Located on the bayou, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, you will have glorious sunset views from this comfortable, unique home. Enjoy the ever changing landscape watching shorebirds in abundance, including an occasional bald eagle, white pelicans and frigate birds.
Cloud 9 is an octagon shaped home with an open floor plan. The master suite has a king size bed, as well as a trundle bed (2 twins), allowing 4 people to sleep comfortably. The master bath has a shower. The second bedroom has a queen size bed. Its bathroom has a tub and allows access from the hallway for guest use. These rooms are both on the lower level and offer doors leading to the outdoor porch which wraps around the entire house. Upstairs in the loft area there are 3 twin beds and a queen size bed , as well as the third bathroom with a shower.
The main living area has an open floor plan with the living, dining and kitchen area offering views of the Gulf. Two large couches are situated to watch the flat screen TV with Blue Ray player. There is a screened porch with a swing, various seats and an octagon shaped table that seats eight. Kitchen amenities include a wall oven, microwave oven, cook top, refrigerator with an ice maker, toaster, coffee pot and dishwasher.
Outside, guests will find a charcoal grill, 2 large fire pits, a tiki hut, and horseshoe pit. The dock extends over the marsh and is acccessable by boat at high tide.
Mr. Carl, the builder of the house wanted people to come and enjoy his dream. As part owner of the property, I am pleased to present Cloud 9 as a vacation rental.
Best view. Quiet, private. Large home suits families and friends traveling together comfortably. We encourage you to enjoy this lovely home, but be mindful of our neighbors who can hear you when you gather outside or on the screen porch.
Truly unique, with a horseshoe pit, fire pits and boat dock. You can enjoy and have fun together at this well thought out property.
We've been having a reunion in CK for over 10+ years. I wish we had found Cloud 9 way back then. PERFECT accomodations for a group of 4 or more. Quite, open, and all the amenities you need.
We found the property to be clean and the responsiveness and attention from the owner to be excellent! We loved the home decor, the history of the property and we certainly felt at home. Cedar Key itself makes for the perfect place to unwind as you take time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. I would recommend Cloud 9 to others, but with a few upgrades and general maintenance, my recommendation could become a raving endorsement.
Specifically: the dock has a few areas that need attention (missing board and a warped area), one ceiling fan on the porch did not work, the blinds in the smaller downstairs bedroom should be upgraded and the quality of the towels should be improved. The kitchen is very well stocked but we would suggest newer sauté and frying pans.
PS...as advertised, the sunsets are amazing!
We loved Cloud 9. We parked our cars, jumped out, and couldn't get a tour of the house and dock fast enough. Our group are all fans of coastal living and this is some of the best. The house lives bigger than it looks in pictures. The porch overlooking the marsh is the best place to enjoy your morning coffee and view the sunsets.
The property manager, Lori, is friendly and visited us while we were there. During our trip planning phase, she answered emails quickly making the process simple and understandable.
The house was clean when we arrived. Kitchen appliances are modern (the dishwasher is SO quiet compared to ours at home). There are plenty of dishes, pots/pans, and utensils. We had up to 4 people prepping/cooking at one time and had ample elbow room and counter space.
Regarding a prior review, we had no problem with the wifi.
The property itself is well-suited for outdoor parties. We had a party for about 25 people under the house (normally used for parking) and ended up using the fire pits later that evening. The dock is a great place to stargaze and there are crabpots to bait and set. We released everything we caught but it was a fun process to learn. Would be a good discovery activity for kids. The dock has had some updates since the pictures on this site were taken and there is now a handrail down to the bottom section. Kayaks or stand-up paddle boards can be launched even close to low tide. Boats should wait to high tide.
The stairs up to the house could be a challenge for elderly travelers or families with small children. None of our group had any problems with them though. My parents in their early 70s navigated them well enough during their couple of visits.
The only real problem was the "no-see-um" biting gnats. None bit my husband but they loved me. There is nothing the owners/property manager can do about these little guys so be prepared to wear bug repellent in the morning and evening hours.
For travelers unfamiliar with Cedar Key: this is a tiny, rural community. Big tourism isn't here yet thankfully. The local grocery is small and contains the basics except for a surprisingly varied craft beer selection. We got most of our produce at Sandy's (a local farm stand) and our seafood at Southern Cross Sea Farms. Our group enjoyed breakfast at Annie's Cafe and some of our friends visited and loved Kona Joe's Island Cafe. Customer service at each of these places was friendly and helpful.
Everything was wonderful at Cloud Nine! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything we needed was there and it was very clean. I would love to go back and take guests to enjoy it with us. Loved Cedar Key and the restaurants, shopping, etc. Very relaxing and very quiet.
We had such an amazing time! We rented kayaks that were delivered to the house and kayaked all around! The house was really clean and very comfortable. The wifi was not working, but that was fine because we wanted to unplug anyway! We definitely will come back to stay again!
