Named after the historic Shirley Plantation, the room has a full-sized bed with private bath and overlooks the estate’s bucolic pastures and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The private bath has vintage fixtures including a claw-foot tub/shower combination. Due to historic nature of the manor house, there are no elevators to the second floor bedrooms and access is only via stairways. All rooms are double occupancy. Children over the age of 12 are welcome.
The historic mansion now functions as a bed & breakfast.

About Cliff DeVito
Owners Chris Walker and Cliff DeVito purchased the Forest Oaks estate in 2011 and have been diligently working on restoring the property since then. It was love at first site when the owners first walked into the Manor House, in-spite of the amount of work that would be needed to bring the property back to its original beauty. The transition from their home in Phoenix, Arizona to a rural Virginia lifestyle was seamless since both Chris and Cliff were looking for a change from the desert southwest climate. The four-season climate, lush vegetation and history of the region was a natural draw. Restoring Forest Oaks has become a passion as is sharing the estate’s beauty and history with the public.

An absolutely stunning place to stay.
Beautiful place & very tastefully decorated. Cliff and Chris were both very professional and welcoming. The breakfast dishes were always delicious. I will definitely come back.
A beautiful property and professional hosts
This historic mansion sits on a large piece of land in the beautiful natural bridge region of the Shenandoah valley. As first timers to the area, my wife and I were blown away by the natural fall beauty. Despite being surrounded by the picturesque autumn foliage, the home itself was not overshadowed. Perfectly restored by the owners Dan and Cliff, we felt as though we had gone through a Time Machine and found ourselves in the home of a wealthy industrialist from the turn of the century. We were surprised by the fact that very little of the furnishings are actually original to the home but were instead hand picked and purchased by its latest owners.
Despite the grandiose appearance of the bed and breakfast, the hosts were down to earth and approachable. They gave us guests plenty of space while at the same time were available when needed.
The breakfast provided was very well done as well, with generous portions and was delectable.
You can tell this was truly a labor of love. My wife and I will most definitely be on a return visit.
A true Gem!
This property is absolutely beautiful. Cliff and Chris are delightful hosts. A must stay!
Tony & Janice's Enchanting Stay at Forest Oaks!
Our 4 day, 3 night stay at Forest Oaks was the highlight of our vacation. From the moment we turned into the driveway, it was a magical sight of history past. The view was spectacular.
When we first stepped into the house, Cliff made us feel right at home. The tour he gave us and the history shared was a welcoming part of our experience. Each room is carefully and lovingly decorated to the time period of the early 1900's. The rooms are breathtaking and amazingly restored down to the smallest detail. Our room was the Shirley room. It was very comfortable and cozy.
We loved sitting in the rocking chairs on the portico, admiring the view of the fields, trees and mountains. Another favorite of ours was the morning breakfast. Cliff and Chris excelled in preparation of this wonderful meal each morning. The smells and tastes were delightful, and we never left the table hungry.
We thoroughly enjoyed each moment of our stay, and are looking forward to re-booking again for this unique experience.
"You have to go. Won't regret it. We love the guys and the place.
Thank you Cliff and Chris.
Words can't describe how great!
The property is beautifully landscaped and has a stellar scenic view in the Shenandoah Valley. The Inn itself is spotlessly clean and impeccably decorated with gorgeous antique furniture and flair, yet also has modern amenities like free wifi and great air conditioning. The owners Chris and Cliff treated us like family while still maintaining professionalism and told us the interesting history of the property and its renovations over the years since the 1800's. We stayed in the Shirley Room which had crisp linens and comfortable full size bed and sprawling view out back. Breakfast was amazing homemade mini quiches and fresh fruit salad in the huge formal dining room. Location is minutes from Natural Bridge Park which wàs great for light hiking. We will definitely return with family and friends in the future.
Natural Bridge and the surrounding area are teaming with history, fun and beauty. Spend a day strolling through the historic town of Lexington, hike in the George Washington and Jefferson national forest, fish in any number of streams and rivers, or spend a day kayaking or tubing on the James River. You can also visit our local Natural Bridge zoo and the Virginia Safari Park or spend time marveling at Virginia’s crown jewel, the Natural Bridge and the Natural Bridge Caverns. Once you experience the beauty and history of our area, you will want to come back again to take more in.
