About James Nelson
After living 45 years of my life in Montana. I decided to move to North Dakota where I met my wife, a realtor, and continued residential construction. Summer vacations every year are trips back to my old stomping grounds to fly fish and hike with my sons who live in Missoula. As a youth I spent every weekend and summer fly fishing with my grandparents, hiking up every drainage to every mountain lake I could find on a topo map. These recent years our trips included the St. Joe and Clearwater drainage in Idaho. we would drive by the area where our new cabin is and cut south on Trout Creek or Cedar Creek roads to the Blue Ribbon trout streams. Some trips would just be day hikes into the beautiful Alpine Lakes on the Mountana divide. Then last fall we stumbled upon this cabin built in 1996 on the Clark Fork River and knew this was where we wanted to come on our weeks off. In the past our families have enjoyed renting beautiful rentals as ours...With only limited time off each year we've decided to share our beautiful log cabin with you and share my knowledge of amazing adventures in the area.
James Nelson purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why James Nelson chose Superior
Where to begin...A beautiful log cabin on the low bank of the Clark Fork River. It borders state land and is a couple hundred feet from the last take out of the Alberton Gorge, famous for its whitewater rafting. The freshly oxygenated water downstream from the cabin makes the fly fishing spectacular. you can sit on the deck or porch swing and watch the eagles and osprey hunt or watch the fish rise to the daily hatches. Being only 45 minutes from the Hiawatha Bike Trail, Quinn Hot Springs and Cascade Falls has its appeal too. For me it's a jumping off point for hiking too. The many numerous mountain lakes within an hour and the two roads I take to my favorite Idaho fishing river. Montana's largest and newest state park is 15 minutes away will open in 2014 and so is the largest pine tree in Montana. Golfing at Trestle Creek Golf Course is also only minutes away. Inside the cabin is a Forest Service look-out map on the wall marked with adventure spots for all ages. Be it a Alpine Lake you can drive too or one to hike too, a Forest Service Look-out, Hot Springs, mountain bike trails or the famous rafting waters out your door. We're here to share our past adventures with you!!

The cabin and surroundings are beautiful!!!
It was all so nice. We didn't want to leave.
If we were to critique anything, it would be that the bed is way too too firm. Could not sleep much and woke with stiff back and knecks. Next time will take our own pillows too. Also, had to keep driving off property to check on ill father back in texas because of no phone or internet service.
The above being said, this is by far one of the best experiences we have ever had. Fun stuff to do or do nothing and relax. See wildlife. Cook at cabin or eat out. Gas grill outside and in. Sitting by fireplace in rocking chair as the sun rose is awesome. Or, stay in bed and watch it rise through the great view upstairs.
All in all this is a beautiful location. Thanks for sharing your retreat.
Hi Pattie, So glad you enjoyed your stay!! Feel so bad the bed was too hard and the phone service. We probably need new pillows and maybe that will help, also have something to put on the hard mattress to soften it up! Our phones are Verizon and they have worked well there. Don't know why the tower wouldn't pick up yours? We'll have to check on that! Thank you for the great review!! Hope you can make it back! Jim and Holly
Everything about the cabin and location is what we had hoped for.
Our stay here was exactly what we needed. Cabin is located a matter of feet from the river with great views up and down. We spent a lot of time on the front porch just relaxing and enjoying the local deer population, ospreys and eagles and even managed to catch a few fish. We met Jackie one of the neighbors while on a walk and the next day she provided us with fresh tomatoes, onions, lettuce and several different herbs from their garden. Property owners were quick to respond to our question and very pleasant to visit with. Our biggest complaint is that WE did not schedule enough days as we hated to leave. We hope to come back for another stay
Thank you for sharing your place..

Cozy cabin in beautiful setting
We had our family of five staying in this cabin on the banks of the Clark Fork river. The cabin was well stocked with basic kitchen needs and the house itself was cute and clean. Waking up to the river views with the morning light streaming through the windows was my favorite part. Outside the cabin our girls swam and played although the bees were out in force however we stayed in mid August so that was to be expected. My only complaint was that we did not see my husband for most of the trip as he spent all his time catching trout on his fly rod! ;) Oh well, at least the rest of us enjoyed our quiet serene time in and around the cabin!
So great to hear you all enjoyed your stay at our sweet cabin!! Thank you and come again!! Take care!
