The house has been featured in Charleston Magazine under the home section titled 'Ground Swell.' This article really describes what we were trying to accomplish in building our home.
This is a modern house built 5 years ago with the idea of having an indoor/outdoor living space that you might see in California or in the Caribbean. All back doors open to a lush, tropical, and secluded backyard. It is perfect for outdoor dining and lounging, making it an ideal vacation rental. We have an automated mosquito mister in order to make being outside more enjoyable.
Our house is 4 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths. The Master is on the first floor with a bathroom built to resemble a spa like atmosphere. The Master opens up to one of the back porches. The living room is an extremely open and airy space with a dinner table for 6 and second area to relax and enjoy a cocktail. The kitchen is equipped with all major, state of the art appliances as well as a TV room which opens up to another porch. This porch has a wraparound couch and swinging bed for another area to relax.
There are 2 upstair wings. The first is the kids wing with twin beds in one room and a queen bed in the other with a jack and jill bathroom in between. There is a play area in the hall way between the rooms.
The other upstairs wing has a guest room with a king size bed and huge walk in shower. It is attached to our office which has a queen sized bed. The bathroom is shared between the 2 bedrooms.

Bathrooms: 3 Bathrooms, 1 Half Bathroom
- Both the upstairs bathrooms are shared between 2 bedrooms. The kids' bathroom is a Jack and Jill bathroom with 2 sinks and 2 toilets. The guest room bathroom is meant for that room only but connects to the office where we have added another bed. Our Master bathroom is quite spectacular with floor to ceiling tile, a stand alone tub, 2 sinks, and a toilet. There is also an outside shower....moreless

We are about a 3 minute walk to the beach. You also would have access to our golf cart and bikes to make the beach trip even quicker! The marina is a 5 minute golf cart ride or bike ride which offers water activities, as well as a small grocery store, and cafe. Morgan Creek Grille is a waterfront restaurant which boasts of fine dining downstairs as well as a more casual rooftop menu. There are many restaurant options on Front Beach which is about 5 minutes away. Tratoria de Lucca, which is infamous downtown as amazing Italian, has just opened a new restaurant on the Isle of Palms as well. There is everything from reggae on the rooftop at Coconut Joe's to pizza and walk up ice cream stands. There are plenty of surf shops to grab last minute items you may need for your beach stay.
There are tons of things to do with the children in our area. We have a 15 ft. circular enclosed trampoline in the backyard. We have 2 outdoor fire pits. We are 3 blocks away from the Isle of Palms Recreational Center that has tennis courts, basketball courts, and a huge playground.
We are about 10 minutes to Sullivans Island which has many restaurants and bars as well as another park and beautiful beach. Sullivans Island has many outdoor/patio dining options including anything from fish tacos and a beer, to the best local fish and a spectacular bottle of wine.
Wild Dunes Golf and Resort is just minutes away and has 2 golf courses, the Harbor Course and the Links course. The views are spectacular while enjoying a round of golf just minutes away.
We are tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, but historic, downtown Charleston is about a 20-25 minute drive. Downtown Charleston truly speaks for itself. There are some of the best restaurants in the world in the heart of Charleston. Shopping on King Street is always delightful and bustling with families. There are many historic Churches, carriage ride tours, ghost walk tours, and rickshaw tours. We have been voted as the best city to live in the United States by Conde Naste, and we have to agree that this little city has about everything anyone would need to have a perfect vacation.

About the owner: We have been living on the Isle of Palms for 9 years. We have a 8 year old son and a 5 year old daughter. We spend our summers traveling, surfing, swimming, dining with friends, and simply relaxing. My husband grew up in California, and I grew up in North Carolina. We are ecstatic to call IOP our home and cannot imagine a better place in the world to live. This is our full time residence, and we love sharing our home when we traveling. We always make room in our closets and in the kitchen, but our belongings are here while we rent.
Why the Owner Chose Isle of Palms, SC, USA:
Our house is unique in that it is modern, open, and really has the possibility of indoor/outdoor living. We spend our days on our porch outside the kitchen with kids running around in the backyard and jumping on the trampoline. We go on bike rides on the beach almost daily. The easy access to the marina is always a fun treat for ice cream or having a drink on the water. Our house feels so secluded in the middle of summer when all the trees, bushes, and flowers are blooming. We often say it feels like we are living in a tree house.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We built our house with the idea of just meandering around to different areas of the house for eating, drinking, game playing, and relaxing. It becomes difficult to get out of the swinging mattress on the back porch with a cocktail in hand and the ocean breeze. As warm as it gets in Charleston, our house is so high that you feel the breeze on the back porch. It just creates an atmosphere that you really never want to leave, but always have the option of everything you would ever need at your fingertips.
