Vineyards in back of the house, vineyards across the road, and on the near distant hills...vineyards. This custom 3-bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home with pool is set on 1.6 acres in the Carneros appellation, the crossroads of the Sonoma and Napa Valley wine regions.
The expansive covered front deck looks east at the morning sun over flat pastureland with low olive trees and the lovely Sonoma hills with, you guessed it, vineyards and open land in between.
The even larger covered back deck looks west over the pool and hot tub, pastoral natural landscaping, and vineyards that stretch to the setting sun, all framed by mature heritage oaks.
This home’s location is unique: The Carneros region, known for pinot noir and chardonnay, lies at the south end of Sonoma Valley. It’s the closest to Napa you can be while still in Sonoma Valley. At the crossroads of these two distinct wine tasting valleys, Carneros House is just 15 minutes from downtown Napa and only 8 minutes from the historic Sonoma Plaza.
Staying at Carneros House area allows you to stick with the amiable, family-owned boutique Sonoma Valley wineries, or hop over to the Napa Valley for the big name wineries and world-renowned restaurants. If you need a shot of the Big City, you can be driving across the Golden Gate bridge in 45 minutes.
Carneros House was designed to take full advantage of its lovely setting. The fireplace room, dining room, office, and master bedroom all have french doors overlooking the vineyard, pool and spa. For those who need a dose of TV, there is a separate living room with television, well separated from the afternoon wine appreciation going on elsewhere house.
The kitchen, with views North, East and West, has a six-burner gas stove and two ovens, a pot filler, and an island large enough for a cooking demonstration. If grilling is on the menu, a Weber Grill is outdoors next to the vegetable garden.
The master bedroom with king size bed has french doors to the back deck for access to the pool and vineyard. The second bedroom is a private retreat at the far end of the house, with a full bed and windows on three walls for all-day sun year-round. The third bedroom, which catches the morning sun, has two twin beds that can easily be slid together to form a king.

I thought I was coming to Sonoma because my daughter and son-in-law had a wine tasting Groupon---little did I know when I pulled into the driveway and saw the rest of my family from Boston that we were celebrating my retirement! It took several days to wrap my head around all that my family had done for me. This house was perfect for all of us including my two baby grandsons. Just delightful! Thank you so much!
We had such a nice and relaxing stay at the Carneros House! What a wonderful place to decompress, lay out by the pool, play bocce ball with friends and make dinner at home. This is a very comfortable home and the location can't be beat, very close to world class wineries, downtown Sonoma and an easy drive to Napa. Great space, we can't wait to come back!
Your wonderful home was everything we imagined and more. It was so nice we faced a daily dilemma: pool, bocce, or actually leave the property and go wine tasting? "Our estate" won out most of the time, but when we did leave, we found great restaurants and wineries very close by. Our friends from Virigina agreed this was our best vacation ever, and our luxurious and relaxing home base was the biggest reason. We're recommending Carneros House to friends and family.
This was by far the best vacation rental we have ever stayed in. Beautiful, resort-furnished home with pool, spa, and bocce court! And we had it all to ourselves -- no competition with hotel guests for poolside lounges or bocce. Thank you for a relaxing time at your lovely place.
We rented the home for my 50th bday trip to wine country. The location was awesome to Sonoma Valley and Napa attractions. The house is very long, which was nice, as we were able to spread out, and have needed space. With 5 girls we need the 3 bathrooms. We enjoyed BBQ a few times and just love the stove with all the bells and whistles. There was a TV only in one room which was used as a bedroom, so we kept the surround sound stereo on most of the time. Loved it! We used the hot tub & pool daily. It did get quite warm while there( 100's), so the pool was refreshing. The only downside was the house has no a/c and a few ceiling fans didn't quite cut it. We had to leave to cool off. Also there as a power outage, had to leave for that-no water or toilets when power out. Besides that the house was awesome. Glad the rental company came over to get us more towels and the aero bed as they were locked up. The Gunlach Winery was 2 miles to walk from. It was a nice healthy walk. The Sonoma Plaza was 3 miles away-drove there and walked around. The garden on the property was full of the best smelling roses, tomatoes, potatoes, onions and a pear tree. Not all were ready yet, but lil tomatoes were good.
The experience in Sonoma was awesome! I'd do it again under different weather conditions.
