Our home is located in Wilderness State Park, which is just around the point from the Mackinaw Bridge. This protected bay area with shallow water makes our beaches sandy and helps the water warm more than the deeper, colder waters of Lake Michigan.
Our boys can play and walk out quite a distance before the water gets deep (a little piece of mind). Also, it is amazing that the lake can be so still at certain times of the day/year. We’ve seen it look like glass before — just beautiful! Who would have thought you could see calm water like that on Lake Michigan! It is also breathtaking to see such different colors of the water. It is as if you are on the ocean with the levels of pretty blues in contrast with the white sandy beach.
The yard is also of value to us, as our boys love to get out, wrestle, play football, swim and explore. The house offers us the opportunity to be quiet and thoughtful, play outside or be at the movies in 10 minutes.
It fits our needs wonderfully with the soft, sandy shore, clear shallow water, friendly neighbors, and the convenience to town with the feeling of being far removed.
