Come experience “up north” in all of its rugged glory. Nestled among trails in the Hiawatha region of Munising, MI (next to Haywire Trail #8), The Log Cabin Retreat is also situated in very close proximity to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
This is the PERFECT location with quick access to everything the area has to offer. Enjoy snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice climbing and ice fishing in the winter; hiking, ATVing, mountain biking, swimming, beaching, fishing and kayaking/canoeing in the summer. There is plenty to do in the area and the Log Cabin Crew is ALWAYS happy to help you out!
The Log Cabin Retreat is surrounded by 20 acres of private, wooded property. Luxuriate in solitude or enjoy Munising – your choice! The conveniences of town are just a short (10 minute) drive away. The famous Bear Trap Inn (restaurant and bar) is just 1/4 of a mile down the road: Our guests have always loved this place. Kewadin Casino in Christmas, MI is about a 20 minutes’ drive.
The cabin is quaint enough for one family, yet accommodating enough to comfortably host larger parties of up to 16. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms on the basement and main floor levels, plus a loft.
Park your snowmobile trailers and trucks in the large driveway – there's tons of space to pull in and pull out (no need to back up). Stoke up the fire and relax. Imbibe at the bar. Take in forest and wildlife views from the comfort of the deck. Cook up a feast on the gas grill. Roast marshmallows and enjoy each other's company around the fire.
The cabin is yours to enjoy during your stay. There’s plenty of room here to do what you like. Make memories; do things your way. The kitchen is fully stocked. The living room is plush. The basement is fully furnished; laid-back. All bedding, bath towels and toiletries are included.
Most of our guests are repeat guests… Come and find out why!

The Log Cabin Retreat is the largest log home in the area. It's nestled among the trees on 20 acres of private land near the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
Located in the middle of the snowmobile and ATV trails. Far enough from town to be secluded, yet close enough to get supplies when needed.
Sleeps up to 16 guests in beds. Sitting/lounging space on the main floor AND in the basement.
Nice place. We keep going back
This place was so much more than I expected. I have never seen such well crafted detail in the decor. It was like rustic meets artistry as well as being very clean and having all modern conveniences. This place is so well stocked with everything you need that you could literally just bring clothes and food and move in. I go with a group of guys snowmobiling ever winter and we stayed here for 5 nights this year. It is just 1/4 mile from the trail #8 connector out of the Bear Trap Restaurant parking lot. So convenient! We rode 620 miles in 3 days and had this awesome place to hang every-night. I would absolutely come back.
We enjoyed our stay. The host was very communicative and checked on our group a couple of times. The place is in a great location for snowmobiling right off the trail. We took a quick ride to the the Bear Trap for drinks and food. A great time was enjoyed by everyone. I can not wait to return.
I have been snowmobiling with a group of guys for 27 years and this cabin was the best we have ever stayed in. From the beds, linens ,kitchen , bathrooms ,living room, bar area, was great. Thanks Henry
Great cabin and has all the amenities You will not be disappointed!
Even though it looks small on the out side, this cabin can accommodate a group of 12, no problem. Parking for snowmobiles is great. Location is great. Service is great. We utilized the large bar area all the time. Kitchen is well stocked. This is our 2nd time here. Will be back next year.
We are just minutes outside of Munising on H58. 4.5 miles past Miners Castle and .25 miles before the Bear Trap Inn (family dining and bar).
Nearby access to the snowmobile and ATV trail, not far from multiple hiking (or snow shoeing) trails, waterfalls (or ice caves), cross country ski trails, kayaking, fishing, and much much more!
