About Marie Dingfelder

We are Alan and Marie Dingfelder. We have been married for 51 years and have 2 grown children and 1 grandson. We both grew up in Corry, PA and moved to North East 40 years ago. We live next door to the property. We are calling our vacation rental a guest house because that's just what it is. We have a pretty small house and when we have company from out of town, it is hard to know where to put them. When we renovated the property, we decided it would be a good idea to no longer rent it full time but to use it for our visiting family and guests. We like the results so much that we may at some point decide to move in there ourselves. We have settled on A & M Guest House for the name of the property. We would be happy to have you as our guests.

Why Marie Dingfelder chose Great Lakes

There are some beautiful properties here in North East. Although our guest house is not on the beach, we think it is in a great location. We are about 3 miles out of North East and only 15 or 20 minutes from Erie. The town of North East has a lot to offer in quaint shops and popular yearly events like the North East Cherry Festival in July, the Wine Fest, Rib Fest, and others. The property is private with off road parking. The drawback is we are located near a railroad crossing. People either love or hate the trains. If you hate them and the noise from them, you may want to avoid our place.

What makes this mobile home unique

Centrally located between North East and Erie, PA. Keep in mind North East is the name of the town, not the location. We are located in the northwest corner of Pennsylvania. This property is completely remodeled inside and out. There is always lots going on in this part of the country. Every season offers something new - summer and winter sports, entertainment, shopping, located in grape country. The property is on a large lot with lots of off road parking. You can be comfortable and assured of your privacy. Kind of like a little 'home away from home'.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Alan and Marie, We had a wonderful and relaxing weekend - all thanks to you! Your guest house is always clean and comfortable when we stay. We greatly appreciate you welcoming our fur kids too! They love the quiet and relaxing atmosphere you and North East provide. We can't wait to come back next year. Thank you so much!

Clean well stock rental. We felt like we were at home

  • 5 of 5

It's was perfect. Plenty of room for 5 adults and the dog. The scenery surrounding the property was beautiful, especially with the light snow we had all weekend. We were given our privacy as well. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Owner's Response: Thank you Kayce, for the nice review. We certainly enjoyed having you next door. For 5 adults and a dog, you were certainly quiet. We always like to give our guests privacy - just the way we like it when we go on vacation. Please consider staying with us any time you come this way. Thank you for your kind words and for taking such good care of the place, and thank you for doing laundry. It surely helped me get ready for the next guests. It was much appreciated. Hope to see you again some day. P.S. we will be keeping our eyes open for your key and mail it back to you if we should find it.

Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful place to stay! My husband and 3 kids absolutely loved being surrounded by grape vineyards. It made it so peaceful and relaxing. The trains didn't bother us at all, my kids actually loved watching them go by! Everything was very well stocked and we loved being able to sit outside around the fire at night. Definitely would recommend to stay and we will definitely stay again in the future!

very nice

  • 4 of 5

mostly positive- we were warned not to drink the polluted well water and we worried if it was safe to brush our teeth in it- the trains came by almost all night the first night we were there which made it hard for my sister to fall asleep. Very nice setup and stocked with all you need. Lots of room for us to enjoy our stay

Owner's Response: What we actually say is, We don’t recommend drinking the water from the tap. The water on this property is supplied by a water well. We are in an area where sprays are used for grapes and other orchard fruits. The water is fine for showers, laundry and dishes but we recommend bringing your own water for drinking or making coffee. There will be a gallon of water in the fridge to start you off. We feel it best that our guests know all the facts about the property. No where do we warn anyone about polluted water. Our well passes state water tests and is tested periodically. We merely state our personal preferences and give our guests an opportunity to decide for themselves. We clearly explain about the trains both in our rental agreement and the added information. While it is good for guests to know your experience with the trains, it is clear that is one thing we cannot improve on.

Absolutely PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5

We've been staying in hotels for as long as I can remember, but with five kids? That gets crowded and expensive real quick! This place was a reasonably priced Home away from home. Perfect amount of space. (Which included a big beautiful back yard with a fire pit we utilized every night.) Thank you so much for everything!! You made us one happy family!

Located in Historic North East, Pennsylvania, 1/4 mile south of Route 20, 5 minutes from downtown North East, 30 minutes from Erie Airport. Also about 5 minutes to the Moorheadville Airport: grass strip. Surrounded by grape vineyards on private, large lot. Awesome sunsets. Short distance from Lake Erie Beaches, Wineries, Presque Isle Downs Casino, Peak'n Peak Ski Resort, Lake Chautauqua, Lake Erie Speedway, Bayfront Convention Center, Tom Ridge Center, Presque Isle Peninsula, Waldameer Amusement Part, Splash Lagoon Water Park and more. Railroad tracks border the north side of the property, separated by a large field. Some days the trains are busy, some days we don't see them at all. If you are a train buff, the Lake Shore Railway Museum is just downtown. Minutes to Walmart, Giant Eagle, Bob Evans, Applebee's, Taco Bell and others. Local yearly attractions include the North East Cherry Festival and Wine Festival.
