Great location

  • 4 of 5

Everything was great. The only problem we had was the door to the guest bedroom locked due to a broke door knob. My 2 year old son was locked inside the room crying for almost 45 minutes. We had no choice but to break the door down to get to him. It was scary and my wife wasn't happy.

Hospitable but a little outdated

  • 4 of 5

The good: the local contact was helpful. The place was well-maintained. The appliances worked and there were plenty of linens and paper goods. Coulterville, 20 minutes or so down the road, was charming, and we especially enjoyed the little museum. The drive anywhere was picturesque. Heat worked pretty well, though the thermostat kept defaulting to 62 in the middle of the night so we woke cold.

The bad: there was no garbage disposal, which was sometimes annoying, being very careful to clean the sink trap frequently. The house wasn't quite what we expected from the pictures; it seemed more "prefab" in person and the property just didn't seem as big as expected. The location was not as nice as anticipated; we saw neighbors more than anticipated for what seemed very isolated, and we underestimated the inconvenience of being 50 minutes from a decently-stocked grocery store or pharmacy. (Admittedly that one was on us.) We found the hand-written signs taped all over a bit passive-agressive and annoying. And the decor was more cheesy than expected.

I think we would have enjoyed our stay more if we'd been more prepared as to what to expect, which is why I'm being completely honest. Overall we had a good stay, but it wasn't as perfect as we had hoped.

Serenity Ranch ,Coulterville CA

We had a great time. Very peaceful surroundings. The house was cozy and plenty of amenities. The owner even left water in the fridge and new packaged blankets on the beds due to the cold weather. We enjoyed hearing the rooster crow in the morning, and the stars at night were spectacular.

Serenity @ Serenity Ranch

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Serenity Ranch exceeded our expectations...and our expectations are high. It was so comfortable and relaxing, and the owners thought of everything. We spent the first day at the local lake and had a blast, the second day we went to Yosemite, which was a beautiful drive from the cottage. I would highly recommend this place and plan on returning.

Cute country cottage! Very peaceful surroundings. We loved sitting on the porch and watching the sunset. The beds and couch were very comfy and the house pretty much had all comforts you could need. It was an easy drive Yosemite and other outdoor attractions. We'd definitely stay here again.
