About this property

Saffron Loft with Terrace, Under the Castle in Old Town

This loft is in an old building located under the castle, with complete privacy from other guests. It still provides access to breakfast, lounge area and swimming pool in the garden. It was first conceived as a café, but tables were replaced with a comfortable art deco bed from Beirut. It also has a comfortable 1930 French club chair, and artwork from India, Georgia, Lebanon and France. A small kitchen is available behind the bar. Its terrace dominates the street – it is the perfect place to relax with a book and a glass of wine, after a walk in the city.

Welcome to the only privately owned historical Castle in Georgia. Once a fortress before the Mongol invasions, it was from the 16th century the residence of the Persian Shah Administrator for eastern Georgia. It also hosted a small nunnery for some time. During the Communist period, it was transformed into communal apartments for up to 110 individuals. It has returned to its former glory, and a limited number of its rooms are made available for some happy few, every year. We are happy to welcome you and hope you will enjoy your stay.

Why they chose this property

To reach the Castle, the Outdoor Pool and the Garden of the Castle you have to climb stairs. Area was built during the Medieval Ages and located on the rock. Unfortunately, we are not disability/age friendly due to the nature of the building.

What makes this property unique

Our small (4x6 meters and 2 meters deep) Open Pool is a transformed an ancient cisterns located in the garden of the Castle with breathtaking view on the Old Tbilisi.
