About Tamme Hawkins

The owners of this property operate two small grocery stores - one of which has been in the family for three generations --in a quiet small town near Louisville, Kentucky. They appreciate being in a place set apart from the crowds and hurried living, so their Sanibel getaway feels like a true home away from home - just with plenty of sun, shells and ocean breezes.

Tamme Hawkins purchased this condo in 2011

Why Tamme Hawkins chose Sanibel

Inside this condominium are two bedrooms, two baths and memories too many to count. For decades this place has been a family refuge for the owner, who vacationed here with his parents as a boy, brought his own children when they were young, and now escapes with his wife every chance they can slip away. With the comforts of home and relaxation built in, it's easy to understand why.

What makes this condo unique

If you are looking for a taste of Florida unspoiled, you've come to the right place. This Sanibel retreat is secluded and tranquil, but boring it is not. The birds, alligators and other wildlife are protected and plentiful, and the sunsets never grow old. Pristine Bowman's Beach, known for it's abundance of shells, is a short scenic stroll away.

Great Vacation

  • 5 of 5

I can not say enough great things about this condo. The owners have done a great job of making sure that you have everything you need while on vacation. We have stayed in a number of condos while on vacation and I have to say that this kitchen had everything you needed. There was a great library of DVDs and more than enough beach supplies!!

Thank you to the owners for helping make our vacation a great one!!!

Should have reserved two weeks, we hated to leave! Very nice condo, all the amenities included. The entire resort is lush with tropical landscaping, staff is accommodating, everything is well maintained. Parking stalls are a little tight and numbers difficult to read after dark. Would have liked a patio/balcony as some have but the pool was close by for sunning. The area's location makes it much more peaceful and relaxing than some of the more densely occupied areas of Sanibel. In fact the quiet, upscale atmosphere of Sanibel makes it a great vacation spot, although traffic can be challenging on Periwinkle in late afternoon. Enjoyed the kayak availability and beach equipment. The owner was very responsive when I contacted her concerned my reservation was not recorded. Would definitely return to Blind Pass condo.

Dream location

  • 5 of 5

Our family learned at the last moment that we had an opportunity to leave winter in Michigan in 2014 and visit relatives in Southern Florida. It was truly a blessing when we found this condo unit on vrbo. We loved the location on Sanibel as well as the size of the condominium complex. Our teenage kids walked the beach, went fishing, swam in the pool and enjoyed the flat screen tv as they recovered from too much sun. Great memories

Highly Recommended.

Firstly, the condo has everything a family could need for good times at the beach. There are beach chairs, umbrellas, pool noodles, and a very convenient carrier to roll them around in, all kept conveniently in a walk-in closet adjoined to the kids' room. The condo also has comfortable furnishings and is very tasteful. We particularly liked the living room, as it was spacious and relaxing. There are two bathrooms, one in the master bedroom and a larger bathroom with a very nice walk-in shower built for two. The kitchen has pots, pans, utensils, plates, cups, and glasses, as well as a blender, microwave, toaster, and large refrigerator. The sink has a flip-switch disposal and there is a dishwasher that worked just fine for us when we used it. There are also a washer and drying machine. The condo area has a very nice pool in the center of its grounds and the beach is within easy walking distance of the condo so you don't have to get sand in the car or wear yourself out trying to find a place on the public beach. In fact, the condo connects via a very scenic walk directly to a more secluded area of the beach that stretches far with but infrequent people dotting it. The walk to the secluded beach follows a scenic bridge that extends over an inlet where you can go canoeing if you want to. My fiancee loved it all and was very sad to leave. In fact, the only thing she didn't like about it was having to leave.

Home Away From Home

We absolutely loved staying here! The condo was very nice and furnished with everything you could ever need from cooking to beach items. The whole area is very clean, quiet, laid back, not overcrowded, and a very short walk to the private beach area. The owner is a wonderful lady who will help you with any questions you have day or night. Sanibel is the most amazing place ever and our family just did not want to leave!!! We highly recommend that you come stay here!!! We definitely are coming back!!!

Wonderful stay at a great condo

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a cozy, comfortable, clean and relaxing home away from home - look no further this place is great. A short walk away from a clean private beach (may be the cleanest and most relaxing beach that I have ever been to). Great for a relaxing and enjoying some time away from the hustle and bustle of the world we live in today. The inside is well maintained, nicely furnished and clean with all the amenities that you would have at home. The owners were very helpful in answering all my questions and ensuring that all my needs were met. I enjoyed all the restaurants and the entire feel of Sanibel. I would recommend this property to my friends and family.

Tranquil and tropical, Sanibel Island is situated perfectly for relaxation. Beautiful Bowman's Beach is a very short, scenic walk from this property, and everything from bicycling to bird watching awaits nearby. Visitors can rent a boat or a fishing charter and explore the many mangrove islands; get a closer look at the protected species in the Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge; or take a ride along the 22 miles of bicycle paths that wind across the island.

Rather not leave the complex? The local lagoon is good for fishing, or paddle around in a canoe or kayak, provided free for guests. There is a large pool (heated when it's cool) with plenty of chairs for lounging. The complex also has tennis courts and gas grills for guests to use. Those who need to stay connected will find a computer and Wi-Fi access in the clubhouse. Venture out just a bit and enjoy nearby art galleries, theaters, shops, restaurants and the famous Shell Museum. A little farther afield lie Captiva Island, historic downtown Fort Myers, Naples, Six Mile Cypress Swamp, Audubon's Corkscrew Swamp and the Everglades.
