A newly-built guesthouse with the feel of the Old West.
We are located far enough out of Alpine to give you a rural feel, but in reality being just minutes from downtown, this studio guesthouse gives you the best of both worlds. This is our guesthouse, and sits approximately 30 feet from our house. The patio shown is part of our house. However, we are very respectful of your privacy, and all of the facilities are yours to use during your stay.
Sit out on the large covered porch and enjoy watching the quail and other wildlife, or visit with our own assortment of livestock. We are pet-friendly, and can even board horses for a small fee.
After you have enjoyed your day, relax around a fire in the fire pit, or soak in the hot tub while watching the sky for shooting stars and satellites. If you feel like cooking outside, there is a gas grill available, or you can BBQ over the fire in the fire pit.
Inside the guesthouse, you will experience the warmth of rustic and the comfort of modern from the custom-built cedar furniture and cabinetry to the knotty-pine vaulted ceiling, along with the wall of windows opening onto a fantastic view of Alpine against the mountains. The kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, sink, cook-top, and pantry. It is equipped with a microwave, toaster oven, automatic coffee-maker, toaster, and cooking utensils.
The queen-size custom-built bed has plenty of storage space under it in case you want to stay awhile.
The television is a 32-inch flat screen with satellite service and a DVD player.
The guesthouse is climate-controlled with a whisper-quiet heating and cooling system.
The modern, spacious bathroom includes a large walk-in shower, and a vanity with plenty of counter space. There is also a hair dryer, and an iron and ironing board.
If we are booked, or you are looking for something a little bigger, please check out our sister property, listing #923603.
Come stay outside the box, and experience the true West Texas.
This place was wonderful! It was just enough out of town, but close enough to go up the road and enjoy the little shops downtown. It's not a far drive from big bend, mcdonald's observatory or the marfa lights. The property itself was very clean and very peaceful! The patio area was nice to sit at and enjoy the sunshine and watch the animals! Lisa and Steve were extremely friendly and helpful with information on places to see and go, definitely would rent this property again.
Everything at the property was perfect for us! Spotless accommodations, fresh eggs from their chickens and a great outdoor area for relaxing and visiting with the horse, goats, chickens and sweet dog Shadow. They are wonderful hosts and we will definitely be back!
This was an absolutely beautiful place to stay in Alpine! Lisa and Steve were very welcoming and even wrote a note to us. You can tell that they take pride in their abode! We were able to cook steaks with the grill and enjoyed the hot tub too. Being able to see the animals every morning was a plus and the goats were my favorite. It was located very close to the middle of Alpine and not that far from Fort Davis. Thanks for an amazing stay and we look forward to coming back!
Close to the charming downtown but just outside it so that the home was private and quiet. Clean and well designed. Loved the horse and animals.
This is the perfect place! Just enough out of town, but still close. The views alone are worth the stay. Hot tub looks at the mountain view, and the stars feel like an arms length away at night. Very charming room with a comfy bed. This is a must stay!
Booked for a belated birthday getaway. Wanted the bigger rental. But it was unavailable on dates of trip. This little rental was just as great! Very lovely and Lisa.....
Well if you read other reviews. She was very awesome. The whole experience was awesome.
And the eggs and wine are real, unlike the Marfa Lights :/
Strongly recommend for a stay. You won't be disappointed.
Located on the Fort Davis Hwy., we are just minutes away from downtown Alpine, Sul Ross University, restaurants, and shopping, including boutique art galleries and gift shops. Alpine is the gateway to Big Bend National Park, along with historic mining towns such as Terlingua(famous for its annual Chili Cookoff) and the bordertown of Lajitas with its championship golf course. To the west of Alpine is Marfa, filled with many historic buildings and a growing art community. In between Alpine and Marfa is the famous Marfa Lights visitors' center. North on the Fort Davis Hwy., along the Texas Mountain Trail, is the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute, which features native plants of the Chihuahuan Desert located in a gorgeous canyon setting. Further down the road is the historic town of Fort Davis, just 20 minutes from us. While there, you can explore the actual Fort Davis, which is a National Historic Site. Fort Davis is filled with charming shops and restaurants that add to its Western flair. A little further up the road is the McDonald Observatory, where you can attend their famous Star Parties, or just take a tour. The Fort Davis Highway is used by both bicyclists and motorcyclists as a year-round scenic ride. There are so many activities to enjoy in this area, and we are located right in the heart of it all.
