Thank you for recognizing The Lodge’s cleanliness and confirming that the bedroom layout worked well for your group of 18. Providing enough space for a large group to stay, dine, and spend time together is one of The Lodge’s greatest strengths. We would like to clarify the comment that attractions other than Luray are all at least an hour away, as that could give future guests an inaccurate impression of our location. There are numerous options considerably closer, including horseback riding at Jordan Hollow Stables and wine tasting at Wisteria Farm & Vineyard, both here in Stanley. Hawksbill Recreation Park, with its seasonal swimming pool, is directly across the road from Hawksbill Retreat. Other outings within a 30 to 45-minute drive include river adventures and parks in the town of Shenandoah, Shenandoah Caverns, Endless Caverns, New Market’s historic attractions, and Massanutten Resort. Shenandoah National Park’s Thornton Gap entrance is also within that range, although reaching particular trails or waterfalls farther along Skyline Drive naturally adds travel time. The Lodge itself offers 10 bedrooms, five bathrooms, dining seating for 20, a game room, hot tub, fire pit, and spacious covered porches. Guests also have access to the retreat’s walking trails and stocked fishing pond, providing plenty to enjoy without leaving the property.
