Relaxing Cottage on a 3 acre property on the Ottawa River. 5 bedroom

Located on the Ottawa River close to White Water Brewery, Wilderness Tours and minutes to Westmeath and Pembroke Ontario. This cottage has it all. Beautiful view of the Ottawa River, sunsets, dock for swimming, fishing and relaxation!! Large eat-in kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher and also has a washer and dryer just off the kitchen. Large bathroom on the main floor including large whirlpool tub, stand alone shower. A second 2 piece bathroom upstairs in the master bedroom and a third 3 piece bathroom in the basement. Large screen TV with satellite dish in the family room just off the kitchen. Internet and free wifi available in the cottage. Sit on the wrap around veranda at night with a nice glass of wine and watch the beautiful sunsets every night. Plenty to do with the kayak, canoe, paddle boats and long walks. Convenient store in Westmeath Village with fresh meat, milk, liquor and beer store on site and a gas station. Great place to relax and enjoy your holidays! The pond in the back of the house is not for swimming and parents should not let the children play without supervision.

A relaxing week

We had a great time and found the cottage well equipped and property well maintained. Lots of toys for adults on the river: paddle boards, kayaks, canoe and peddle boats! AC in the cottage was a welcome relief during the heatwave and the beds were very comfortable!
Beautiful sunsets!
The river is so calm here it’s like a lake!

Paradise on the Ottawa River

We can not thank you enough for our dream vacation at the most wonderful location. We loved the very small town of Westmeath. The large cottage is superb in every way. It had a cool inviting sub level with bunk beds for kids to build memories, with movies and cards for late night. The Pond is brilliantly sculpted and had frogs and beautiful Lilli pads and a rare visiting mink. Kayaks and paddle boats were provided as well as cabanas. We fished from a safe platform and caught a few. A short bike ride to the coolest ‘Kenny’s” store, reminiscent of Godsey’s on the Waltons. This private spot is so brilliantly managed. Sunsets across the river over Quebec. Owner was a pleasure to meet. Morning nature walks with a one year grandson were amazing. Sorry to be long winded, but this spot uniquely takes your breath away.

A great week on the Ottawa River

This was our second stay at Terry and Janet's beautiful cottage on the Ottawa River. It is perfectly positioned for gorgeous sunsets and fun water activities. Our family has been vacationing and fishing the Ottawa River since the 1930s and their cottage is perfect for the size of our group. They offer a modern and updated kitchen, plenty of bedroom space, the wraparound porch is perfect for sitting around sharing stories. Terry and Janet are wonderful hosts and always quick to respond with any inquires we had prior to our stay. We look forward to continuing our Canadian fishing vacation at Terry and Janet's place!

Beautiful cottage … Great family experience!

Terry was such a gracious host! He made sure we had everything we needed, and more. The spacious property was absolutely gorgeous and meticulously cared for. We spent most of our days outside enjoying all that it had to offer. A lovely beach area, lots of water amenities which we used every day, a cozy area in front of the house with a swing and lovely pond, and lots of grassy areas that we used to play many outdoor games. Adults and children alike were all very happy! The inside of the cottage was super clean, spacious, had comfy beds, and everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and elsewhere. For anyone that loves watching movies, this cottage was a virtual goldmine of DVD collections. We can’t wait to go back next year, and cannot recommend this cottage or our host highly enough!! Great family experience! :)

It really is a home away from home!

All nine of us (aged 7-64) agreed... this was such a wonderful vacation. This was a great location for peace and quiet away from the city. The cottage was clean and well appointed. The beach was great and we spent a lot of time paddling out to explore the islands and the beaver dam. Our 9 yr old granddaughter was tickled pink to catch her first fish, a catfish whom she placed into the frog pond. The 'pond' was a lovely surprise. Very nicely maintained and presented. Every day we had to count the frogs... 26!!! and check on the tadpole development. The kids couldn't have loved it more. In general it was a great place to reconnect with family and make new memories while watching the stunning sunsets from the porch. Thanks Terry for sharing your home with us.

A Great Getaway

We were 30 minutes early in arriving but Terry was waiting there to meet us and show us around. The cottage was very well equipped, with room for all 12 of us. The property is beautiful and well maintained and we especially enjoyed the use of all the kayaks and the paddle boat. Having a beach right outside the door was perfect. The water was shallow enough that we didn't have to worry about children though it was a bit weedy for swimming. The fishing was excellent. The only problem we had was the water from the brand new well was quite salty. Bottled drinking water was provided and Terry was nice enough to bring out extra when it looked like we might not have enough to get through the week. Despite the water issue, we had a fantastic time and enjoyed our stay very much.

Utterly wonderful

Our family — 3 generations, ages 9 to 75, plus dogs — loved our stay. The location is lovely: private, quiet, beautiful views. The cottage has everything you need: we’ve never been to a rental that is so carefully and thoughtfully organized and equipped. The owners clearly love their property, and we felt really welcome and comfortable. Thank you for a wonderful family holiday!

Beautiful cottage and great fishing

My family has been fishing the Ottawa River since the 1930's and have stayed at a variety of places along the way. Janet and Terry's cottage is right at the top of that list. Their cottage is filled in several modern day amenities like a dishwasher, Keurig coffeemaker, washer and dryer, and a great fridge/freezer. All of their beds are comfortable and arranged well in the unit. The master bedroom was even spacious enough for a blow up mattress for my two young boys. The property location could not be better as it sits directly on the Ottawa River in the middle of several of our favorite fishing holes. The property has a lovely pond and two fire pit locations where we sat and watched the gorgeous Laurentian Mountain View sunsets . Terry and Janet also provide renters access to several canoes and paddle boards that our boys took advantage of throughout the week. Overall, our week on the Ottawa River could not have been better!! Thank you, Janet and Terry!!

Great Family Holiday

The cottage was clean and fully stocked with everything we needed and really very spacious. The grandchildren loved playing on the beach and play structure, and loved the pond with frogs. Everyone loved the paddleboat, canoe and kayaks. Lots to do for all ages. Terry our host was very accommodating and friendly.

High marks for everything

There was nothing lacking at this property: Nice, roomy, clean cottage. Nice beach, nice landscaping around pond. There isn't much close by, but if you just want to relax, do some water sports and maybe make a bonfire at night, this place is perfect. And the owner thoughtfully supplies all you will need: Equipment, firewood, lots of cutlery, linens and even bottled water.

Loved, loved, loved this property!

We absolutely loved our time at this beautiful cottage. There was plenty of room, and loads of things to do, from kayaking to boules. Waking up in the morning to the vista of lake and sky was sheer pleasure. Pack as many groceries as you can, but if you run out of anything, Kenny's store is just down the road.

Perfect location for holiday fun

The cottage was immaculate, fully stocked with everything you have at home. The rooms were a good size. No one complained about the beds, mine was super comfortable. The grounds were beautiful, well maintained and very peaceful. The beach perfect for young children and adults who are not comfortable in deep water. There were things to do for all sizes, all ages. We will definitely be back for another stay. Thank you for having us Terry!

Little paradise

When we arrived at the property we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful scenery, the nice beach area, and the landscaping with the lovely pond. The host was very hospitable and accommodating. We all enjoyed our relaxing stay, taking advantage of the canoe and the kayaks. The little children loved playing at the beach and the play structure, and running around the spacious property or counting frogs. Sitting on the porch and watching the beautiful sunsets was a real treat. We made lots of memories and were very happy that we could stay at Terry and Janet’s place.

Amazing Location on the Water

The cottage had everything we could have wanted, boats, a dock, two fire pits, movies and plenty of space for the kids to run around. It was really well maintained and the view of the water and sandy beach were phenomenal. Janet and Terry were really thoughtful hosts and replied to all our questions quickly. Would love to stay here again with extended family!

Amazing Cottage

It's an amazing place to stay, very nice house, clean, comfortable, and very well equipped. You need only food and change of clothes, everything else is there. Beach is awesome. Flawless email / phone communications with the host. Thank you so much Terry and Janet for sharing this amazing place with us. We will see you again next year.

Paradise on Earth!

Terry's place is heavenly! Ideally located, perfectly equiped and maintained, and also very large and very, very comfortable. Everything necessary to life is provided and available: towels, sheets, salt and pepper, oil, wood for the fireplaces (two of them in the garden!), canoes... everything! The viewpoint on the river and the surrounding nature are incredible. Birds, squirrels, frogs, humming-birds, even a muskrat and a turtle in the pond! The sunset on the majestic river is wonderful. A paradisiac place to get rest, breathe pure air, enjoy calm and serenity. And Terry! So welcoming, friendly and helpful. Having conversations with him was a great pleasure. We left with a lot of sorrow. We warmly recommend this place.

Perfect property for a big family

This property is everything its advertised as. A great property for a large group or smaller. We had 14(7 kids under 14yo) stay at one stage, but for the most part had 10 people. The property easily handled the crowd. The beach is perfect for kids, shallow for most of it. But deep enough for grown ups. The kayaks/canoe and paddle board was a big hit for our kids. Terry & Janet were great hosts - welcoming us on arrival. We're already looking to book for next summer!!
