About Gretchen

We live in Raleigh, NC but all of our extended family live on the North Shore so we regularly spend holidays and summer vacations there. Knowing the beauty of this beach, and the restorative affect of this location, we wanted to be able to share it with others.

Gretchen purchased this house in 2012

Why Gretchen chose Haleiwa

Our family lives right next door to this house so we are quite familiar with this secluded beach, the wide span of sand here, the gorgeous views from this property and the beauty of the area. When the house came on the market this recent summer, we knew that we wanted to have a place to call our own for the future.

What makes this house unique

The beach at this location is unique because, typically, only residents of Ke Iki Road use this beach. To be able to vacation on such a lovely spot with so few beach-goers is unique and rather restorative.

We had a wonderful time ! Relaxing very clean and comfortable. We were 5 Adults. Having the extra Studio downstairs was great. Enjoyed many walks on the track as well as bike rides. The house has everything you need for a day on the beach. Gretchen, Mandy and Family were extremely helpful. Thank-you for sharing your Wonderful Home Gretchen.

Great Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the Haleiwa Beach house. Upstairs and downstairs studio made it easy to spread out (stairs on outside to upstairs and downstairs which makes it more private). Cooked dinners in house most evenings after watching sunset from the deck and ventured out during the day. We were there Dec 28-Jan 4 so beach had high waves and we could walk to Pipeline and watched great surfing. For our level of water experience we walked and snorkeled at Sharks Cove and drove to Kuilima Cove were you can park at Turtle Bay Resort. Roy's nice beach restaurant. Boogie Board at Castle beach left side of Malaekahana Beach campground and surf lessons at Waimea Bay Beach Park were you can boogie board too. Our young adult members liked walking down to the Food Trucks to get smoothies and fish tacos. Perfect weather and relaxing stay. We rode bikes (3) down to Sunset beach one afternoon too. We had football fans and went to Kemo'o Farms Pub in Wahiawa which is a great little hole in the wall with lots of TVs.

WIsh we could stay forever!

  • 5 of 5

We’ve stayed on the North Shore many times, usually over the holidays, and this is our favorite property so far.

The location can’t be beat.

The sound of the crashing waves was fantastic (curious what it’s like in June?) We’re big music people and we never once thought of turning it on because of the sounds of the ocean.

The property is gorgeous, clean and cozy.

We hardly used the studio but it would be perfect for a young couple or even older kids.

Everything you need is available, and if not, it’s just a phone call away. We had unusually cold nights and had extra blankets delivered within an hour.

There are so many great things about this property, I could go on and on, but for us the location was perfect.

We definitely hope to return and we’d love to stay here again.

My family and I spent a week at this oceanfront home with the amazing view and enjoyed beautiful sunsets each day on the lanai! The house is clean with a newly renovated kitchen and provides a beautiful and peaceful environment. The location is great with numerous activities nearby that kept us busy on those days that we chose to leave our private beach. Gretchen, the owner, was great to work with and provided tips for snorkeling, hiking, dining, bakery, etc. We hope to return next year! Aloha!

A piece of paradise on the North Shore in Oahu!

  • 5 of 5

I recently experienced a week in paradise at this home. The view from the Lanai is absolutely breathtaking. The prefect spot for your morning coffee and some of the best sunsets that I have ever seen. The home which is very clean and has a brand new renovated kitchen sits directly on an almost private beach. They have bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. If you do want to leave the incredible beach, there are many spots to snorkel (one is within walking distance form the house) and explore within 5-10 minutes. The owner, Gretchen, was so helpful with suggestions for Activities, Dining and great sight seeing spots we may have never found on our own. I hope to be back next year!.
