About Joseph McKerley
Joseph and Rebecca have lived in Maine for eleven years. We love Maine and will gladly share our knowledge of the area during a stay at our home. Joseph has worked with government and non-profit agencies focusing on the restoration of endangered Gulf of Maine Atlantic salmon through habitat improvement and river stability. Joseph also produces homemade jams and BBQ sauces sold at his local stand. He is currently the technical manager at a local estate. Rebecca is a landscape manager working on Mount Desert Island with a focus on native plants and flower gardens. The two of us love to garden as the many fruit trees and flower gardens on the property demonstrate. Please feel free to ask us any questions about the property. Our goal is to create a private and welcome environment for you to enjoy.

The covered porches prompt you to relax outside and enjoy a glorious Maine sunset with your ocean view of Union River Bay. The property has a fenced in portion of yard that the pets of our guests are welcome to enjoy!

This is a beautiful old home, and the owners have thought of every helpful little touch possible. I wanted to move in permanently! The house also has a nice fenced in back yard so that you can sit out at night and have dinner or just talk. There is a dog-friendly beach 1 mile down the road as well as a lobster shack for fresh lobster. Realize though that you are about 10 miles from the closest small village (for restaurants) and a good 45 - 60 minutes to Acadia so if you're planning on exploring, you're going to be doing a lot of driving. But the beach is nice for a coastal walk at low tide, and there's a hike to the top of Blue Hill Mountain pretty close by that's nice if you like to hike. The owners were very pleasant and helpful.
Wonderful place to stay! Felt like home away from home
Perfect place to stay to enjoy the beauty of Maine in a quiet setting. Easy drive to Acadia National Park and the Bar Harbor area. The owners are very welcoming of dogs and there is a dog friendly beach about a mile down the road (close to fresh lobster!). Our family had a fantastic trip!!
A group of 3 couples stayed very comfortably in this beautiful home! The owners thought of everything and we just got back from a great 4th weekend!!!!
The owners have created beautiful gardens in their yard. The proximity to Acadia and coastal towns was perfect. Easy location for day trips to hike in Acadia or wander around the beautiful towns close by. There is a great beach @ 1 1/2 mi down the road and a wonderful lobster pound to get dinner. Ellsworth is @ 7 mi away and has everything you need for your stay..good grocery stores, L.L. Bean outlet, good restaurants. The house has 3 bedrooms upstairs with one bath. We learned how to share bathroom time without war breaking out. The tasteful furnishings welcomed our weary muscles at night and we watched movies and read together. Large supply of games to play. The owners and their dog are awesome.. Wonderful experience!!
Lobster Dog has it all!
Lobster Fog is located in Surry Maine and about 45 minutes from Acadia and Bar Harbor. It is a very spacious and charming home overlooking Union Bay. It is IMMACULATE and well stocked with kitchen and bath supplies. The home and gardens are beautiful. The owner has complimentary jam and barbecue sauce that he makes in small batches and sells outside his house. It is very pet friendly and has a fenced yard and dog treats as well as dog beach towels for your pet! There are beach supplies for the family to take to the beach about a mile down the road. We loved exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor and then returning to our beautiful home away from the crowds. Our daughter 's family of four plus dog visited us for overnight and it was still spacious with my husband and I plus dog! I strongly suggest you give this home a good look for your stay in this area. You are close enough to tourist areas but far from the hustle and bustle. The owners are extremely nice. It was truly a real find for us and our dog!
Beautiful, exceptionally clean, every possible need considered
I live in an old Maine house, so I never expected the extra clean level of this lovely old house. One day my grandchildren went off to climb a mountain and I stayed in this beautiful house, reading a book by the natural light of a perfect window. It was perfect! I've been to Arcadia a hundred times, but this was probably the best trip. Perfectly kept gardens, plush fluffy towels, every kitchen utensil imaginable, an outside grill, and furniture perfectly placed for comfort: we couldn't have been in a more pleasant place. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as we did.
Newbury Neck Road is a mecca for cyclists, walkers, beach combers, sunbathers and surf casters. A beautiful, family friendly, quiet, pebble sand public beach is located less than 1 mile from the property and offers free parking and pets are welcome. The beach is a hidden jewel in an area where public access to beaches is hard to find.
Just next to the beach is 'Perry's Lobster Shack' where you can bring a bottle of wine to watch the sunset as they serve you a menu of lobster dinners, crab rolls, clams and ice cream on the pier overlooking Acadia N.P.
The rental property is adjacent to Blue Hill Heritage Trust lands which offer miles of woodland and coastal hiking. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are a short drive away. We are minutes away from the Blue Hill community where arts and fine dining abound. Less than 40 minutes to Mid-Coast Maine towns of Belfast and Camden. One hour from Bangor International Airport and 30 minutes to Bar Harbor International Airport. Miles of back roads, oceans vistas and quaint Downeast Maine small towns to explore.
