Kauai has so much to offer, and our condo puts you in the perfect location to see and do everything. You can come back again and again and still find new sights to see and new adventures to tempt you.
Our condominium will be your home-away-from-home while you are in Kauai. It has been decorated island style with bamboo/ratan furniture and Hawaiian print materials. The two lanais are one of the best things about the condo. The lanai off the bedroom allows you to watch the sun come up, while the lanai off the living room gives you a front-row seat to spectacular sunsets. There is a separate bedroom with a king-size bed and large walk-in closet. The bathroom has been recently remodeled and is large with a separate toilet area. The walk-in shower is over-sized so you won't feel cramped. There are two sinks for your convenience. The rest of the condominium is open and airy, thanks to the vaulted ceilings and open floor plan. The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you need to make a snack or a full meal. The separate dining room comes with views of the garden. The living room is comfortable, and the sofa folds out into a queen-size bed. The closet downstairs has everything you need for a day at the beach: boogie boards, chairs, coolers, etc. The condo is a great place to relax in comfort after a busy day or any time.
Kahala and Poipu Kai Resort have several activities for you. There are two swimming pools on the property and one hot tub. Several barbecues are around the gardens so that you can prepare some of your meals outdoors. The resort has tennis courts if you want a bit more activity.
A few minutes walk will get you to some of the best beaches on Kauai. Take the path from the front door and find yourself at Brennecke Beach and Poipu Beach Park. Brennecke Beach has great waves for boogie boarding. The very next beach is Poipu. This beach has lifeguards on duty for your safety. Poipu Beach is divided into three parts: protected wading pool (perfect for young children), a somewhat protected area that is great for snorkeling and swimming, and an unprotected area for some surfing. There are also some tide pools that have little sea creatures in them. It comes with a park with play equipment for children, covered eating areas and barbecues, picnic tables, trees for shade, and bathrooms. Across the street you can rent surfboards or find something to eat.
There are walking paths to beaches and other parts of the resort. You can take a nice walk to the Grand Hyatt Hotel, which is located on Shipwreck Beach. The grounds of the Hyatt are beautiful and there are several restaurants at this location. The Hyatt also has the largest spa on Kauai. It's worth the walk over!
Two golf courses are within a mile of the condo, but there are a total of nine courses on the island. You can even find a miniature golf course on the north shore.
Two shopping areas are close by: Poipu Shopping Village and Shops at Kukui'ula. Both have shops with island merchandise, clothing, and so on. They each have a variety of restaurants. (If you eat at Keoki's Paradise Restaurant in the Poipu Shopping Village be sure to have some Hula Pie for dessert!) Poipu Shopping Village has Hawaiian dance shows a couple of times a week. There is a general store at Poipu Shopping Village where you can pick up a few things for your kitchen.
The closest town is Koloa. Also known as Old Koloa Town, it is historically significant as being the first sugar plantation town in the islands. You'll have fun poking around the little shops. There are two grocery stores in Koloa so you can supply your kitchen.
A couple of other close-by sights to see are Spouting Horn and National Tropical Botanical Garden. These are up the coast, not too far from the condo. Everything you've read about so far is within 5 miles of the condo. There is still so much to see and do beyond this. There are hiking trails all over the island. Some are difficult, so make sure you know what you're getting into before you set off. Other activities around the island include snorkeling and scuba diving, boat trips and kayaking, helicopter and airplane tours, whale and turtle watching, horseback and ATV rides, wind and kite surfing, land and ocean tours, and much more.
No matter where you go during the day, you have the comfort of knowing you'll be returning to your home-away-from-home at the end of the day.
We have visited most islands in the Hawaiian string. Kauai is by far our favorite. It really is the garden island! The geography is as varied as the activities that we enjoy doing. Kauai is the 'real' Hawaii, and we love it!
John and Connie Neil purchased this condo in 2013
Besides loving the condominium, this is the perfect place to be in Kauai. It is located on the sunniest side of the island and is centrally located so that you have easy access to the entire island. Nearby are a couple of shopping centers that have a variety of restaurants. There are 2 golf courses within a mile of the condominium. A short walk down the path leads you to Brennecke Beach and Poipu Beach Park. Poipu Beach Park has play equipment for children, barbeques, picnic tables, bathrooms, and trees for shade. The ocean offers wading, swimming, boogie boarding, snorkeling, and surfing. You could spend the entire day there!
Of course, with our 2 lanais it is easy to stay at the condominium to relax. Or you can take a dip in one of the two pools at the complex. There is also a hot tub to enjoy. For those who like a little work out, we have tennis courts at the resort.
Sorry its taken me more than a week to send this after our return from Kauai. Wanted you to know how much we enjoyed our stay in your condo at Poipu Kai. Jim and I commented to each other many times during our time there that it is by far our favorite Kahala condo and is so perfect for us-and I would imagine for many others! We are really happy and grateful that we've been able to continue staying there after your purchase of it 2 years ago. Since we hadn't stayed there for 2 years we really noticed how much the trees have grown off the front lanai, and how they have added a welcome increase in the privacy there.
We loved the changes and additions-especially the front lanai furniture and the 2 chairs in the living room!!! Loved the new lighting in the kitchen, and also the new equipment-so much easier to cook, which we do almost every night. Also your wi-fi was SO reliable, never a problem getting on our laptop. Please keep the chair in the bedroom-it was perfect for my ukulele practice. I took lessons this visit from Hal Kinnaman a fabulous teacher in Kalaheo so needed to practice every day. We're looking forward to a new shower-as we age I think we worry more about climbing over the edges of bathtubs. Though we didn't use much of the outdoor equipment except 2 of the chairs, it looked like a nice assortment and another year I know we'll be grateful for the ice chest.
We are already looking forward to our stay next December, and would like to be considered as permanent December tenants, as I said it is a perfect condo for us, and we appreciate your sharing it.
Stayed here for our 4th visit to Kauai. When we arrived, we couldn't get the lockbox to unlock even though we dialed in the correct digits to unlock it. We tried contacting the owners and eventually got through to Terry who was managing the condo. She was kind enough to drive to the condo to let us in. Once inside, the main floor is on the second level which you'll access using the staircase leading up to it. The layout of the place was nice and seemed clean, comfortable, and cozy enough. Walking barefoot through the place, our feet felt very sticky. We took a damp paper towel to the floor to see how dirty the floor was and the paper towel came back very dark. I didn't want to walk around in bare feet like that on a dirty floor so I ended up spending an hour of my vacation, upon arrival, mopping up the floor using wet paper towels. I was sweating like a dog in heat doing this, since the only air that was a little cool was from the overhead fans. There is no air conditioning in this particular unit so the air is fairly humid. Even with portable fans on, and the overhead fans running, the place air was chokingly warm. I ended up placing all the portable fans inside the bedroom to keep us cool. So on top of the lockbox not working and the floors being dirty, we found out that the dryer in the unit was broken. We contacted Terry (the property manager) and explained to her about all that was going on. She kindly offered to dry our clothes, but that was NOT going to happen. On top of that idea being the silliest, we had no recourse but to ride this stay out; no dryer, no working lockbox (although we did have the keys that were already inside the unit. we just needed to get in the door initially), floors dirty, no A/C, and finally another insult was a clogged toilet bowl!! We contacted Terry again to send over a plumber or someone to troubleshoot the issue and she was kind enough to initiate contacting someone for the next day to come over, but after several attempts to try clearing the clogged toilet on my own, I finally broke through the clogged toilet and it fixed itself on its own. With so many things not going our way with this unit, I don't think we'll end up renting here again. It's unfortunate because it does have a little character
If you are going to Kauai and want to stay on the south side, this townhouse in Poipu is great. It is a short 5 minute walk to the beach. The place is perfect for 2-3 people with plenty of space and two great decks for lots of time to enjoy outside. The place has all the beach amenities you will need and is equipped with everything to cook at home.
We stayed here for 4 nights and we definitely plan on returning for another Kauai vacation. The condo itself is nicely maintained with two lovely lanais, one off the living room and one off the bedroom. The entire complex is pretty quite, a little more activity during the weekend than the weekdays. Be prepared for stairs as this is a second floor condo. The best part was the 10-15 minute walk (depending on your pace) to Poipu Beach. We would wake up everyday early in the morning to snorkel - so easy. Thanks for sharing your place.
We have stayed in the unit before because of its great location, nice air flow and it has always been clean and comfortable. Once again it was just what we expected and it is also good value for the money. We would stay again and recommend the space without any reservations.
Nice layout! Pretty bamboo floors. Appliances need updating! Humid inside! Airflow not so good this time of year. Portable fans are in need during day time.. We purchased one and left behind. It helped some. Need them throughout though. Master bed was so so. Place needs a new one. Pillows are not plush they are old. Hope the owner replaces before the next guest arrives.Would stay again. Property is lovely. Two outdoor balcony's. We enjoyed meals outdoors from the condo.
Always enjoy our stay at this condo. The south side is where to go to find sun when the rest of the Island is raining. We enjoy the great shops and easy access to the beach. Neil and Connie have done many up grades to this condo that make it very comfortable (love the new walk in shower) We usually stay for two weeks and it's nice to have the washer and dryer to do our laundry. The condo is quiet and love the use of the BBQ. Looking forward to our next visit.
Kauai is small enough that most activities can be done on day trips, so you can enjoy everything the island has to offer. There are so many activities to choose from: swimming, shopping, hiking, ATV rides, horse riding, boat trips, surfing, and the list goes on.
