About this property

Cozy, modern jungle cabin with beautiful sea view

Tastefully furnished studio (25 m2) with Queen size-bed, kitchenette, modern bathroom and private deck (6 m2), AC and fan. Private shady parking close to the house. The cabaña is built in a hill. Stairs are leading up from the parking to the cabin. It is surrounded by beautiful trees and offers sea view with spectacular sunsets. There are 2 separate studios in the building which is away from the main house and enjoys a lot of privacy. There is a pathway leading up to the pool. Beautiful Playa Punta Duarte is only a 5 minutes walk away. The surfers' paradise Playa Morrillo can be reached in 5 minutes by car or by a gorgeous 15 minutes walk.

El nido del tucán is a licensed business and is registered with the ATP.

Our property is solar powered. Thanks to the many hours of beautiful sunshine a day (even in the rainy season we usually have gorgeous, sunny mornings), we also feed our solar power back to the grid and only use the grid as a backup to make sure you can enjoy all the amenities for a relaxed stay at all time.

Panama has only started to learn about recycling in the last couple of years. To make our contribution to a hopefully cleaner Panama we strictly separate the trash and recycle plastics, metal, glass and tetra paks. We also support the local private group who started the recycling project for our district.

Wonderful!

Beautiful casita, impeccably maintained. Kitchen had what we needed, even a blender for our morning smoothies (thanks Gisela!). The entire property is lovely, and again impeccably maintained. Pool was great too! The view from our casita was awesome. Gisela and Guido are terrific. So helpful on many levels. They both spent time speaking with my husband and I about the area and Panama in general. Beaches are lovely. We ventured out to Playa Morillo and watched the surfers, had a few drinks at the hostel there. Did lots of hiking and relaxing. The little town of Torío is a fun place to gather. If you’re in the area on Tuesday, don’t miss Katie’s kitchen for Taco Tuesday’s! The food is great and the smoothies are fabulous (especially with a shot of your favorite rum! I highly recommend a stay here. You won’t be disappointed! Thank you Gisela and Guido! We hope to see you again soon!

We are a Swiss couple, Gisela + Guido, living our dream of a different life in Panama. After many years in busy jobs as Sales Director and IT Solution Architect we had the feeling that we would like to experience something else in life, a completely different life style to the one we knew. On all our many trips all over the world we were looking out for a new home and found it in Panama. We arrived here in 2012 and had nothing but our property to start with. We designed and built all our guesthouses and our own house by ourselves together with an experienced team of 5 local workers.

Why they chose this property

I (Gisela) have been fascinated by the Latin American countries ever since I was a teenager. With friends and later with my husband Guido I have been travelling to most of the countries in this beautiful part of the world. We spent our honeymoon on the Inca trail in Peru, in Bolivia and Venezuela. So, somehow it was simply logical to end up here in Panama and experience the Latin vibe on a day to day basis and not only as a traveler. When we saw this piece of property and the gorgeous Panoramic view over the sea it was love at first sight.

What makes this property unique

At our little piece of paradise you relax in the middle of nature, enjoy gorgeous beaches, amazing sun sets and - with a bit of luck you - encounter wildlife at its fullest variety. All this from our cozy cabaña which makes you feel at home immediately.

The Azuero Sunset coast - that means nature and biodiversity. It offers wellness tourism with lonely beaches and the most amazing starry skies without light pollution. Besides enjoying the gorgeous beaches, there is so much adventure in the area like a visit to the Cerro Hoya National Park or a hike to one of 6 waterfalls. Watch the liberation of 4 species of baby turtles on Playa Mata Oscura or Malena or watch the turtles come ashore at night, explore the mangroves, learn from a Panamanian family how sugar cane is processed or visit the home of a traditional Panamanian family and experience why they are so happy. Take a boat tour and go whale watching, explore the islands or go snorkelling. Learn how to surf, explore the wonder of nature on a stand up paddle board, in a kayak or on horseback. To relax after all the action get pampered with a relaxing massage or join a yoga class .
