The Eloise: Greenbrier River Retreat + Tubes & Firepit

Welcome to The Eloise — your riverside escape on the Greenbrier.

Tucked along the banks of the Greenbrier River in Talcott, WV, The Eloise is a one-of-a-kind retreat where misty mornings, café-light evenings, and slow days by the water set the pace.

This unique stay combines a cozy main cabin and charming small cabin rented together, creating room to spread out while still feeling tucked away in your own little corner of West Virginia.

Spend your days floating the river, fishing, exploring nearby small towns, hiking scenic trails, or simply doing nothing at all. Grab a tube, sunscreen, and river essentials from our curated guest setup and head down toward the water.

As the sun goes down, light a fire, settle into the deck with a drink, and enjoy dinners under café lights while the sounds of the river and surrounding hills take over.

Though The Eloise feels worlds away, you’re conveniently located just minutes from local markets and everyday essentials.

Amenities include:

• Starlink Satellite Wi-Fi (great for remote work)
• Washer & dryer
• Two bathrooms
• Multiple cozy sleeping spaces
• Direct River access
• Firepit
• Outdoor gathering spaces
• Pet-friendly accommodations

Whether you’re planning an anniversary trip, family getaway, river weekend, or simply looking to unplug for a few days, The Eloise was made for slow mornings, starry skies, and a little riverside magic.

Absolutely gorgeous stay! The host was stocked up on lots of goodies--towels, spices for cooking in the kitchen, extra soap & toothbrushes (etc) if you forgot anything, and sunscreen bug spray for outdoor adventures. There were even tubes to float down the river in if you want! He was also incredibly helpful in recommending good places to eat and stuff to do around town and in the nature around the area. It was very clean AND very comfortable. Highly recommend!

Loved staying here! Really loved the two separate areas and all the deck space. Lots of room for visiting. The river is RIGHT THERE and wonderful. Saw a huge beaver, herons, a river otter, and a Kingfisher. We didn’t get a chance to use the tubes. Beautiful views . The road noise is minimal to none. Thank you!!!

I loved this location for its peacefulness. The site is beautiful and we were able to catch glimpses of wildlife. It is also very close to hiking spots that allow you to witness even more of the beauty of the area. Kayaking is definitely worth it.The place itself is very organized, supplied and ready for their guests. What I noticed is that because of this, it was so much easier to get into the groove of my trip than other places I have stayed. The host was great at communicating and helping me figure out the area to achieve the trip I wanted. For people bringing pets: the upper patio is totally enclosed, so pets can easily be out there with you. Also, the driveway in front of the place is long enough for a decent walk.

The check-in and check-out process was smooth and easy, which made everything stress-free. The staff was very friendly and always available if we needed anything. The surrounding nature is beautiful and really adds to the overall experience. Definitely a place we’d love to come back to.

Absolutely incredible from start to finish! The cabin was beautiful, comfortable, and had everything we could possibly need for a perfect week away. Every detail made us feel right at home, and the peaceful setting was exactly what we were looking for. We spent our week at The Eloise celebrating our daughter’s 16th birthday and Brent went above and beyond, even surprising her with a card and cheesecake! The fire pit was laid out nicely and we even had the makings of s’mores waiting for us. We made so many wonderful memories and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend!

The Eloise is in a stunningly beautiful setting along the Greenbrier River with a fabulous host! Being right on the river offers excellent recreation opportunities including fishing, floating, rafting, and peaceful evenings on the deck. I consider the Greenbrier River the River of my Soul. The water has been running through my veins for 62 years. We’ve been out west for the past 31 years and coming back and staying right on the river at Eloise was a dream come true! The cabin was perfect. Great beds, good AC, nicely stocked kitchen, and a fabulous deck overlooking the river. We couldn’t have asked for a better time in a better place. Thank you, Brent!

Great spot on River. Nice hole in front of house for swimming and fishing. Caught several small mouth bass. Very private, really enjoyed seating on porch and around fire pit listening to river. Seen bald eagle on our last morning. Would for sure go there again. Host was great, communication was great and had no problems during our stay.

Beautiful, relaxing cabin by the river

This is by fair one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. Place is clean and everything is there that you need to just relax and enjoy your time. Beds are comfortable, plenty of space for 5 people to enjoy with room to spare. We will definitely be back! Property manager was also so friendly and helpful. Location so beautiful that pictures do not do it justice.

Very nice property along the river. Only thing that I could possibly complain about is the bed in the single cabin uses to be a double when our family stayed before now it's more like a bunk bed not suitable for a couple and the pillows on it are so heavy you can't even pick them up. Maybe update the photos to all the new work done that looks so nice since we last stayed.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review and for returning to stay at The Eloise — it means a lot to host returning guests! We truly appreciate your kind words about the property and the updates we’ve made. We also appreciate your feedback about the smaller cabin bed and pillows. While we chose the current setup with flexibility and coziness in mind, we understand it may not suit every preference and will certainly take your comments into consideration as we continue to improve the space. Just to clarify for future guests: the photos currently shown on our VRBO listing are fully up-to-date and reflect all the renovations and changes made since the new ownership began this year. We’ll continue to keep everything current so that what you see online is exactly what you can expect during your stay. Thanks again for your continued support, and we hope to welcome you back again soon!

Greetings from the hills of West Virginia! I’m a cabin fixer-upper turned host who believes natural beauty and WiFi can coexist. My style blends modern comforts with nostalgic charm—think country cabin, but with better lighting and fewer doilies. Hosting lets me share this little slice of riverside magic (and maybe convert a few folks into porch-sitting enthusiasts along the way). When I’m not hosting, I’m likely doing something outdoors. I love hiking, cycling, rafting, kayaking, camping, fishing, and exploring green spaces. I also enjoy skiing in the winter months.
