About Blaine and Jenny Moats

My wife and I live in Des Moines, Iowa. My cousin and co-owner Bruce, lives in Ft. Collins, CO. Every year my family meets up at the cabin with my mother from AZ and my sister's family from Denver for a family reunion. There is plenty of room for us all and we never get tired of the endless trails and beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park.

Blaine and Jenny Moats purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Blaine and Jenny Moats chose Front Range

My Dad and Mom have rented this property since I was a teen. It's been 25 years and we still go back to this same cabin every year for a reunion. I have many memories growing up and vacationing here, and now we will have new memories with my wife and two daughters.

We've had a dream of owning a property in Estes Park for many years and have looked at many cabins for sale the last five years. But we always compared them to this cabin and were never satisfied. Recently, the owners we've known growing up decided to sell and we could not let it go. We know you will enjoy this property as our family, friends and previous renters have for over 25 years.

What makes this cabin unique

We love this cabin because we can go to Rocky Mountain National Park within minutes or enjoy quiet time at home with timber and mountain views. If we need to go shopping or decide to head out for dinner, it's a quick trip in the opposite direction to downtown Estes Park. We are very close to downtown and many shops and restaurants are within walking distance.

Rustic but nice

  • 4 of 5

When we arrived we were a little concerned by the outside appearance. Grass was very tall and un-mowed. Exterior needs some work as well. We were pleasantly surprised by the interior. Well kept and extremely well provided. Full kitchen stocked with everything from skillets to forks. Also had some food items left by past renters. Condiments, Pancake mix, coffee and tea packets. Even a couple of beers in the fridge. Come to the cabin prior to going to the store. Large supply of paper plates and plastic knives and forks were there as well. The kids loved the 5 bed "dorm" upstairs with XBOX ready for them to play. Plenty of bedroom space for the whole family. The morning we left we had a cow elk in the back yard munching away on the grass. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again if the need arises.

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking the time to review our home. We have many of the same families stay every year. We all pay it forward. We fully stock the cabin in the Spring and mid-summer. Families buy items and leave them. It is better than tossing them away unused. We usually have wildlife everyday in the yard. The grass in CO is normally tall. It is wild grass and common in Estes not to mow. Most of our neighbors don't mow all year. We do like to keep ours short and tidy. I will call our lawn guy to get it mowed. Yes, the interior is great. I agree the exterior needs attention. It is next on our list of improvements. We are either repainting, shakes or log siding. Still waiting on the quotes. We hope you decide to stay again!

Wonderful time in Estes Park!

  • 5 of 5

The house is VERY WELL equipped! I brought a space heater...totally unnecessary! The closets are packed with fans, space heaters, quilts, etc. There are games, all dishes and pots and pans you could possibly need.

Just a heads up, however. The stairwell to the attic is SHORT. My 6'4" bro in law was quite a sight going up and down! Tee hee.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time for the review! We have more than most rentals since we stay so often. We try and pack light because our place has everything that we need too. We love families and hope you decide to stay again. We mention our low clearance in our listing. Next time maybe he can sleep on the living room fold out couch? :) We raised two door jams this year for our 6ft friends. Glad to here you will stay again. Thank you!
