Hi! We are Gisele Plouffe and Guy Keller and are the owners of this property. We also live on the premises. Gisele is a local real estate agent at Sotheby's International Realty in Los Feliz, and Guy is a General Contractor. Silver Lake has been our home for about 15 years and we love it here.
Gisele is an LA native and Guy is a mid-west transplant of 30 years, which makes him a native as well. The other resident of the property is our cat 'Pepi le pew'. He can be seen roaming the property.
The two of us have restored many property's back to their original glory. Dahlia Lodge is just one of them. It is our passion to bring these old residences back to life!
Gisele Plouffe purchased this lodge in 2011
Los Angeles as well as Silver Lake is our home. We LOVE it here! We chose this area because it has a great diversity of people, architecture, history, art, cafes, restaurants, and nature. We are close to downtown, midtown and the beach. We can be in the desert in a couple of hours, any local beaches or skiing on snow in the same amount of time. We have it all here along with great weather.
When we first bought this property, everyone that walked into the Lodge said 'WOW'. It has that 'WOW' factor! We bought it from a mature lady who had let the lodge run down, Guy & I lovingly restored it back to its original glory.
It is surrounded by windows on all sides and the sunset views are beautiful from there. We know anyone staying there will enjoy it and return to stay.
The Lodge is a nicely appointed get-away that features a pretty outdoor breakfast area. We were glad to fine some cooking basics including coffee and bottled water in the fridge. The original wall sconces and windows are charming, and the full, well stocked kitchen and bath are fantastic. We enjoyed the secluded feel of the property and the lush foliage. There are some steep steps to be reckoned with, but we were fine with that. Gisele was willing to work with us regarding a few issues and overall her property management felt efficient and traveler oriented. The neighborhood is pretty and a great deal of fun. Check out Pine and Crane for dinner!
Always enjoy staying at Gisele's two rustic accomodations. The Lodge is a perfect retreat that is very comfortable for when I come either alone or with my daughter. Very private and quiet, with an outside patio area that is perfect to have breakfast or lunch outside while enjoying the many beautiful birds and flowers. Very convenient to shops and restaurants on Sunset Boulevard and in Silver Lake. I enjoy having all the windows open for fresh air, and should it be hot the air conditioning cools it off immediately. Plenty of parking on a very quiet street. Gisele is a very good hostess being readily available should you need anything and providing fresh flowers and a warm note to greet you upon your arrival.
All in all not bad. The steps down to front door pretty bad and overgrown with bushes. Had to get by. Needs new mattress or at least a foam topper. ( you can feel the springs in your back) Kitchen not stocked very well but we got by. You need to move the two red chairs out of the way if you stay here or you will most certainly stub your toes. With a few updates i would stay here again. Clean and quiet.
We found this to be a great way to live like a local for a few days. The furniture was comfortable. The kitchen had all the basics covered. The patio table and chairs make for a very pleasant spot. This suited us just fine.
Our most recent stay at the Lodge was excellent, just as we expected it would be. We have stayed here many times over the last few years and it is always somewhere we look forward to staying. The Lodge is always clean, well-equipped and comfortable. The location is perfect for a nice walk down to Sunset Blvd. for a drink or dinner. We feel like The Lodge is our home away from home when we visit Silver Lake. Hope to return soon!
This home is located in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles. Silver Lake is in the East Hollywood Hills area of LA. Forbes magazine called Silver Lake number one of 'America's Best Hipster neighborhoods'. Celebrated modernist as well as varied architecture, local farmers markets, shops and cafes are everywhere. A multicultural blend of residents with electric professionals and a booming arts scene.
The Lake (which is a reservoir in City terms) has a walking path surrounding it, with a dog park and recreation center at the South end. Local attractions include the Hollywood Sign, Griffith Observatory, LA Zoo, Greek Theater, Hollywood walk of fame, and Hollywood & Highland. Silver Lake is also Downtown LA close, for the many attractions to be seen there.
The owners live on the property as well, and are available to recommend good eating spots and many local must sees!
The home is situated North of Sunset Boulevard in a lovely residential neighborhood. It is walking distance to the farmers market, as well as cafe's, eateries and bars.
