About Christine Iijima/Sarah

Our family has lived in the Portland area for many years and vacationed on the coast. We bought the land and built the house for ourselves as a getaway. We decided to rent it out to vacationers when we are not using it. It is our place of rest or gather with friends and family when we have the chance. We hope others can enjoy it as much as we do.

Christine Iijima/Sarah purchased this house in 2002

Why Christine Iijima/Sarah chose Northern Coast

This house was custom designed by the architect for the setting and every detail was painstakingly considered and carefully built. We love the natural surroundings and birds and wildlife that are within sight of the bay.

Ocean view!

  • 5 of 5

Super nice place to stay with view of the ocean and away from the tourist crowds. Very cute out building for 1-2 people to stay in with bed and sitting area in addition to 2 bedrooms in the main house.

Great House and Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We definitely enjoyed the house and it's location. The storm and winds outside were no match for the double pane windows; The house was quiet and warm as we watched the storms pass through at all levels of the house. The gas stove in the living area worked flawlessly as well as all of the other amenities you would expect at home. Despite the weather, we did venture over to the stairs and down to the bay for some unique views. The house was just the right distance out of the mainstream but close enough to take a short driver either to a store or up the coast for some added sight seeing or restaurants. It was a pleasure. Thanks

A great place to stay for couple days away from home.

  • 5 of 5

First, I want to say thank you to the owner, very fast response e-mail for many questions that concern about the rental. She very friendly and happy to answer all your questions that I had before head out to the rental house. I booked online and didn't know what expect the inside look like and the environment surrounding the property. When I got to the house, it was very quietly and peaceful, you can feel like vacation time , don't have to worry about city life. I can feel the breeze clean air and also can view the beach, bay by standing on balcony. Inside the house, it kept very clean and neatly. it had everything you needed like home. I'm very please with the 2 days away from home. Definitely, will rent again if I have time off.

What a Beautiful House and Location!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our family vacation. Our party consisted of two families with kids and the size and layout was perfect. The floor plan is so open and bright that we never felt cramped or crowded. My kids favorite spot was the loft. They loved playing and sleeping up there. The adult's favorite part was the amazing deck with a view of the bay. It was so nice to sit out there and talk, read a book or just watch and listen to nature. There were blue herons and other birds always present. The wildlife, the trees and plants and the sound of the ocean made it feel like we were far from civilization. Although the house is close to a road, it feels so secluded and private. What a beautiful house! We are already planning a visit for next summer.

Lush and secluded.

  • 5 of 5

I have to say we loved this property. The views of the bay were stunning, and the grounds were lush and green. The property does not sit very far off the road, but you could not see the traffic, nor could you hear it from inside the house. And to be honest, there really wasn't that much traffic, despite the fact that is was Memorial Day weekend. There is a beautiful "secret path" (as our 6 year old called it) down to the beach, however this is not a path for the aged, infirm, or faint of heart. Notwithstanding the first part of the trek has some wooden stairs and is fairly navigable. However the last 10 feet down to the beach is a wooden beam with planks for crossbeams that you have to climb down backwards about 10 feet. That 10 feet being a drop off into the brambles should you lose your footing. There is a rope attached to help pull yourself up or to steady yourself, but again it is more of an adventure than a leisurely stroll to the beach. The beach itself is only accessible at low tides, and it does leave behind lots of treasures that our 6 year old enjoyed collecting. But make sure you all have good mud proof boots because you will sink in the mud. The house itself is well-appointed. We brought things with us, particularly for cooking that were already in the home. The furnishings are somewhat dated, but it was very clean, and the outdated furnishings are not something that bothered us in the least. The best part about the home are the tremendous views from almost every room. I literally could have sat on the porch in the comfy Adirondack chairs all day, and on the chaise lounge in the living room all night and been perfectly content. One thing you need to look for are the seals that come in to sun bathe on the sandbars further north on the bay. Do not mistake them for logs, and bring your binoculars. I would definitely recommend this VRBO.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at our house. We love the little nooks and crannies around the trees at the beach/reeds level. We have found that sometimes climbing down the rocks at the driveway end is easier. There's always something interesting to notice around the bay, the seals, the raccoons, the herons, the eagles...
