Relax, unwind and get your Sunday chill on, regardless of what day it is

  • 5 of 5

We had a peaceful and recouperating 2 night stay. The place has everything needed for relaxing and enjoying the gorgeous view.

We took the 2 hot plates outside and made food for our stay.the first night. We grilled both nights too. The second night the grill wasn't real hot and when I called Mary she came right over with a new grill. Wow! That was amazingly fast, easy, and awesome!!

I loved my time in the hammock, while he fished. The fish jump constantly right in front of you all day and night. He caught some cat fish - pretty small, but it's still fun to at least catch stuff.

The place is right on the water and looks just like the pictures, although It was bigger than I thought it would be. Perfect for 1 or 2 with plenty of room to move around. The bed and linens are comfortable and everything is solid and nice. The dishes, glasses and silverware are nice heavy duty quality, not typical cheap rental.stuff. Loved all the extras - coffee, creamer, sugar, coffee filters, seasoning, aluminum foil, paper plates, paper towels, napkins, dish soap and sponge, even beach towels and bug spray.

We spent the whole time at the property on the water or enjoying the lounge chairs/hammock outside, looking at the great view. We slept with the French door open all night. Windows were open all day. Having windows on all 4 sides, brought awesome breezes (we closed them at night as it got colder).

We went out in the canoe for a leisurely journey up and down the river. It's very calm water and quiet everywhere. With large, nicely manicured, maturely landscape yards - very relaxing.

We built a fire both nights with wood Mary provided (such a great treat). Stayed up til 2 am playing music in front of the fire, 3 feet from the water. It doesn't get any better than that. An all over relaxing and satisfying trip and we would defiantly go back. Easy 2 and half drive from Chicago.

Thank you for an awesome stay. I loved it and felt so comfortable I could live in the boat house.

Cozy & Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Everything was wonderful! The cabin was neatly kept and very cozy for our visit. We enjoyed time out on the water in the canoe and we enjoyed laying around lazily in the comfortable hammock! :) Mary was a great host, we would highly recommend this little hidden gem!

Peaceful quiet getaway

  • 5 of 5

Property was well maintained and had everything you would need. Views were terrific and free usage of the canoe was awesome. Restaurants were only a few minutes drive away...we highly recommend NOLA Grille. I guess the only downfall is the water to shower in is very sulfuric and smells that way too but growing up on well water I was used to it. Mary did provide a water cooler for normal drinking and coffe making purpose though. We are planning to try and plan a family vacation using this site in the near future.

A Lovely Place

  • 5 of 5

We were very happy with this cozy little boat house. It suited our needs perfectly. A very comfortable bed, which is important to us. The location looking across at the marsh is the perfect setting. Especially if you enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. And nearby is Horicon Marsh; a must to explore! Overall a most peaceful setting.

wonderful river retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Mary is a very nice person, helpful and accommodating. She gave us an upgrade to the cottage clubhouse and it was wonderful. Both the boathouse and clubhouse cottage are as pictured. Both are on the river, and the view and peacefulness are great. The cottage has plenty of room and is well stocked with all your needs. We enjoyed the grill, having our meals in the sunroom, taking in the view from the deck, and ending the day with a bonfire by the river. Who could ask for more?! There is plenty to do in the surrounding communities, and Horicon itself. Plenty to do even at the property-canoes, bikes etc. We went into Beaver Dam when it was raining and found a bar on the lake (moonlight bar and grill) where we could shoot some pool and play darts. We had a wonderful stay and I am returning in the fall. Thanks Mary!
