A Lovely Cottage On The Banks Of Laxá River

Laxárbakki is situated on the banks of the Laxa river in Hvalfjord. Only an hour drive from Reykjavik, Laxárbakki offers a professional accommodation close to some of Iceland's most interesting sights. This Cottage is new and comfortable. With double bed in the bedroom and Sofa bed in the living room. It´s equipped with a kitchen where you find all you need for a regular cooking session. Furthermore, there is a washing facility on site, making it an ideal stay for longer periods. There is a hot tub for our guests to enjoy, along with a restaurant and bar. The surroundings have everything to offer. Only a few minutes drive and you are in Hvalfjord, one of Iceland's most attractive fjords. The country's highest waterfall, Glymur is to be found at the bottom of the fjord and it is well worth the trip to see it. Laxárbakki is close to Snæfellsnes which hosts Snæfellsjökull glacier, the setting for one of Jules Verne's most famous books, "The journey to the center of the earth". A stay at Laxárbakki has much to offer and it is sure to be comfortable.

A good spot to stay when exploring west Iceland.

The property was clean and maintained. The kitchen had most items needed for cooking, although a microwave would have been a good addition. The sauna was great, but the hot tub wasn't filled when we arrived and never was usable for the evening. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Cottage on the Laxa River.

The place was relly nice! We got a clear view of the northern lights overhead which was amazing! The view of the horizon was slightly obstructed. But It was definitely secluded and out of the way. Only 4 stars because the highway lights shined almost directly into our window. The cottage was very hot. (Underfloor heating) with no way to turn off. And water had sulfur smell from the source (no fault of theirs), but it was off putting.

Comfortable stay, great location

We had a great stay here on our tour to Snaefellsnes peninsula. The cottage is in a peaceful, rural location. We were very well looked after, and well rested for the next stage of the tour. We loved the chance to chill out… and relax in the hot tub!

picturesque cottage

I stayed here with my mother and brother on our way from Hvolsvöllur to the Westfjords and this quiet little cabin was an excellent place to stay along the way. The cabin is easily accessible from the parking but stands a little away from the main building and has pretty views of the river. We had a very comfortable stay with all the amenities we needed to make ourselves breakfast, although there is also one available for purchase in the restaurant.

Convenient to Glymur and picturesque location

Property is adjacent to a river with beautiful scenery. The staff is very friendly. The hot tub is shared (not part of the cottage). Easy access to Glymur. Cottage was clean and spacious.
