About Blaine and Jenny Moats

My wife and I live in Des Moines, Iowa. My cousin and co-owner Bruce, lives in Ft. Collins, CO. Every year my family meets up at the cabin with my mother from AZ and my sister's family from Denver for a family reunion. There is plenty of room for us all and we never get tired of the endless trails and beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park.

Blaine and Jenny Moats purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Blaine and Jenny Moats chose Front Range

My Dad and Mom have rented this property since I was a teen. It's been 25 years and we still go back to this same cabin every year for a reunion. I have many memories growing up and vacationing here, and now we will have new memories with my wife and two daughters.

We've had a dream of owning a property in Estes Park for many years and have looked at many cabins for sale the last five years. But we always compared them to this cabin and were never satisfied. Recently, the owners we've known growing up decided to sell and we could not let it go. We know you will enjoy this property as our family, friends and previous renters have for over 25 years.

What makes this cabin unique

We love this cabin because we can go to Rocky Mountain National Park within minutes or enjoy quiet time at home with timber and mountain views. If we need to go shopping or decide to head out for dinner, it's a quick trip in the opposite direction to downtown Estes Park. We are very close to downtown and many shops and restaurants are within walking distance.

If you are looking for a slice of heaven....

  • 5 of 5

We recently spent a week in this amazing property. This cabin was absolutely perfect for my family's needs. What we found the best feature of the house is actually the location. Such a quick drive to town, and other fun things along the way. But since it is on a road off of the main road, we were able to avoid any and all traffic each and every day. When they say it is at the base of the park, they are NOT kidding. The house has everything for a comfortable stay, plenty of room, beds, linens, kitchen, everything! The bedrooms are very large and the beds were very comfortable which is usually where a rental property kills me. They have very good quality mattresses which were great to come back to after miles of hiking. The owners have a great binder with clear and concise communication to make sure everything goes seamless. The owners themselves were so sweet and so available for any and all communication. I am in love with how they came to possess the cabin and tell everyone that story when I tell them about how amazing our rental was. The land the cabin sits on is ample, there is a great porch and a great driveway for stargazing at night. Awesome mom tip, I went to the AMAZING rock shop about 1/2 mile away and bough a small variety of cool fossils, gems, claws, ect and set up various treasure hunts around the yard. The kids went nuts! We also spent some time at the Trout Lake (fun but I was surprised at how expensive it was) and the Family Fun Zone which has way more to it than you can see from the road. The close proximity to these places was a huge benefit on the days when we needed a different vibe. All in all, we immensely enjoyed our stay and I would recommend renting this cabin in a heartbeat!

Great location and property for a large family

  • 5 of 5

The location of this property is ideal for nearby activities. The house is a short ride into town or into RMNP; basic necessities (gas, simple groceries, a few restaurants) are available at the end of the street. The house is dated, but very cozy with plenty of room for our family of eight (two adults, four teenagers, and two younger children). It was also well-stocked with paper goods and toiletries (no dishwasher, but no problem). Ping pong in the garage was a great activity for the kids between meals. There is plenty of outdoor space for Frisbee, catch, etc. The front porch was a nice place to take a nap during a soft rain shower. Hummingbirds visited the feeder hanging near the back door several times each day (we cooked up some sugar water for them -- recipe is in the blue binder on the kitchen shelf).

The house is located on a busy street, but being city folks, that didn't bother us. We hiked and rode bikes (amazing) in RMNP; we fished at Trout Haven Pond (and ate what we caught -- cute little place that provides bait, poles, and cleans the fish you catch, for a fee); we spent some time at the Fun Park (go-carts, mini golf, etc.) and the aerial park (really cool); we took the evening ghost tour at the Stanley Hotel (beautiful place); we bowled, and we strolled through the shops in town. There is more to do here than one week's stay allows. We hope to return soon. Thank you to the friendly owners for allowing our family to enjoy your cabin and your beautiful piece of nature!

Perfect house for an extended family vacation.

  • 5 of 5

Loved the house, the location and the owners. Perfect size for our family of 6 adults and 3 kids. The room upstairs was great for the kids. The RMNP entrance was so convienent. We went in early a couple days to avoid the crowds. We really enjoyed Estes Park. Cooked in the really well equipped kitchen most nights. Grill and deck were perfect. Thanks so much for making our family vacation so stress free. We will be back!
