About Sue

We have been married for 40 years, have 2 grown children, 2 grandchildren. We have lived at Aunt Sukies for over 20 years and have worked to establish gardens, lawns, relaxing outside areas. Dan was formerly a teacher, Sue was a social worker. We go to Florida in the winter but Wellfleet remains our 'true home'.

Sue purchased this cottage in 1984

Why Sue chose Cape Cod

Aunt Sukie was a distant relative who my grandparents bought the house from and moved it to its present location in 1929. In l984 my husband and I bought the house from my grandparents and in l992 we built an addition and started our B&B.

What makes this cottage unique

We are located on private beach with tidal waters, warm for swimming, good for shelling . We are experienced in the B&B business and are opening our cottage this year. Breakfast and the NY Times are delivered to your door each morning! Sue loves gardening and Dan can fix anything, a good combination!

Bikes can be rented at either trailhead. We also have many miles of 'back roads' perfect for exploring our ponds, forests and beaches. Wellfleet has one of the few remaining drive-in movie theaters with current movies. The drive in space doubles as a flea market several days each week. There are also 4 indoor movie screens on site. We also have a new cultural center in a restored historic building in the center of town where such activities as zumba,a farmers market, and live performances can be found. We have the Wellfleet Actors Theatre, the Harbor Stage Company, and free Shakespeare readings 2 evenings a week. Our library has many guest speakers of note(many are residents of Wellfleet) and a huge book sale 2X per summer. The restaurants, many, varied, all featuring seafood as well as meat and vegetarian menus.

Beautiful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage's interior design was very nice, newly renovated. I especially love the design of the spacious but quaint bedroom loft. Gardens and the b&b are also beautiful! Having the private beach just beyond the property perfected it. My husband and I spent the week here for our honeymoon and everything was perfect. We really enjoyed cooking local seafood on the grill and had a couple romantic dinners on the nice deck attached with the view of the bay and property. The description was accurate, it was clean and nicely maintained by the owners removing trash and recycling each day, excellent customer service. Dan and Sue kindly provided us breakfast each morning, which was a lovely time to connect with other travelers and enjoy the lovely morning beachside. The owners even gave us many suggestions for restaurants and things to do both in the town and other areas of the Cape. We really enjoyed renting a boat for a day right there from the Wellfleet marina, you can take a motor boat out in the bay and fish, and there's plenty of restaurants and great shops right in town! We would love to come back someday!!

The Cottage at Aunt Sukie's

  • 5 of 5

We loved every detail of Sue and Dan's wonderful cottage and of our time spent there. The cottage was spacious, immaculate and charming with an incredible deck. We also loved Sue's great breakfasts, at her B and B. The delivery of the NY times every morning was a great perk, along with Sue and Dan's warm hospitality, if ever we needed anything. We hope to make this one of our repeat home away from homes as often as possible!

Cottage on the Bay

  • 5 of 5

The cottage in Wellfleet was not only clean, but equipped with bedding, towels etc. The most beautiful views of the bay that anyone could imagine. The owners, Sue and Dan are friendly and welcoming. The best stay in Cape Cod ever! Thank you Sue and Dan! Jacque and Steve

An experience rather than just a rental!

  • 5 of 5

We sent our adult son and daughter in law here as a Christmas present in 2013 and they raved about it so we decided to book it for ourselves this year! When the kids came they went hiking, sea kayaking, biking, whale watching etc.

When Lou and I went we RELAXED...walked the beach in search of shells and views, ate incredible meals in town (we walked to the pier along the beach and back by the road for dinner a few different times which was a highlight). We strolled and browsed art galleries in this cute town one night. There was some great birding in the grassland between the cottage and the beach. Gardens onsite are well cared for.

Hosts are lovely and helpful when needed but otherwise gave us our privacy.

The bed was comfortable, the cottage was clean and new, deck was private and quiet with birds chirping all around. I highly recommend this experience. It is an experience rather than just a rental!

Cant wait to go back

  • 5 of 5

As part of my 50th birthday celebration, my girlfriend and went to Cape Cod. It was the first time to the Cape for both of us. We stayed in Dan & Sue's cottage. It was a very quaint B&B situated on the waterfront with a natural grassy buffer between the cottage and bay. Dan and Sue were both very friendly, gracious and hospitable hosts. They pointed us in the right direction every step of the way as far as activities, parking, shopping, dining and helped us to optimize our time while visiting Cape Cod. Their location was great. The accommodations were spotless and included a high grade Weber BBQ. We barbequed local striped bass one night along with a couple of boiled lobster that was prepared for us, cracked and bagged at a local seafood market along with corn on the cob......... the perfect meal overlooking the bay! As an appetizer, we ate clams and oysters right of the bay (during a walk out during low tide) and were given an impromptu history of Wellfleet fishing by one of the local fisherman. The restaurants in Wellfleet were great and there were a couple of excellent local seafood markets on the pier and in town. We are planning on making it out there again for sure. Spectacular Cahoon Hollow Beach was one of the highlights for us (as was it's famous "Beachcomber" Restaurant & Bar set atop the beach some 100ft up with great vistas). Whale watching in nearby Provincetown and seal watching in Chatham also made the A list. The trip will definitely go down as one of our most memorable!

Aunt Sukies Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time at the cottage. It was a relaxing week with great breakfasts, great conversation and new friends. We met each morning for breakfast then everyone went off to do their own things. The beach was right there. You could pick up a chair and walk the foot bridge to the beach. When the tide was in the swimming was perfect each day. The newly built cottage was perfect. Everything was there that you would need for a great vacation. The gluten free baked goods were excellent. Our hosts Sue and Dan were wonderful. They took good care of everyone. This was our first vacation without our children and it was great. I wish we could have stayed longer!

Owner's Response: This is the first season for our Cottage. While still a part of the B&B, the Cottage provides more, separate and private space for guests. We have had 5 couples enjoy the cottage so far, with several booking for next year! Breakfast can be taken at the Cottage but all guests so far have elected to join the plein air breakfast on the deck at the B&B,enjoying a chance to meet other guests. Thanks for the great review!
