Quiet, Serene Setting in Nature ... Sleeps 8
About Kathy Hansen
Hi, folks. I'm a writer and educator. I moved to the spectacular Inland Pacific Northwest in 2009 and have loved every minute of living in this gorgeous place. I am excited that I get to share this beautiful custom home with you. I care deeply about giving you a great experience and look forward to hosting you. I love that I'm right here on-property so I can meet your needs! I love bicycling in nature and taking nature photos. I also enjoy crafting and creative pursuits.
Kathy Hansen purchased this House in 2008
Why Kathy Hansen chose Kettle Falls
You have access to EVERYTHING in this charming home: garage; carport; mudroom; foyer with cozy overstuffed chair and wood stove, 2 full baths, including one with a deep, Roman soaking tub; fully equipped kitchen, 2nd-floor deck with spectacular mountain views, all bedrooms, living room with large flatscreen (3 TVs in house total), washer/dryer and huge walk-closet space with hangers, and 40 gorgeous, wooded acres with hiking trails! Park your car in the garage or carport. Enjoy books galore from the extensive collection, along with puzzles and games. Workspaces and wifi, too! No fumbling with keys; you'll enter the house through the garage door via a keypad and be given a garage-door opener for your stay so you can keep your car in the garage.
What makes this House unique
My house is just up the hill from this space – an easy walk, text, or phone call away. I work at home so am here to assist you most of the time. I'll be happy help you make plans for recreational and other activities to make your stay special. I am at your service for whatever you need. The place is out in the country enough so you won't be bothered by neighbors, but you won't feel lonely either. Lots of friendly folks live nearby and a charming 100+-year old non-denominational community church is literally IN THE BACK YARD. Enjoy use of fire pit, herb garden, playground for the kids, recreation equipment to camp on the property (or elsewhere), and floats for floating the Kettle River in June and July. There's an inoperative camera in the stairwell of the house. It has never been used and is not connected. A few guests have expressed concerns about it, but I assure you it is not used and doesn't work.

We stayed here for Thanksgiving, my husband and I said it was one of the best Thanksgivings we have had. Kathy is an amazing host, when we arrived she had a welcome sign with all of our names, a bottle of wine, snacks, a dog treat for our dog and all the fixings for breakfast. Our teenage boys really enjoyed the s'mores kits and fire-pit. The house is super cozy and has everything you could possibly imagine. The property was so peaceful and tons to explore around the area. We will definitely return!!
peaceful weekend in a wonderful, spacious house, surrounded by nature
This place is amazing. The house is big, very clean, tastefully furnished and decorated. Everything is well stocked. There isn't a spice or utensil you won't find in the kitchen. The fridge was filled with goodies and our Landlady even made treats for our dogs.
As soon as we got out of the car we knew we'd found a gem. The house is surrounded by trees and the view from the upstairs living room is amazing. Instant relaxation. Our Landlady was very responsive and answered all our questions patiently. We had a few special requests and she went above and beyond accommodating us and making us feel comfortable. I loved the location and enjoyed watching all the different types of birds come and hang out. We definitely recommend this place and hope we'll be able to come back next year.
We wanted a nice, quiet, remote place to unwind after a family reunion of 40 people. We found it!
After a rowdy family reunion of 40 at an all inclusive guest ranch, we wanted a quiet, remote place for the 83 year-old patriarch and his siblings to unwind. Kathy's Columbia River Woodland retreat was just the ticket. But we got much more than expected. Kathy Hansen provides a modified B & B, almost-all inclusive, art museum tucked away in a rehabilitating Ponderosa Pine forest. We were entertained daily by hummers, woodpeckers, nuthatches, a rose breasted grosbeak, pine squirrels, and white tail mommies and fawns. It was dry this year but we had residual wild flowers to decorate our inside and outside tables. A picnic at nearby Ellen Lake, visits to museums in Colville and Kettle Falls, and bird watching on the Roosevelt Recreation Lake (the Coulee drounded Columbia River) filled in our days. A selection of white and red wines from Kathy's coffers made relaxing on the deck the perfect end to fun-filled days in Stevens County. Alas, we are back home in our respective states (North Carolina, Texas, Montana, and Wyoming) but all agree that we hit a gem at Kathy's place. Try it; you'll like it.
Thanks so much for your lovely review. So glad you enjoyed your time here. Good observation on the rehabilitating pine forest!
A great place in the woods! Fantastic Birding fully equipped house!
A rare beauty for this area. A fully equipped kitchen with all the spices you need. Breakfast food supplied and additional needs provided upon request. A great deck for watching the blue birds, white-headed woodpeckers and many more. This place was full of surprises! Will definetly be back when in the area.
Lots of potential
The setting was amazing and the home was surely nice and fully stocked with all the kitchen needs in place. The owner also set us up with eggs, bacon and bagels for our first morning. Very nice touch.
We stayed a couple of nights in the spring and I have a couple recommendations. The very first thing to hit you as you open the door is the overpowering smell of potpourri. So strong, that my clothes smelled like potpourri for 3 days after I left. It made us wonder if this was to cover other smells. The other odd part about our stay were the 2 large bowls of opened and used (previous guests pubic hair included) hotel sized bars of soap in the downstairs bathroom. Having toiletries available is great but if I'd known they were used...we would have simply brought our own.
These items aside, the house was clean, the property is beautiful and our host was more than happy to make the stay meaningful. The bottom line is I won't take this off my list but may shop around a little more next time.
