State-of-the-art kitchen with eat-in breakfast area. Downstairs there is a formal living room and separate dining room, sitting room, 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (2 are en-suite), and laundry room. Upstairs there is another large sitting room, an en suite master bedroom with large walk in closet and bathroom with two basins and a Jacuzzi, and a large 5th bedroom with half bathroom.
The property is over a half acre with flowering trees and landscaped yard, featuring a pool and large sunbathing patio. There are verandas at the front and rear of the house for al fresco dining and cook-outs. Several outdoor seating areas with a gas barbecue. An upstairs veranda has views across the water to Rose Island.
The house has internet and cable TV. It is fully air-conditioned with three separate central air-conditioner units and comes elegantly furnished and equipped with a dishwasher and full size washer/dryer. The large kitchen is stocked with everything needed to cater for up to a dozen guests.
We took a group of 10 high school graduates for their senior trip and chose to stay at Candlewood. We are so glad we did! Besides the occasional (typical for bahamas) low water pressure, the trip was seamless and comfortable. Our stay at Candlewood was wonderful! We require the services of Kim only once and though she was not available to come, she sent her very sweet husband to get the job done. She accommodated our needs as a large group and coming from a school. Money transaction was great as well. We loved having a beautiful home to go to and the end of a long day touring around. The teens LOVED the pool! We had a few chats with the neighbors who are also VERY nice! We had everything we needed and felt very safe. Thanks to Kim, her husband, the cleaning lady and the neighbors, our stay was wonderful! I recommend this home/renter and would use her again!
Loved the house, host was VERY accommodating, was cool being integrated into the island and not at an enclosed resort. Enjoyed walking through the neighborhoods and being near the water, pool was perfect, so much space, we had 10 and never felt cramped. Well equipped kitchen, grill was brand new (local fishmongers had huge lobster, snapper, trigger fish and more), would definitely stay there again, thanks!
First, when we arrived the A/C was cutting on and off. Not a great first impression, but Kim did stay until the issue was resolved.
However, this issue just foreshadowed how outdated the home was. The home is in need of a lot of work. The comforters in several of the rooms literally had blood stains on them and I was assured by the house keeper that the sheets and comforters were just old but had been washed prior to our stay.
Secondly, we were informed that we could not get extra toilet paper even though there was nine of us staying in the house. How will your guests be comfortable where toilet paper is being rationed; i.e. (two to a bathroom.)
Paper towels for the kitchen were also rationed and we had to ultimately buy some extra rolls ourselves.
Next, we had to deal with an inmense amount of insects and reptiles - ants on the toilets and crawling up the corners of the shower and several lizards. Although we understand we are in a tropical environment, ants should never be crawling inside the home if it is properly maintained and fumigated.
Also in the lower masterbed room, upon opening the closest door the door fell off the hinges; as well as several shutters missing from the closest door. Please view attachment.
Speaking of the bathroom, we were only provided with eight face towels when there were nine people residing in the home. The water pressure was quite inadequate for the size of the home. If more than one person was showering, that would cause the other guests to make sure the person was finished before taking their showers. If the showers weren't organized, one person would ultimately be left with an extremely low pressure and cold shower.
Upon arriving, the housekeeper asked us how often we wanted her to cook meals. In previous emails we indicated we wanted a housekeeper to clean the home everyday. It was made clear through you that we wanted someone to clean the home daily as well as cook breakfast everyday. Neither of which happened, which means at some point the communication fell short.
Also, there was a huge lack of direction in getting to this house. No one on the island knew where the house was located, except for a few members from Cheryl's Transportation service; we were asked to stand on the main road so someone would be able to spot us.
We spend our holiday At candlewood in March 2015. The House is lovely and There is a lot of space (we are a party of 12 friends)
The island is terrific and The location is perfect. Need a car.
Nice location away from downtown. Plenty of room for people to spread out. Small television but we didn't come to paradise to watch TV. The upstairs shower is quirky with low water pressure. Grocery store is very close and there is a quiet beach just a few minutes down the road. Definitely need a car to get around. Large property in nice neighborhood.
We couldn't have had a nicer week in the Bahamas. The house is roomy, clean and was well-suited for our group of 9, including our 16 month old grandbaby. We were far enough away from the hubub of Paradise Island and Nassau but close enough (10-12 minutes) to get to anything we wanted to do. Kim was very easy to deal with. She was there to greet us when we arrived and had even brought over a small Christmas tree and some other lovely Christmas decorations for our enjoyment--over and above, Kim--thanks for that! Her recomendation on where to have dinner on Christmas Eve was spot on--The Poop Deck. She even made the reservations for us. Rose, her housekeeper, fixed us a fabulous curry dinner the day of arrival which was so bountiful we had leftovers for days. Any questions I had, Kim was a phone call away and always helpful.
Day trips I would highly recommend include Blue Lagoon for the dolphin encounter and a great beach and Sandy Toes on Rose Island for some spectacular snorkling and a lovely beach.
We bought fresh grouper right off the boat one day from the local market located right on the water on Eastern Road. Best fish I've ever eaten--they'll filet it for you right there--cook it up on the grill and you are in for a treat. All in all it was a great week.
Thanks for a week filled with wonderful family memories.
