Sandpoint in summer is one of Idaho's best-kept secrets — a genuine mountain town on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille, one of the deepest and most beautiful lakes in the country. This 4-bedroom luxury home puts you minutes from the water, steps from a private river trail, and within easy reach of everything that makes North Idaho unforgettable in the long days of summer. The deck faces the Selkirk mountains and is only 15 minutes from the base of Schweitzer Mountain, for hiking, dining and huckleberry picking.
Four bedrooms sleep your group with room to breathe — whether you're traveling as a family, a group of couples, or a multigenerational crew. The open kitchen and dining space is built for the kind of meals that stretch long into the evening. Cook fresh catch from the river, or stock up at Sandpoint's summer farmers market and put the kitchen to work. A washer and dryer mean longer stays are fully practical, and the pickleball court and hiking trails keeps pace with active guests who want to earn their evenings.
The bench or beach by the river is a great place to close out the day with a cool drink.
Walk out the back door and follow the private trail down to the river — it's a peaceful stretch of water well-suited for fly fishing, a morning dip, or simply sitting on the bank. Sandpoint City Beach and the boat launches on Lake Pend Oreille are a short drive away, with rental kayaks, paddleboards, and pontoon boats available nearby. Hiking in the Selkirk and Cabinet ranges starts practically at your doorstep, and Schweitzer Mountain offers lift-accessed mountain biking and hiking trails when you want elevation without the effort.
Downtown Sandpoint is worth an evening or two — walkable, unpretentious, with good food, live music in season, and an independent bookstore that's better than it has any right to be.
Thinking about a winter trip? This home is equally dialed-in for ski season — Schweitzer Mountain is 20 minutes away, the fire pit runs all winter, and the mountain views from the deck look even better with snow on them. Winter dates tend to go early; worth locking in if skiing is on the horizon.

About the host
Hosted by Clark Gadson
Hi, I'm Clark and I manage this property for the owners, Cliff and Gina. Cliff and Gina like to have fun -- they love this property for hiking, eating blueberries, playing pickleball, hitting golf balls, riding dirt bikes and hosting their friends for gatherings. They want to share it with others and are excited for guests to see how relaxing and fun it can be to retreat to Castaways Farms.
Why they chose this property
Selle Valley north of Sandpoint is a stunning scene of farm life and rural Idaho. It's a valley with tall mountains in three directions with a lively river running through it. This area has it all -- good farmland, a beautiful river for fishing and play, and views of gorgeous mountains topped with snow for most of the year.
What makes this property unique
This property is atypically luxurious for a farmhouse and sits on 70 acres of property on a wonderful river with views of the Selkirk mountains.. The furnishings and appointments are the very best. It is rare to be sitting looking at these views on a beautiful farm, with this level of comfort and attention to detail in a home. Climb in the finest hotel bed with fine hotel linens after your hike in the woods, your game of pickle ball, and your long soak in the tub. The kitchen also has great knives, pans, a high end stove/oven if you like to cook. If you come experience it, you'll want to come back.
