Our most popular cabin (1 of 4 scattered across 20 acres) the Cabin on the Hill is near Asheville, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure and Historic Hendersonville amidst the many hiking areas of Hickory Nut Gorge. The Cabin on the Hill has our best view (see photos). It is just on the edge of the wooded portion of our 20 acre property. This allows for both a view from the covered porch and privacy afforded by the trees. There are woods behind the Cabin on the Hill for miles (not all ours!). Located at the foot of Bearwallow Mountain our property is partially wooded with a hiking trail, pond, and a picnic shed next to the pond with a firepit. Fishing is available both in our pond and at Clear Creek – state trout waters that adjoin our property.
The covered porch features rocking chairs and a hot tub. The cabin has a gas log fireplace, air conditioning, TV with satellite and DVD player, wifi, microwave, toaster, blender and coffeemaker. Linens, dishes, and kitchen utensils are provided. The cabin has a gas BBQ grill.
While many guests simply relax on the property for their entire stay, there is much to do in the area – hiking Chimney Rock Park, a boat tour of Lake Lure, a visit to Historic Hendersonville, dining at the many great area restaurants just a short drive away, visiting the many surrounding state and national parks and forests (Dupont, Pisgah, the Blue Ridge Parkway), and of course visiting the famous Biltmore Estate. Horseback riding is available in the area, as are driving tours of apple growing areas with many fruit stands to select from, and nearby vineyards to visit.
The property is beautiful in all seasons: spring flowering trees, summer foliage, fall colors, and in the winter the possibly of snow. Winter, when the leaves are off the trees, can be especially interesting due to the additional views that appear through the bare trees.
