is it? We loved the view and listening to the birds.
The gravel drive is a little tricky in a small sedan, but doable.
Overall impression is that you go for the view and the hot tube
Its a difficult road up to "over the edge" but we managed in our 4 door sedan. The the unmarked roads were difficult to traverse. We wouldn't even try the road up the mountain at night for it was barely a road to begin with. Once you get to the top the view is beautiful but could be enhanced by the cutting of some trees. The overall property could use some updates and a thorough cleaning and maybe some pest control. There was a family of stink bugs that had taken over residence on the ceiling. The beds were old and whore out. It is secluded which was nice if that is what you are looking for. Go for the view and the hot tube. Overall we had a good stay but probably wouldn't go back.
A very nice and secluded cabin in the mountains. The cabin itself is well stocked with everything needed for the stay. The view is gorgeous! We will surly be back again.
