Our vacation villa #14 is located in the heart of Poipu and our Polynesian style villa offers all the comforts of home in a luxurious tropical setting.
With only 15 two villa townhouses in this 7 acre garden setting, this is one of the lowest density destinations in Poipu. Here you will enjoy spaciousness, privacy and quiet enjoyment of the tropical flowers, trees, palms and resident birds. The buildings are situated to provide privacy with garden views. Our spacious covered lanai (12’ by 12’) provides a unique “extra” room to enjoy the botanical landscape. There is a large swimming pool next to the large clubhouse (with Wi-Fi) and covered terrace with communal BBQ grills. Other amenities include table tennis, saunas and tennis court. With so few villas it is not unusual to have the pool, tennis court and clubhouse all to yourself.
Our 2 bedroom, 2 bath villa has two levels. The upper level has a spacious master bedroom with en-suite. The entry level has a large living room, full size kitchen, guest bedroom, bath with laundry, dining area and lanai. The lanai is accessed via sliding patio doors from either the living room or dining room. This privately owned villa is furnished with tropical and plantation style themes. Our villa have a full-size, fully equipped kitchen for a home-away-from-home experience. The kitchen includes a refrigerator(with ice maker), range, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster or toaster-oven and other amenities, pots/pans, cutlery, flatware, dishes, glasses, linens, etc.

About Erick van Elk
We are retired, living on Vancouver Island (Canada)and own this beautiful island home - for over 15 years now. One of the pleasures that we enjoy with our vacation home is updating and maintaining the tropical atmosphere and providing visitors with a delightful holiday destination. We also co-manage rentals for seven other vacation homes for owners in the same complex. These are all individually owned condos each with their own unique style.
Erick van Elk purchased this Condo in 1995
Why Erick van Elk chose Poipu
We have been visiting Kauai since the late 70's and found ourselves especially attracted to the Poipu Beach area. Always sunny and never crowded. When we decided to purchase our own property we asked people living in the area for the best location and we were told about this very special, private and lush tropical setting in the heart of Poipu. As soon as we entered the grounds we discovered a different and magical world with unique architecture in a quiet and spacious garden locale.
What makes this Condo unique
Fully equipped, meticulously maintained, two bedroom and two bathroom villas in a very private setting. Guests repeatedly tell us that one of the most treasured features of these villas is the large, private, covered lanais overlooking the gardens. This is the perfect setting for reading, bird watching, and dining al fresco. But the fun doesn't end on the lanai, there is the large swimming pool with ample deck chairs and tables for just 'hanging out' at the pool (with only 30 units, you might very well find you have the pool to yourself). Next to the pool is the patio area with tables for dining/relaxing/accessing your computer/etc. and next to that are two communal bbq grills. The clubhouse itself has tables, chairs, sofas and a great variety of books for your enjoyment. There are mens' and ladies' bathrooms/changing rooms by the pool each with a sauna. And the tennis court is a few steps away. What could be better?

Our family absolutely enjoyed our stay on Kauai, we voted this our best vacation!
The condo we stayed in at Poipu Crater was perfect for us. Beautiful landscape feeling like your in a jungle, comfortable condo with everything we needed, location was great. We enjoyed coffee on the porch and walks to the beach. Easy to book reservation and communicate with owner!
Thank you for your kind words and I am very happy you enjoyed your stay with us in the Crater and do hope to see you again, very soon!

Lovely location well appointed but needs cleaning
We enjoyed our stay on Kauai saw just about all of it but the let down of the rental did tarnish it, This property was not cleaned. The linens were fresh and that was where it stopped. The kitchen is filthy every surface needs a wipe down and there are termites in the ceiling dropping grains all day everyday. The bedding downstairs smells sour and the livingroom drapes have rust and mildew. The TV has smears and kiss marks all over it from some child. It is a shame because it is a beautiful complex ,quiet and well located for the islands many attractions .The neighbours were friendly and informative,It would have been nice if there was written warnings about the siren testing on the first of every month and the flash flood warnings that come over the phones and tv. Over all I would not stay again nor would I recommend it
This is in response to the comments provided by a recent visitor to one of the Poipu Crater units under my management. I must state at the outset that the unit was thoroughly cleaned before (and after) this rental. However, I want to thank the guest for pointing out required minor issues, many of which are common challenges in a tropical climate, especially during the winter rains. The mold that forms on fabric or the haze that almost instantly collects on glass or shiny surfaces are perpetual challenges which our local dedicated cleaning staff are familiar with but cannot prevent. Termites who fly in are a constant struggle in Hawaii and treatments have been scheduled on a regular basis. The drapes have been replaced even though the rust cannot ever be totally eliminated when humidity is high. We’ll consider wooden rails as an option. The lower bedroom bedding has been replaced. We will design a way to alert visitors to the monthly siren tests. We are considering whether or not to warn visitors about the possibility of public service flood warnings – simply because we do not want to risk anyone ignoring the importance of avoiding areas with quickly rising water.

Fantastic family holiday- excellent condo
We stayed at Poipu crater in unit 6. The kitchen was well appointed with Tupperware for use, cooler, beach toys and more. It was so easy! Our kids are older so it was nice to have so much space. It was so comfortable the unit was fabulous. The master bed was SO comfortable. We didn't want to go. The shared BBQ area/clubhouse was a fun change from the beach. The pool was not really usable due to some alge issues while we were there.
One negative comment I have is that unit 6 is right across from the garbage and parking for the upper units. Specifically, the bedrooms face the parking lot and garbage disposal- it's hot so you have to sleep with windows open. Although there is a 'quiet time' for the complex, people like to come home playing loud music at midnight, have lengthy strata meetings at the garbage area (right outside the bedroom windows) at 7 am and garbage pick ups at 4:30 am on thursdays (totally not in control of the condo complex, but annoying). Little things, but good to note.
Overall, we would come again in a heartbeat! Missing it already.
wonderful family vacation
Mahalo for a wonderful stay at your unit. We loved it! From the moment we arrived to find a chilled bottle of wine and two glasses in the fridge, to the discovery of boogie boards, beach mats and towels, golf clubs, coolers - everything was there! You thought of everything! The kitchen was the best provisioned kitchen that I have ever had on VRBO! The quality of the appliances were better than what we had at home! You even had shampoo and soap. Sitting in the Lanai even during a downpour was tranquil and cozy. We Bar B Q'd and played tennis and ping pong, walked to the beach for sunset every night. It was so wonderful.
Mahalo for a wonderful family vacation that we will always treasure the memories of.
Everything we imagined and more!!
Our week in Poipu Beach was perfect and my husband, myself and our two children ages 12 and 15 felt right at home in this condo. Plenty of room, on property activities (swimming, ping pong, and board games) and a very short walk to a lovely beach where we actually saw turtles, a seal and a ray on the same day!! I would highly recommend this place to any active family!! Mahalo! We will be back!!
