About this property

Elegant, private getaway

Relax in this calm, stylish studio on a secluded lot within the suburbs. You'll appreciate the private porch with table for two as well as the stunning garden and in-ground pool in season. The room features a queen bed plus a full Murphy bed that folds up into a large desk. The unit has washer/dryer, custom bathroom vanity, fridge, microwave, and Nespresso. Spacious closets with built-in dresser. Entire unit was recently updated and is meticulously maintained. Dedicated off-street parking. Perfect for college visits, romantic get-aways, writing retreats, or family travel. Close to major highways but feels a world away. No pets or parties.

Summer guests: The large and lovely pool (20' by 40') is located within a gated area adjacent to the owner's home. We're delighted to schedule your private use during agreed-upon hours, and generally between 10 am and 8 pm. Cushioned lounge chairs and pool towels make the visit even more comfortable!

Your entrance is up the stairs on the left side of the garage.

Guest access
You are welcome to all of the loft and its attached porch, and the yard. The pool is situated between the rental and the owner's home / private living space. Please contact the host to schedule your hours for private use of the pool, with your agreement to comply with all safety measures. Thank you!

Other things to note
There is absolutely no smoking of any kind permitted in the unit or on the property. Guests who smoke in the room will be assessed a fee for the additional cleaning this requires.

Please wipe down surfaces of any food remnants--cleaning supplies are in the brown cubbies under the microwave
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

We were in town for a Swarthmore College reunion, and preferred not to stay in the dorms. We could not have been more pleased with this thoroughly delightful rental. The space is light-filled, private, and graciously appointed with anything one could want. The bed is extremely comfortable with a cozy duvet and decadent featherbed topper and comes with a variety of pillows to suit any style of sleeper. If extra sleeping arrangements are needed, a Murphy bed folds down into the room as well. There is a ton of closet space, and a cozy sitting nook with a large flat screen TV. You have the option of eating inside the unit or on the attached porch overlooking lovely landscaped grounds. The bathroom was spacious, immaculately clean, and included a walk-in shower, hair dryer, a washer/dryer stack and high end toiletries (including really comfortable toilet paper!) The host has included a surprisingly spacious refrigerator, Nespresso machine, microwave, and dishes/glassware including stemware. The grounds include a pool and outdoor shower, but it was a bit too chilly to try it out. The rental unit was skillfully renovated by the owner on the second floor of what looks like a carriage house, and is quiet and private. My husband and I would stay here again without reservation the next time we visit Swarthmore. The rental is within walking distance to the college campus, and the Septa commuter rail to Philadelphia. I actually felt sorry for my classmates in the dorms.

Perfect in every way! We had a fantastic stay in this truly elegant space. The host was so kind and helpful. The location is in a lovely, tree lined street that is just minutes away from the highway but you honestly would never know it. It is close by the lovely towns of Media and Swarthmore with plenty of cute shops and restaurants. The space was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated. It appears to be very recently renovated and everything felt so new and clean. It was very well stocked with high end supplies. The beds were very comfortable with cozy soft bedding. We slept great. But, the best part for me was the spectacular gardens on the property. Everything is so well kept and just gorgeous. The little table on the porch is perfect for morning coffee in the garden. We will definitely be back!

Why they chose this property

I've lived in Swarthmore for over 15 years and chose it as a wonderful place to raise my family (and commute to work!). We are a 15 minute walk to the Septa train station and the sweet "downtown" area, a 10 minute drive to Media (which has great restaurants), and just 25 minutes from Philadelphia. (15 min to airport)

What makes this property unique

The setting! Explore the yard and gardens, and in season, enjoy the outdoor pool! This property was a dream opportunity for us, and we're delighted to share it with our guests.
